"They are doing no harm no they are just crawling about acting like any spider would I assume, gafflings of this level are only seminally sentient. I agree though you should show them the respect of going to see them." Jeffry said with a smile he seamed to find the whole situation amusing..."Well they are tiny preservative Earth elementals, we could always ask them to work in the library preserving our books from decay, it would be better than having them crawl on our walls scaring sweet old Choristers."

"Give them something to occupy themselves..." He nodded a little. While he certainly didn't want to take advantage of the creatures that had been assigned to the Umbrood shard to protect, he also didn't want to anthropomorphize the gafflings. If they were what they did, in essence, then they might well wish something to do with themselves rather than sit at the north corner until such a time came as needed. Which he hoped would not happen. He'd just have to go and see, he supposed. He smiled a little bit, sheepishly. "No, we would not want them to accidentally scare anyone again, or upset the local spirit inhabitants."

"I would not mind showing your around when things calm down enough at the Chantry and with our current situations to get a moment to breathe, this place is really quite amazing, mystical and technomagickal arts combined perfectly." Jeffry commented as he stepped out of the car. "And the ships themselves are quite the wonders, vessels meant to take it's passengers safely through the Umbra, they are some of the most complicated Talismans the Traditions know how to make, a Verditius or a Etherite would be able to tell you more about them than me though."

'I would like that," he said. Then he turned his attention on getting the NWO agent, all the while awaiting any sense of tricks. He was wary of course. Nothing had quite worked out the way he thought it would over the last two days and he saw no reason for that trend not to continue. Instead of worrying about it though he just kept on his toes.

"That is the Mary Helena headed for Horizon this evening." Jeffry explained then he pointed to what looked like a rather bulky space ship. "That is a Void Engineer Deep Umbral exploration vessel, they are probably docking for repairs and supplies before heading out again, I do not know much about it though."

As much as he wouldn't admit it, the space ship -was- impressive, as impressive as the umbral frigate, if even more novel. It as a shame that they were Technocratic devices, all the same. A place like this seemed impossible, as if a fight should break out at any time as one group tried to claim it for their side. But it existed. It was indeed some kind of marvel.

Jeffry looks at Vera and sigh. "I was going to just leave her here but I guess there is always a chance she might wander off in her dazed state and hurt herself or get into trouble in other ways before she is found. Stay here with her and keep your eyes open, I will find one of the damned Void Engineers, this Technocrat can burn for all I care...but a deal is a deal, and this is more or less neutral ground, prisoner exchanges have happened here quite often."

This was far more care than he'd seen his pater give any Technocrat, deal or not and whether or not he'd said she could burn. That spoke to how bad things were with the Nephandi as well as the honour of his word. "Yes, very well." Then he waited to see if Vera was going to try anything as this seemed the most likely time to pull something off, at the ready to deal with her in whatever way might be prudent. He scrutinized her hands, her eyes, her body language...the general area where they were waiting...for a signs of change.

"Yes we do not need to bind them to that task, only direct them and allow them to leave it should they desire, you could set up such a direction that if they leave their task they leave the Chantry so that we do not have a couple of dozen gafflings wandering around the Chantry causing mischief."
The old mage said then he nodded.
"No I agree the best thing is is to give them a task, if they want one and if not, well i guess we can let them be."

'I would like that,"

"Then we will find an appropriate time for it."
The old mage said with a smile.
"It will be nice to do something for a change where lives and souls do not hang in the balance."

Vera where still drugged but she was a little more alert than when you left the Chantry, obviously the drug left her system quicker than most, but it should still be a good time before she came to.
"P...Patrick I should have...protected him."
Agent Kessinger managed to say, her voice a bit far of and she was not really speaking to anyone, it was simply the thing on the forefront of her drugged mind, who she should have protected the boy from where hard to know, the Director perhaps, the Nephandi or perhaps the Traditions?

In the distance you now see your mentor arrive with a tall man with brown hair, the two men did not speak to one another and rather pointedly did not look at one another, they would reach you rather quickly they where only now at the entrance to the main building and needed to cross a parking lot and the street first.

"I am suddenly envisioning the Pied Piper, for some reason..." he said with a small wry smile. He nodded. "I will see if there is something they would be predisposed to do, such as the books. As soon as I get a moment."

"Then we will find an appropriate time for it."The old mage said with a smile. "It will be nice to do something for a change where lives and souls do not hang in the balance."

He couldn't imagine it would be any time soon then. But that was the way it was and so he simply said, "Thank you."

"P...Patrick I should have...protected him." Agent Kessinger managed to say, her voice a bit far of and she was not really speaking to anyone...

Adley frowned at her. There wasn't anything he could say, even if she should remember or not. It was easy to feel like, yes, she should have. But no doubt she would be living with that, if it was what she was thinking of now, even in a drug induced haze. For a moment he remembered both his brother, and that his mentor had asked him to help find a new apprentice. To protect him or her. Narim's worry about awakening his own protege into their world, how dangerous it was, how he might protect them. And of course he thought of Patrick, what he'd told him and what he'd come to realise. That he would be on that ship, going to Horizon, for trial and likely execution for being a confirmed Nephandus. But he had no words to say to her and so he kept his silence, waiting for his mentor to return with someone to escort her away.

In the distance you now see your mentor arrive with a tall man with brown hair, the two men did not speak to one another and rather pointedly did not look at one another, they would reach you rather quickly they where only now at the entrance to the main building and needed to cross a parking lot and the street first

He saw them...kept himself alert as they approached.

"I am suddenly envisioning the Pied Piper, for some reason..." he said with a small wry smile. He nodded. "I will see if there is something they would be predisposed to do, such as the books. As soon as I get a moment."

"Yeah I can see it now, you walk first and then you have rope of little gafflings following in your wake."
Jeffry said and gave an amused laugh.
"It would be quite the sight. But yes I agree, you should see it there is any task you can set them to, it is getting a moment though that seam to be the biggest problem here."

He saw them...kept himself alert as they approached.

The two men mage their way across the parking lot and over the road and soon they where standing by the bench you where sitting at. The man with your mentor was tall and handsome, he was wearing some kind of uniform though the garment gave him quite a bit of freedom in his movements.
"Agent Kessinger...yes we got a phone call last night saying she and her Amalgam where missing."
The man in the uniform said as he walked over to the drugged woman and looked her over with some concern.
"The rest of her Amalgam?"
He asked and Jeffry simply replied with.
"They are dead."
His voice was calm but you can see the hatred his his eyes.
"I see, did your side kill them?"
The stranger asked, there where no accusation in his voice, there where a war going on, there would be casualties, he just wanted to know.
"No the Nephandi did."
Your mentor offered then to stop the Technocrat's flow of questions he simply said.
"The reason this woman is not also dead though is simply that it was quicker to offer her freedom for her knowledge of the Nephandi, than to force the information out of her."
The old Hermetic said his voice hard and angry, it was clear he would rather Vera Kessinger where dead, but he was a man of his word, with a angry motion he took the letter of warning he had prepared and gave it to what had to be a Void Engineer.
"The Nephandi will go after your holdings as well as ours to try to bolster their ranks."
He simply said then he turned away. The Void Engineer helped Agent Kessinger to her feet and then begun to lead her away.
"Thank you."
He suddenly said, but if the gratitude was for the return of one of their own, or for the information was unclear. You can feel the heat around Jeffry Morgan rising and that static electricity make your hair stand on end, just like George Steelhaven who's Mastery of Time allowed him to know when he would have visitors whatever he wanted to or not, and Amadeus Nassa never got sick, there where subtle manifestations of your mentor's Mastery of Forces, especially when he was angry or otherwise felt strong emotions, his facial expression never changed though, only his eyes showed his anger as he glared at the two Technocrats.
"Oh one thing, I hope the red haired extraor...ehm Hedge Wizard made it back safely."
The Void Engineer said as he was on his way back towards the main building, supporting Vera as he went, not waiting for a reply, he probably felt it was best to leave while the going was good, and as you felt your hairs rise with the static in the air, that is probably a wise choice.

He waited for the exchange to be over, feeling the sensation of an impending thunderstorm or lightning strike, that prickling all over his skin and heat caused by the rage building in his mentor. As the Void Engineer said something about a red-haired hedge wizard, he felt a flicker of confusion. He had no idea whom he was referring to. Then he looked askance to his mentor as the pair moved away and said, "Pater, I believe it is time to go. We would not wish to be late." Hopefully, the reminder that he had a Master Telar awaiting him would stop him from burning a hole straight into the backs of the two Technocrats. Following that thought was a feeling of dark irony at the situation - any other day, he thought, but not today.

Jeffry Morgan glanced at his apprentice and nodded, he was still enraged though he kept it under control, slowly though as the Technocrats left he sigh.
"You are right, we would not want to be late."
He muttered in agreement and walked back to the car.
"Can you please tell Beatrice to inform her sister to be careful who she talks to."
The old Hermetic said as he reached his car and opened the door.
"It is never a good thing when a Technocrat inquire about a Traditionalist's safety."

Jeffry Morgan waited for his apprentice to get into the car then he let out a sigh, releasing some of his anger with it.
"The next time we see Agent Kessinger..."
He said not completing that sentence, though chances was that seeing Jeffry Morgan again would not end well for the fair haired Technocrat.

The old Hermetic started his car and repeated the same simple ritual to open the portal back into physical reality, he took the time to glance into the reflection at the car rental shop's window to see if there where any sleepers around, finding the coast was clear he drove through the portal and there where a slightly tingly feeling as the car and the two mages in it again found themselves in fully manifested reality.
"How will you get to the University from here Adley?"
Jeffry said as he found a parking spot and exited his car.
"I am sure I could drop you off on the way back, or you can rent a car from the fine establishment who's windows we use as a portal into the Umbra, though from how those cars looked in their Umbral reflection, I might not be so eager to recommend them."
The old mage said then he asked.
"Well in either case if you have the time to wait until I have met Master Telar I can drop you off at your work before heading to Steelhaven, if not then I will see you later this day for the meeting at least."
The Hermetic said, he was still angry, many would not be able to see that in the finely controlled features of the old mage, he just looked as gruff as he always did, but you could see it in his eyes, though that anger was slowly fading now that you where away from the objects of his ire.

"Can you please tell Beatrice to inform her sister to be careful who she talks to." The old Hermetic said as he reached his car and opened the door. "It is never a good thing when a Technocrat inquire about a Traditionalist's safety."

He sighed. "As if we needed something else to be concerned about." He opened the passenger side front and got in.

"The next time we see Agent Kessinger..." He said not completing that sentence

Kessinger had been too out of it at the time to remember anything, he figured, at least at the time. So that meant Colin and the Chantry were safe enough, relatively. But the Void Engineer had seen them and would no doubt tell her or her superiors who dumped her at the Docks. The next time they saw one another might well be another firefight, or a sniper hit. Back to watching his back, not that he wouldn't've been after the previous day. Now that he was up front he watched his pater open the way and drive the car through, back into normal space, falling quiet until they parked at the airport.

"How will you get to the University from here Adley?" Jeffry said as he found a parking spot and exited his car. "I am sure I could drop you off on the way back, or you can rent a car from the fine establishment who's windows we use as a portal into the Umbra, though from how those cars looked in their Umbral reflection, I might not be so eager to recommend them."

"I can take the bus from the terminal, transfer to the T. I wouldn't want to bother you, especially if someone is fetching me back," he said, getting out and shutting the car door. "I'll see to getting my car patched up as soon as I can, again in my hypothetical free moments. Beatrice told me who looked over our cars at home, so I shall contact him and see about it."

"Well in either case if you have the time to wait until I have met Master Telar I can drop you off at your work before heading to Steelhaven, if not then I will see you later this day for the meeting at least." The Hermetic said, he was still angry... though that anger was slowly fading now that you where away from the objects of his ire.

"I will see you after class then at the meeting. Please give my regards to Master Telar and thank her for helping me. I look forward to meeting her. And thank you for the offer for a ride," he added.

He sighed. "As if we needed something else to be concerned about." He opened the passenger side front and got in.

"No that is the last thing we need."
Jeffry muttered as he started the car.
"And I am not so sure about this linear Vebena, she might become a problem, we will see, I am in either case not to pleased with having more of Amadeus Nassa's various magickal relatives at the Chantry, but George agreed to let her move in, hell perhaps it will be a good thing and having another of his former apprentices around will keep the old Verbena from causing trouble if things do not go well with Miss Alexander, but I doubt it.

"Ah yes the Etherite over at Riverside, yes he do good work, speak with Mr Darehill, he is the one that usually arrange for his former Cabalmate to come and repair our cars when we need it."
Jeffry said as he slowly walked beside his student.
"Very well then I will leave you here to arrange transportation to your place of employment."
The old mage said.

"I will see you after class then at the meeting. Please give my regards to Master Telar and thank her for helping me. I look forward to meeting her. And thank you for the offer for a ride," he added.

"I will go that."
Jeffry said and nodded.
"Very well then mea filius, have a good day."
The old Hermetic said with a nod of his head before he hurried towards the airport's main building, there was a bit of a spring in his step, he was clearly looking forward to seeing this mysterious Master of Spirit.

Coawa looks at his friend before the mage went to drive with the two mage woman.
"I think the plan was that you ride with the woman and I with Ryan and Colin so both cars have one person who can see spirits."
The wereshark explain.
"I feel something dark and corrupted, it feels, dirty and still like water that have been left in a bowl to rot, I also get a sense of pain and despair. It smell like rot. The sound are wrong, like one note that is completely out of place in the greater song of this area's spirit world, it feel like the Qyrl..."
Coawa said and seamed rather agitated and angry.

It made him think of Helena though and wondered how she was doing. He should write her a letter. "She must have a penchant for trouble, to already have been noticed by the Technocracy," he said.

"Ah yes the Etherite over at Riverside, yes he do good work, speak with Mr Darehill, he is the one that usually arrange for his former Cabalmate to come and repair our cars when we need it."

"I will go that." Jeffry said and nodded. "Very well then mea filius, have a good day."

"Good day, pater." He started to walk away, turning to watch him as he headed towards the main entry and then headed for the Silver line bus at the terminal. He should have enough time to stop off and drop the letters at Lux Iternis but he was going to miss lunch. He should have brought something. Ah well, he would have to subsist on coffee and whatever was left in the teacher's lounge.

"Have you met her? And what is her name?"

Bianca Rizzo is her name and yes I met her briefly yesterday, she and Rosa Olson who had been sent to meet her was attacked by this Lisa person, Miss Rizzo delivered her report to me.

"Well, perhaps having someone to talk to will be good for Beatrice..." Or perhaps she would be a bad influence, who knew. It made him think of Helena though and wondered how she was doing. He should write her a letter. "She must have a penchant for trouble, to already have been noticed by the Technocracy," he said.

"According to Miss Rizzo a Technocrat, a Void Engineer I presume saved her life, I think that was probably the same Technocrat that we just met. I do think she might be good for Miss Alexander but I also think that girl will be a handful."
Jeffry said and sigh.

He nodded. "I will do that. Speaking of him, we should make sure he is safe..."

"Yes absolutely, for now I have ordered him not to leave the Chantry without an escort, something he accepted...after some protest, but yes we should arrange something more organized for protecting him, and for that matter George, he is a Master of Time after all, but our Deacon Primus seldom leave the Chantry and he is more likely to be able to defend himself than an Adept."

"Good day, pater." He started to walk away, turning to watch him as he headed towards the main entry and then headed for the Silver line bus at the terminal. The bus ride are pleasant enough, it is not overcrowded today and you arrive at the university on good time. You have a bit more than half an hour before your class is to start.

(OOC: I am just wanting to check that not both you Strife and Warp are waiting for the other to post in the meeting thread, if either of you have not had the time to post then that is absolutely fine, post when you have the time, I just have a bit of a feeling that both are waiting for the other to post and if so that misunderstanding should be cleared up, however if it is anything else just ignore this post.)

(OOC 2: I am GMing for my group today so I will probably not be able to post again before late tonight.)

"I see. It's good that she got away then, considering what we know now about -her.- We've gotten a few new people recently, haven't we?" he mused.

"According to Miss Rizzo a Technocrat, a Void Engineer I presume saved her life, I think that was probably the same Technocrat that we just met. I do think she might be good for Miss Alexander but I also think that girl will be a handful." Jeffry said and sigh.

Adley nodded at that. "Well, he's seen three of our faces now. I wouldn't be surprised if he gave our descriptions out to the other Conventions, after this even if he is not directly involved."

"Good, please keep me updated."

He put the material he was reviewing for his linguistics class away when he got to his stop. He walked quickly to the gate at Lux Iternis, keeping a lookout for people along the way and before addressing Uragi, stating his current business and name as usual.

// Yes, I was waiting for Warp to reply to the meeting thread, since I went and so did you Anja. Have a good time at your game!

((OOC: Sorry, long, lazy day; I've suffered a bit of can'tbearseditis all day... Getting around to it now.))

--- Wednesday, Airport ---
((OOC: Not much for Colin to do until Tane and Coawa have sorted out things, I suppose... Or until we make it north to the marsh.))

--- Thursday, Meeting ---
Colin nodded, "I shall be as... cautious as I deem necessary in referring to my affiliations here at the Chantry. I will, of course, avoid outright deception, but a few details can probably be safely omitted unless inquired about."
At the description of Enforcers, he arched an eyebrow; "Passionate corruption hunters, as opposed to the, hm, Lawful Evil officials who would use the letter of the law to break the spirit of it... While I like the idea, I find that such zealotry does tend to become so much pavement on a road all too well documented. But if needs must be..."
"As for the phylactery option, I must admit I'm with Beatrice on that question - we should reserve that option as the absolutely last resort if the process remains... experimental. But if possible, i think it might be beneficial to know a few more details about the process. Well, at least beneficial to those with the necessary insight to understand said details, of course."

(meeting)

"I understand his reluctance, the thought of loosing a Cabalmate in such a way...no if at all possible we will leave Mr Allen to his grief in peace, we have as far as you say Mr Roth Hicks the information we need from him, confirmation that Miss Florentine's Avatar was cleansed. Now far more valuable would be the Masters who examined her."

He nodded. "That would probably help but it appeared that the gilgul went forward anyway, regardless. I do wonder what those that examined her thought of that." He frowned.

Amadeus: "Perhaps we should contact an Enforcer, this seam to be right up their alley."
Jeffry: "Perhaps but they are no great fans of the Fallen, they might put your apprentice in as much danger as the D'Angelos if we get the wrong one.
George: "Well then, we will need to wait and see if we can get those court documents before we decide if going before the Nine...
Colin: At the description of Enforcers, he arched an eyebrow; "Passionate corruption hunters, as opposed to the, hm, Lawful Evil officials who would use the letter of the law to break the spirit of it... While I like the idea, I find that such zealotry does tend to become so much pavement on a road all too well documented. But if needs must be..."

Adley sighed, frowning as he listened. He tended to be a man of his word himself though and it seemed wrong to use the letter of the law to break the spirit of it - then again, with the way this writ was worded, it was impossible to tell if it had been an oversight or left vague on purpose. At this juncture, it hardly mattered. What they had were the letters that made up the words of the writ and unless that changed, it was that document they would have to use. "I don't know enough about the Enforcers of the Cult of Ecstasy to give an opinion on this option, other than to agree that bringing in another unknown -may- mean that we get someone who is biased one way or the other. If someone might elaborate a little more on the purpose of the Enforcer, how they might intervene...?"

Jeffry:"I do not know about a phylactery Primus, we can always ask Miss Telar she was the leader of the team that created the artificial phylactery you speak of...however such a thing have been completed once, by a team of the best researchers the Traditions have, I doubt we could spare the resources to do it
Bea:"Well a little hope is better than no hope, but I would not want my Avatar to be experimented upon."
Colin: "As for the phylactery option, I must admit I'm with Beatrice on that question - we should reserve that option as the absolutely last resort if the process remains... experimental. But if possible, i think it might be beneficial to know a few more details about the process. Well, at least beneficial to those with the necessary insight to understand said details, of course."

"To recap thus far, Colin will try to speak with Mister Gregario, hopefully Miss Florentine will be willing to speak with him and perhaps we might get a copy of her court documents. We will also see if we can find the magii that examined Susanna's avatar, if possible. We will also attempt to see if we can determine the current political and social environment of the Council which will impact current affairs. The option of the phylactery should be held in reserve as a last resort, but something we also need to investigate for feasibility at any rate. Colin and myself have given statements on behalf of Beatrice against the judge, which the Primus himself took. There is a spirit watcher over Beatrice, aiding in providing her an alibi. Beatrice has also consented to have a sample of her avatar taken to show that she did not partake of the node, requested by Chief Morgan to be done by Master Telar."

He looked at the others around the table and then continued. "In order to gather a support base against the judges and their supporters would take time; although there was an initial outcry, there has been no lasting outcomes since, it seems, have there? In order to stir sentiment like that up again, we would have to find out who was in support of Susanna being set free, or at least put the word out regarding similar events that have happened in the past...so we will need both time and a strong and clear message. Have I forgotten anything we've discussed yet?"

He turned back to regard the Primus first and then turned his head to include everyone else. "I have a concern that simply discrediting the one judge will not be enough to wholly stop the attack. Nature abhors a vacuum, what if her brother turns up in tandem as reinforcement? Forgive me for thinking of worst case scenarios, but it might be prudent to consider the D'Angelo twins as a pair. We do not know what her brother is up to, perhaps he is busy with his own affairs of course. But I am sure she has made him aware."

Post by Anja Rebekka Schultze Sun Aug 02, 2015 5:14 am

Thursday meeting:

Colin nodded, "I shall be as... cautious as I deem necessary in referring to my affiliations here at the Chantry. I will, of course, avoid outright deception, but a few details can probably be safely omitted unless inquired about."

Jeffry looked at Colin and nodded.
"I agree there are details you do not need to offer up, however do be honest with them, I have a feeling that if the Mercere find out about any deception then we loose any chance that we will allow us to talk with his apprentice."
The old mage commented.

"We can be pretty sure an Enforcer would not approve of Vittoria D'Angelo's actions, however I have a feeling he or she would not much approve of Miss Alexander either."
George said and Jeffry nodded.
"I agree, I tend to think that calling in a Enforcer would be best reserved for if we fail and..."
The old Hermetic glanced at Beatrice and worded himself as delicately as he could.
"There are no longer a reason to protect Miss Alexander and the goal have shifted to make sure it do not happen again."
George nodded at that but did not comment.
Beatrice shivered and looked down, the young Verbena was starting to look rather frightened as the conversation went on.

"It have been done only once, in a completely different situation."
George said.
"It was never a desirable solution and was a long shot at best, a plan B to give some hope. However yes we certainly do need more information about the subject."
The old mage said. Jeffry nodded.
"We do at that, I will ask Master Telar about that as well during dinner, she lead the team that constructed the other man made phylactery after all."

He nodded. "That would probably help but it appeared that the gilgul went forward anyway, regardless. I do wonder what those that examined her thought of that." He frowned.

"So do I mea filius, so do I. If I had been in that situation I would be rather upset about it."
The old Flambeau commented dryly.

"And Cult of Ecstasy Enforcer would have the same rank as our Quaesitores, meaning they could protest Vittoria D'Angelo's actions, if we could get a hold of a senior one, as such that person might halt the Quaesitor's plans, remember the reason why she can do what she is planning to is that she i the senior judge of this Tribunal, a lesser Quasitor would have to come through her for approval to move against a member of the Tribunal, however off course The Enforcers tend to be fanatics themselves so there is also a chance they would welcome the removal of a corrupted Avatar from the Cycle."
Jeffry said and seamed to regret how he had worded himself when he saw how Beatrice jumped at his mention of removing her Avatar from the Cycle.
"In either case calling one could be a great boon, but also a great risk."

"That should about sum it up."
Jeffry nodded.
"Mr Wainwright should try to contact Mr Gregario as soon as possible. I will take Miss Alexander to have the sample taken right after the meeting."
The olf Hermetic said and Beatrice looked terrified her fingernails dug into the palms of her hands and she had grown ashen pale but she nodded weakly. Jeffry Morgan looked at the Verbena and sigh before he continue.
"I will also speak with Master Telar about the phylactery and if she know who examined Miss Florentine before her...unfortunate circumstances occurred."
The war mage concluded and George chimed in.
"I will contact my allies on Horizon and examine the political climate there to figure out if asking for a re trial is a viable option. Also the statements that Mr Roth Hicks and Mr Wainwright have provided have now been sent along with an official complaint."
The old Guernicus confirmed.

"The problem Hermetic is that we do not have time, and finding out who where in support of letting Miss Florentine go would mean going to Horizon most likely and start asking questions."
Amadeus said gruffly.
"Hum..maybe, however there are a small but very vocal group on Horizon, mostly young magi though, who are speaking up against the use of the Gilgul rite altogether, chances are they would know some of these details, the leader of this group are a Dreamspeaker by the name of Tsetseg Ankhbayar, I have a feeling she will know some of the details we seek."
George commented then he smiles to Adley.
"No I do not think you have missed anything thus far discussed Mr Roth Hicks."
The ancient mage commented.

"I agree, Mr D'Angelo are the senior Quaesitor of the Los Angeles Tribunal, as another senior judge if he desired he could pick up right where his sister left of, and we have to assume that he would so desire."
George said.
"And no since the question are sure to come up, moving Beatrice to a different Tribunal will not help, what makes a senior Quaesitor dangerous is that they can move alone, a lesser judge would need their senior's approval, but the D'Angelos could demand Miss Alexander's stay lifted no matter where she is, as they are free to act as they see fit, only the Primus of House Guernicus and the Council of Nine have the authority to order them to drop a case."

(OOC: Sorry for the late reply we ended up playing for quite a while. I will start working on the university post now.)

Post by Anja Rebekka Schultze Sun Aug 02, 2015 5:35 am

Thursday afternoon:

"I see. It's good that she got away then, considering what we know now about -her.- We've gotten a few new people recently, haven't we?" he mused.

"It is good that Miss Rizzo got away yes. I would not want to see the girl come to harm and yes if she had fallen into enemy hands that would be complicated."
Jeffry commented and sigh but then he smiles.
"Steelhaven is growing yes, new members, apprentices being Awakened, good, it is good the Chantry is so lively."

Adley nodded at that. "Well, he's seen three of our faces now. I wouldn't be surprised if he gave our descriptions out to the other Conventions, after this even if he is not directly involved."

"Yes he probably will."
The old war mage say and sigh.
"Many forgive the Void Engineers, I do not, they might not take part in hunting other magi down and killing us, but they help those that do. If there had been no Void Engineers the Union would have a huge problem in maintaining their Umbreal holdings for example. I assume you have heard about the slave colony of Mecha mea filius, where the Technocracy get allot of their tass, by sucking it out of mages they work to death building their machines, they even go so far as to force Sleepers Awaken to fill the ranks among their workers, well if the Void Engineers refused to transport personnel and prisoners, there would be no Mecha. I hold them just as guilty as the rest of the union and I would not hesitate to kill one of their number."
The old magus said and anger flickered in his eyes again then he sigh.
"Though I once stayed my hand against one of them."
He added halfway to himself.
"In either case our Umbra traveler friend will probably tell the rest of the Technocrats all he have seen, so do watch your back mea filius."
The old war mage said in an concerned tone of voice.

"Good, please keep me updated."

"I will do that."

Later at the university:

He put the material he was reviewing for his linguistics class away when he got to his stop. He walked quickly to the gate at Lux Iternis, keeping a lookout for people along the way and before addressing Uragi, stating his current business and name as usual.

As you start to make your way through the university hallways towards the half forgotten hallway leading to a archive room, you hear someone call your name before you leave the main part of your university. You see Mary Williams, one of the students in your class, a hard working young woman who where studying archeology and related topics.
"Mr Roth Hicks wait please."
Mary said and ran to catch up with you.
"Mr Lenoe left a letter for you in my care late last night after his class on ancient Greek philosophy."
The young woman said and rummage though her bag to produce a envelope with your name on the front and she hand it to you. Dennis Lenoe was another teacher at the university but you had only met him in passing, he taught night classes and kept himself to himself.
"Here I just wanted to hand it off to you before I left for work."
Mary said, the girl was one of those students who did not have the benefit of rich parents so in addition to taking a full set of classes, and a few extra ones, she also had to support herself by working part time in the university bookstore, she looked tired but the papers she wrote where usually well done and the questions she asked sound.
"Okey then I am off, have a nice afternoon Mr Roth Hicks."
The young university student said and waved her hand before collecting her bag again and darting off towards her job.

(OOC: Yeah we sort of did go on, we did at that. I did have fun with my game, thank you.

Warp no problem there is no need to feel you have to post every day the game is supposed to be fun when you have the time, I was just making sure the both of you where not waiting for one another.)

"Yes he probably will." The old war mage say and sigh. "Many forgive the Void Engineers, I do not...I assume you have heard about the slave colony of Mecha mea filius...well if the Void Engineers refused to transport personnel and prisoners, there would be no Mecha. I hold them just as guilty as the rest of the union and I would not hesitate to kill one of their number."

He nodded. "Yes, I have." He frowned, thinking of Hank and the look in the young man's eyes. It was true what his pater said. Still he wondered if the Void Engineers would be next to fall out from the rest of the Conventions but it seemed that they did not yet find enough reason or power to do so. Or perhaps they simply did not want to and were quite content with the current situation, succeeding in the status quo as it were. He recalled the letter that was sent

"Though I once stayed my hand against one of them." He added halfway to himself. "In either case our Umbra traveler friend will probably tell the rest of the Technocrats all he have seen, so do watch your back mea filius."

He looked surprised at that admission but didn't inquire further. "You as well. "

(BU)

You see Mary Williams, one of the students in your class, a hard working young woman who where studying archeology and related topics. "Mr Roth Hicks wait please...Mr Lenoe left a letter for you in my care late last night after his class on ancient Greek philosophy."

He looked around, then came to a stop to let the student catch up to him, placing her from his class. "Thank you, Ms Williams," he said, taking the letter. "Oh, on your last paper, I've replied to your question. Let me know if there was anything that didn't seem clear at the end next class." He nodded to her and then added, "Have a good day at work," in Greek with a small smile. He looked at the letter and then opened it as he waited for her to clear the area again and so he didn't look suspicious.

(meeting)
Amadeus: "The problem Hermetic is that we do not have time, and finding out who where in support of letting Miss Florentine go would mean going to Horizon most likely and start asking questions." Amadeus said gruffly.

"That has not escaped me, yes, time is of the essence," he said. He found himself biting down a comment upon being called 'Hermetic' as if it were an insult but it wasn't worth the argument. There were more important things to talk about.

George: "Hum..maybe, however there are a small but very vocal group on Horizon, mostly young magi though, who are speaking up against the use of the Gilgul rite altogether, chances are they would know some of these details, the leader of this group are a Dreamspeaker by the name of Tsetseg Ankhbayar, I have a feeling she will know some of the details we seek."

He nodded. If there was the opportunity, then they could see about that. He wasn't sure if he agreed with them that the rite was completely without use, not until there was a better way of dealing with Nephandi. But it should be used sparingly, he thought.

"I agree, Mr D'Angelo are the senior Quaesitor of the Los Angeles Tribunal, as another senior judge if he desired he could pick up right where his sister left of, and we have to assume that he would so desire." George said.

"So we have two highly mobile and powerful Senior judges...is there no one above them other than the Council itself, the Primus of their House, or the Enforcers who are their own level?"

// Glad you had fun ^_^ Long gaming sessions can be awesome! Wondering if Adley would be using his mundane name at the college instead of his mage society name - whatever is on his driver's license kind of thing, which would be Mr Tuller, from what happened with the cars the day before.

And no prob Warp, been there, done that myself.

University:

"Oh, on your last paper, I've replied to your question. Let me know if there was anything that didn't seem clear at the end next class." "Ah thank you so much, I will let you know if I am wondering about anything else."
Mary said and smiled then replied in Greek.
"Thank you, have a good day as well."
Before she headed off.

The letter was written in a neat, elegant hand and it said.

"Mr Roth Hicks
I know you are a magician of some sort and I need to ask your advice of something of utmost importance to me, please give me a call so we can arrange a meeting. I mean you no harm and if you do not respond to this letter I will not bother you again, however this is about the well being of a young man I believe to be of your kind.
Dennis Lenoe."

Meeting:

"That has not escaped me, yes, time is of the essence," he said. He found himself biting down a comment upon being called 'Hermetic' as if it were an insult but it wasn't worth the argument. There were more important things to talk about.

Amadeus said nothing more but he glared at you non the less. Beatrice gave you a small, apologetic smile for the way her mentor spoke to you.

"So we have two highly mobile and powerful Senior judges...is there no one above them other than the Council itself, the Primus of their House, or the Enforcers who are their own level?"

"No, the only other institution that would be over them when it comes to legal issues are a Quaesitors Tribunal where the Judges meet and discuss the misconduct of one of their own, other senior Judges to off course would have the same authority as them, and age matters, an older Quaesitor could overrule them, but there are not that many mages fit to serve as judges that are older than that pair who are still on Earth due to Paradox."
George explained.
"Now their authority go only as far as the law and enforcing the law, but within that sphere of influence only a Tribunal of their peers, and older judge our Primus and the Nine are above them."
The old mage commented.

(OOC: Yeah long gaming sessions are fun. If you want Adley to use his mundane name for his work then I can change to using it when it comes to the university, I was just thinking he would try to keep it as hidden as possible to avoid any mages finding it, but it is up to you, I can have his students use Mr Tuller, if so that is also how he would be addressed in the letter in this post.)

Dennis Lenoe."

He read the letter twice. Damn. This was the last thing he needed...how the -hell- did Professor Lenoe think he was a magician? No, worse, not think. Know. Mean him no harm...he shook his head and put the letter away. Then he felt another pang of anger at the fact he'd left this letter with a student...even if she was a well behaved one, his student! It looked like this was going to be his last semester here, he thought ruefully. He didn't know Mr Lenoe's angle on this...he didn't know much about him other than he taught night classes and kept to himself but if there was an awakened Traditionalist here in trouble it could not be ignored, of course. Which made it a lovely bait for a trap. With a frown, he headed over to the gate, with -extra- care. Somehow he'd been observed. Either the man had seen him at the gate at some point, seen him do something that told him he was a mage, or could sense that he was one. He did not seem to include himself into his group however. He didn't have the time to call him at the moment...but then something hit him. Hank. Philosophy. Shit. He would talk to Hank's mentor, see if he was alright and at the Chantry first. Then see what Mr Lenoe had to say. He hoped Hank was unharmed, he had faced enough troubles.

//that's fine as is then, whatever would be safest for him to use is the name he would use, that's all!

You get to the mural of the old castle and call Uragi, as usual the spider spirit seamed as pleased to see you as a lower Earth Elemental could, he stamped his long, thin legs eagerly and immediately begun to weave his web as the young Hermetic stated his reason to visit Lux Itineris. The portal opened and Uragi retreated back into it' dark corner of the Umbra, the smell of damp earth and feel of old worn rocks lingering in the air around it.

Inside of the entrance hall the only one you see is Nico, she or perhaps he was headed from the cafeteria with a large sandwich in one hand and a glass of milk in the other, she was headed in the direction of her workshop but she stopped when Adley stepped through Uragi's portal.
"Ah...ehm...hi member of Bruce's Cabal that I have forgotten the name of."
The Verditius said with a big grin.
"Apparently you are starting to become a somewhat regular face around these parts.."
The artificer commented, beside her and Uragi there where no one around, everyone at the Chantry where busy with their own lives.
"Do you need any help finding your way or have you gotten the feel for the place yet."
Nico said and gave another big smile then she asks.
"So...ehm...how is Bruce? I have tried to get a hold of him, but he is not answering his phone."

(Enochian) "Hello friend," he says to Uragi after calling him and then added before he left, "Your children have appeared, I will greet them soon, those who would protect that which is with me. I thank you."

"Ah...ehm...hi member of Bruce's Cabal that I have forgotten the name of." The Verditius said with a big grin. "Apparently you are starting to become a somewhat regular face around these parts.."

When he saw Nico he smiled a little. At least it was someone he knew that was not hostile. "Hello, Nico, was it? Yes, I suppose I am appearing somewhat regularly. Adley Roth Hicks, bani Flambeau," he said, giving her a nod.

"Do you need any help finding your way or have you gotten the feel for the place yet." Nico said and gave another big smile then she asks."So...ehm...how is Bruce? I have tried to get a hold of him, but he is not answering his phone."

"Thank you for your hospitality. I am looking for Laisa Tarmen Bani Mercere, I don't suppose you might know where I can find her, or her student, Mister Jones? As for Bruce, he is currently indisposed but I will let him know that you were asking after him as soon as I see him myself. I can't tell you exactly when that will be though but please do not take it as a personal affront that he has not answered you." A Seeking was a private matter; if Bruce wanted to share what he was doing he would but he didn't want Nico to think anything untoward had happened to him.

(Enochian) "Hello friend," he says to Uragi after calling him and then added before he left, "Your children have appeared, I will greet them soon, those who would protect that which is with me. I thank you."

Uragi seamed pleased at that.
"Uragi's children will...protect...it is what...they are."
It said quite proudly, it care for it's offspring, though if those feelings where anything a human would recognize as caring was hard to say.

When he saw Nico he smiled a little. At least it was someone he knew that was not hostile. "Hello, Nico, was it? Yes, I suppose I am appearing somewhat regularly. Adley Roth Hicks, bani Flambeau," he said, giving her a nod.

"Ah yes...that was your name, sorry I can remember chemical compositions and numbers...but names...not so much...yes Nico that is right."
The young Verditius said and smile.

"Thank you for your hospitality. I am looking for Laisa Tarmen Bani Mercere, I don't suppose you might know where I can find her, or her student, Mister Jones?

"Well Miss Tarmen are in her study, it is way up in one of the spires, I can take you but she is not in a good mood today, and frankly I understand her. Alphonse...you know the Deacon have beaten Gwen...his student again, quite badly this time and Laisa being a bit of a hen mother have taken the girl in however Miss D'Angelo demand she give the apprentice back so there are a bit of an ice front among some of the big wigs."
Nico said and sigh.
"Hank I think is delivering letters to the local Chantries and he have a class, you know in the sleeper university outside afterwards, at least that is what he told me when I calibrated one of his talismans for him earlier today."
The young Verditius said.
"That is whee allot of the talismans my House make end up, with the Red Caps, they often can not use magick themselves so they substitute, which off course means we get allot of business from them which result in more founds for research...I like Red Caps."
Nico said then she blushed and stopped her flow of words.
"Oh but I talk to much, I am so sorry...ehm yes Laisa's office, just follow me."

The young artificer begun to lead the way up several stairs and deeper into the Chantry, here and there you see other member of Lux Itineris, det beautiful dark skinned woman you saw last time where hurrying down a corridor with a book in her hands, and two young men where arguing about the correct way to perform a given rote by one of the windows.

As for Bruce, he is currently indisposed but I will let him know that you were asking after him as soon as I see him myself. I can't tell you exactly when that will be though but please do not take it as a personal affront that he has not answered you."

"Ah...ok...I thought perhaps he had found something better to do."
Nico said and glanced back at the war mage.
"Or that he realized that I am a rebis, that scare quite a few away, like if we are all guilty because one idiot betrayed the Traditions five hundred years ago."
The Verditius said and sigh.
"But then I will contact him later, we are making armor you see. I have this compound that make glass all but indestructible, but he have this idea for how to apply that to clothing and if we can pull that off, it will be awesome...or...it will blow up...well it will most likely blow up, but it could work."
Nico said in an exiting tone of voice, gesticulating with her lunch as she did so.
"I just need to get the compound to last more than a few hours first...well do tell him hello from me."
The hermaphrodite said and grinned.

"Ah yes...that was your name, sorry I can remember chemical compositions and numbers...but names...not so much...yes Nico that is right." The young Verditius said and smile.

"You may call me Adley, if it is easier to remember. You are of House Verditius?"

He frowned, recalling Gwen from the other day and wondering what had gotten her in trouble with her mentor. "I see." He looked conflicted for a moment and then began to follow Nico towards the Mercere's study, keeping an eye out for landmarks so he could remember the way back. He didn't have an abundance of time and didn't want to spend it getting lost.

"Hank I think is delivering letters to the local Chantries and he have a class, you know in the sleeper university outside afterwards, at least that is what he told me when I calibrated one of his talismans for him earlier today."

"Yes, I do know of the university," he agreed. "He has class later tonight?" If Hank was going to the same class he had been the other evening, or one at the same time, then it was possible Lenoe was indeed his professor.

"Do not trouble yourself, I am not offended."

"Ah...ok...I thought perhaps he had found something better to do." Nico said and glanced back at the war mage. "Or that he realized that I am a rebis, that scare quite a few away, like if we are all guilty because one idiot betrayed the Traditions five hundred years ago."

Adley raised an eyebrow at Nico. "I'm sorry but I'm not familiar with the term..." He looked at her, taking a minute to pinpoint whom she was referring to.

"But then I will contact him later, we are making armor you see. I have this compound that make glass all but indestructible, but he have this idea for how to apply that to clothing and if we can pull that off, it will be awesome...or...it will blow up...well it will most likely blow up, but it could work."

"Is that so? I was myself wondering if there was a way to enhance plate inserts for body armor, so that they would be able to withstand stronger effects. Though I myselfa m not talented in ars materia so it was speculation. But making clothing that is stronger is an even better idea, if ah...dangerous. And as you said, possibly explosive." He shook his head a bit at that, she seemed used to her experiments blowing up. "Perhaps we should speak sometime soon, of course when Bruce is available I would talk about this with him as well. Perhaps if you both consider commissions we could speak about it later. Would you mind if we exchanged contact numbers?"

Nico said in an exiting tone of voice, gesticulating with her lunch as she did so. "I just need to get the compound to last more than a few hours first...well do tell him hello from me."

"I will, thank you for showing me the way, Nico," he said. Then he turned and knocked on Laisa's door, expecting her to be in a irate mood.

//I ssume that he doesn't know what a rebis is, probably! If that's not the case I'll tweak my answer though.

"You may call me Adley, if it is easier to remember. You are of House Verditius?"

"Adley? Nice name. Yes I am of House Verditius."
Nico said happily as she begun to lead the way though the confusing hallways of the Chantry.

You recognize some of the ways to navigate this maze since you where here yesterday, how color and decorations made a path, it is not easy for the clues are quite subtle but you think you might be able to find you way back to the entrance hall alone if you had to.

"Yes, I do know of the university," he agreed. "He has class later tonight?" If Hank was going to the same class he had been the other evening, or one at the same time, then it was possible Lenoe was indeed his professor.

"Hank said he where going tonight yes."
Nico said then she cocked her head to the side and looked at Adley.
"Perhaps it will be good for him to get out and meet others, I mean he do not speak much but then, I guess neither would I if I had been the slave of the Technocracy,"
The artificer sigh.
"Well I hope he will make friends, he deserve some."

"Do not trouble yourself, I am not offended."

"Good to hear."
Nico said and grinned.

Adley raised an eyebrow at Nico. "I'm sorry but I'm not familiar with the term..." He looked at her, taking a minute to pinpoint whom she was referring to.

"Ah sorry...I was born on Horizon so I am used to it being rather familiar to people, but I guess not many like me are born on Earth at least not anymore. Well ehm...you could say I was born with some assembly required."
The Verditius said with a little grin.
"I was born as two people, a boy and a girl, and then one day we met and merged together sort of...it is hard to explain really. I am an alchemical amalgam of male and female, but I was born this way, it was not artificially done like with a certain Solificati."
Nico explained and glanced at the other mage as if she was expecting disgust from him.
"So yeah I am the same kind of being as Heylel Teomim, I however was not born with the otherworldly beauty gene that many seam to associate with rebis nor was I born with the betray one's Cabal to the bloody Technocracy gene."
Nico quickly added.

"Is that so? I was myself wondering if there was a way to enhance plate inserts for body armor, so that they would be able to withstand stronger effects. Though I myselfa m not talented in ars materia so it was speculation.

"Yeah sure one can do that, both if you mean stronger effects as in stronger force applied to better make the armor able to withstand physical effects and to make something resist magick better, yes...that can be done."
Nico agreed and bobbed her head.

"The clothing part was his idea, Bruce I mean, to make something that look like normal clothing but which will stop a bullet, we can probably do that...eventually, enchanting armor however I can do. I do work on commission sometimes, I have to to afford my research."
Nico said then she nodded and looked for some where to put her lunch, finding a fine little decorative table she plopped the glass of milk and sandwich down and then pulled a small note book up from one of her many pockets, she scribbled down a telephone number and handed it to Adley.
"Here is my number but we do not have phone coverage in here and I seldom leave the Chantry so the easiest way to get a hold of me is to come to my workshop."
The artificer said before she picked up her glass of milk and lunch again.
"Can you find your own way back or do you want me to wait for you?"
The Verditius asked when the two of you have climbed quite a few steep sets of stairs and now stood by a single door in what had to be one of the castle's spires, the walls where mostly bare tone here, though there where a decorative green carpet on the floor.

"I will, thank you for showing me the way, Nico," he said. Then he turned and knocked on Laisa's door, expecting her to be in a irate mood.

Laisa open her door, the Mercere looked a bit tired and there where anger in her dark eyes, though that anger softened when she saw that it was not one of the objects of her ire that waited outside her door.
"Ah Mr Roth Hicks...please do come in what can I do for you."
The Mercere said but anger where obviously boiling right under the surface.
"Nico? Is there anything I can do for you as well?"
Laisa asked but the Verditus shook her head.
"I am just here to how our guest the way."
She said and the Mercere nodded and turned her attention back to you.
"I have a guest that needs her rest, if you would please speak softly."
Laisa said as she show you into a round chamber that served as her office, there where a simple wood desk here and a few chairs, old rickety bookshelves held binders, volumes and scrolls of an impressive quality. Behind the desk hung a painting of Mercere the Founder though other than that there where not allot of luxury here. There where a thick, red carpet on the floor. In one of the deep, old leather armchairs you see Gwn sit, her head was lolled to the side and the young mage where in deep sleep, the girl looked as if she had been to war, one eye was so swollen you doubt she would be able to open it and her face and arms here covered in deep blue and black bruises, her lip was split and there where a weak rasping sound every time she drew breath. Laisa went over to the girl and adjusted the blanket she was covered with before she sat down behind her desk and indicated a chair for you.
"So what can I do for you Mr Roth Hicks?"
The Mercere said in a soft tone of voice not to disturb the wounded mage sleeping nearby.
