Both of them give the distinct smell that they think everyone has a touchscreen.
The tiles are liveable. The charm bar [didn't know it was called that] is much more annoying. It keeps on coming up every time I try to close a programme, or even worse pop up during a game. Plus, I *like* to have my taskbar at the top and the desktop icons down the right-hand side.
To their credit, MS noticed the welter of complaints and allowed the Charm to be disabled by default in 8.1. I believe it can be done in 8, but requires 3rd-party hacks which I've not had time to get yet.
