As you stand there keeping watch you see the man you had heard referred to as Arn come around the corner escorting the large Etherite you had seen waiting by Jeffry's office, your fellow scientist really looking like Santa Claus's drunkard brother. Arn gave you a sort nod.
"Miss Bounchard? Our guest here was looking to talk to you and I was told I could find you here."
The large Etherite gave you a bow that had surprising flourish for his size.
"Rodger Tasselwell at your service Madam I was wondering if you had a moment."
He said with a friendly smile.

Horizon, Future:
"There are more than one way to kill an Avatar? That...is terrifying!"
The prisoner exclaimed her eyes wide.
"How...did this friend of yours loose his?"
She asked she had begun to tremble.
"Is it true that those who have Faunts never hear their soul speak to them? Damn that must be so strange."
Colin nodded with a grim expression, "Vampire blood is a slow-acting poison, a magical narcotic of the nastiest, deadliest sort. And then there's a kind of beast on a nearby island... those beasts eat Avatars and excrete Tass. An absolute horror. And my friend lost his by being... bitten by a vampire. It took a miracle to bring him back to true life... but by then, his Fount was already severed."

"Shit, I can understand their way of thinking but even so shit. What would have happened if Temomim had not betrayed his Cabal though?"
Sierra asked her eyes wide again.
He frowned, "Well, there's a prophecy that says Teomim would inevitably have betrayed the Traditions to the Order of Reason at some point... and the longer the delay, the more powerful they would have been, and the more terrible the consequences. I've read the prophecy, and I suspect that what would have happened was a preposterously bad case of a Mage with two powerful Avatars going into a deep, long-lasting Quiet. Mages were never meant to have more than one Avatar, and Teomim was... an imperfect blend of two Mages. Had they lived long enough, they would have become a being called Moloch."

"I guess that is good Sir but that do not mean torture do not have it's place as well, but I am glad when it do not have to be used for it is a gruesome thing...I have taken part in torture and seen others do it...I sometimes wonder what being tortured is like though..."
Victor mushed thoughtfully.
He grunted softly, "It's painful. Preposterously so. And often undignified, as well."

Steelhaven Hall, Now:
"I am aware it is lichdom and not vampirism Mr Wainwright or you would be experiencing quite a different degree of ire, however I am still concerned, a full lich can not Ascend their Avatar and flesh having become one and I do not want that for my student, I want him to be able to one day reach enlightenment, but I guess a few undead cells is not to much of a trouble...that serum will hae to be restricted in use even further though."
Jeffry said and frowned.
He nodded, frowning, "There's one thing we think we have worked out - the Union puts captive Mages on the serum for a few weeks before the Computer extracts their Avatar. With this dark parody of lichdom, I would hypothesize the Computer is able to hold those Avatars within itself, intact and potent, without the link to the physical world being damaged. I don't believe one to three days on the serum will affect enough nerve tissue to make the gland in question sufficiently undead, but I would not advocate its use beyond the first 24 hours after capturing an enemy. And even then only if enchanted restraints were unavailable or unusable."

"So the pressing matter that kept you from contacting me about this matter was that you feared that if time had passed my apprentice would no longer have consented to the experiment?"
The old war mage said and frowned.
"Now while when I was young a fifteen year old boy would have been considered a young man, in this day and age he is a child, and I believe that under sleeper law a minor should have a guardian present to give consent to medical procedures, and within our own society he is an apprentice, he is my responsibility, my property my charge and I should have been advised about this experiment so that I could help guide him, he is not yet a fully fledged magus capable of making his own decisions."
He said sternly.
He frowned, "That's not entirely inaccurate, but an oversimplification. Kyle has... good reason to be wary of medical work, to put it like that. A while back, his parents... restrained him on the kitchen table, and dug an eye out of his leg with a heated, sharpened spoon. A fully functional eye. He was anesthetized, so he did not feel much pain... but he saw everything until the eyeball was severed from his flesh. He has essentially never had any agency when it comes to what has been done to him, medically... and I promised him he would have that today. Calling you would have compromised that promise to some extent, given him reason to suspect I might be going back on my word... and I owe him that much trust. Ethically, the matter was a grey area, but I think that as far as Kyle's trust and confidence is concerned, I made the right call. As his Mentor, of course, you are entitled to disagree, but I would ask that you confer with Kyle on that before you decide what your reaction against me will be."

"Mr Horton was the veterinarian right who ran that no questions clinic in Chicago, yes asking his help will be a good idea. Also off course we will have to set up some dummy address so the paper trail will not lead back here, but most of what we need I can get over the counter or second hand with few questions asked."
Richard said and nodded.
He nodded, "We have twelve percent of a plan, then. Better than eleven percent."

Jeffry looked at you for a moment then he sigh.
"Mr Wainwright I am not to pleased about someone finding ways to twist my orders into doing whatever they please, now I am not an Oracle sometimes my orders are wrong given the situation that arise, I would prefer then if you contact me and ask about the situation but if that is not possible follow your own judgment and take responsibility for it and explain to me why not obeying and order was needed later but do not twist my words. Or to say it this way, if I tell you to sit in a chair, and keep your behind in that chair however the building start burning I would not want you to obey my order to your death over a complication I would not have known, nor would i want you to bring the chair with you as you leave the building so your behind never left said chair. There was a reason why I ordered Kyle restrained, however I did not know about his fears, had I known I would have used other methods to make sure he could not run away. I do not fault your decision that handcuffing my apprentice would cause him more fear and distress than what the added security measure was worth, letting him have his hands free was the right choice I do fault you however for trying to find a way to play with my words to technically obey the order, while clearly not following it."
The old Flambeau said as he regarded you sternly.
He nodded, "You are right, Sir. It won't happen again."

"I have met Mr Reynolds Mentor, a quite fine Quesitor though perhaps a bit to much of a Traditionalist."
Jeffry said.
"I will keep these names in mind...Mr Nilda though...do you think he have made such threats to other prisoners? For if he have he is in violation of Tradition law and we might be able to get him removed."
The old Flambeau said clearly angry over what the Enforcer had been doing in your vision.
He nodded, "In that timeline, Mr. Nilda struck Anna merely for speaking. He is a sadist, and while I have no evidence of it, I would not be even remotely surprised to learn that he is compromised, as well. And from the enthusiastic way he addressed Miss Bluehill, I would wager a year's production of silverware that he has made such threats with a frightening regularity. Whether or not he actually followed through... I would not bet on that, because I would absolutely hate to win that bet. I... hum... did threaten him, contingent on his implication in illegally handing Anna over to the Italian, that I would get a telepath to help me embed a perpetual memory loop in his mind of a Mage suffering Gilgul. His response suggested a guilty conscience..."

"Well you do seam to have gotten a tendency to pick up strays anyway."
Jeffry said and he sounded a bit amused.
He smiled wryly, "I must have got that from my lawyer..."

The old Hermetic gave you an exasperated look.
"She do indeed and I have not been able to talk the good woman into letting go of her new...pets, she claims they will leave soon but that they have some purpose they have not yet fulfilled."
He commented.
"That might work indeed to test the link...I guess all we need now is to actually get the girl."
He arched an eyebrow, "Well, then, that might indeed be the very purpose the Deaconess referred to."

Despite himself, he laughed. "Sure, that sounds very relaxing..."
He smiled thinly at Adley finally laughing, "Compared to this week, it does..."

((OOC: Well, in all honesty, the Flambeau will be Flambeau - and they're not entirely wrong about the direct application of energy. Razz ))

Colin Horizon Near Future:

Colin nodded with a grim expression, "Vampire blood is a slow-acting poison, a magical narcotic of the nastiest, deadliest sort. And then there's a kind of beast on a nearby island... those beasts eat Avatars and excrete Tass. An absolute horror. And my friend lost his by being... bitten by a vampire. It took a miracle to bring him back to true life... but by then, his Fount was already severed."

"Well shit..."
Sierra muttered she had grown if possible even paler.
"So your friend was turned into a vampire and then revived but the damage was already done? That really suck, if my Avatar survives the next hour remind me to stay far away from vampires."
She said and frowned.
"Also one question Mr Wainwright these Avatar eating monstrosities you speak of, why have not the Traditions wiped them out why have them on Horizon of all places?"

"I do wonder what it would be like to have two Avatars, I imagine it would be very confusing, though I guess in some cases having a spare would be useful eh..."
Sierra said then she sigh.
"I gues Teomim was screwed from the get go then, but Moloch as in from the bible Moloch?"
She asked and raised an eyebrow.

He grunted softly, "It's painful. Preposterously so. And often undignified, as well."

Victor sigh and nodded he looked away and said nothing more about it.

Steelhaven Now:

"Do you have any proof of this claim Mr Wainwright we have those among us who have been on the serum for a while are you saying they might not be able to Ascend? And what do the computer want with these intact Avatars that it steals?"
Jeffry said and frowned.
"We might have to continue using the serum though we do not have enough magickal restraints for all our prisoners though hopefully we can send them to Horizon soon or to other Chantries and eliminate the problem."

Ethically, the matter was a grey area, but I think that as far as Kyle's trust and confidence is concerned, I made the right call. As his Mentor, of course, you are entitled to disagree, but I would ask that you confer with Kyle on that before you decide what your reaction against me will be."

"I see that would have been a quite traumatic experience for him, he had one of the mutations the Fallen often gets then poor kid."
The Security Chief said and frowned.
"Many parents use far to much force when it comes to the health of their children. I can see the reason why you did what you did and Kyle do not know me yet but in a case such as this I would not have used force to get him to take part in the experiment though I might have denied him to do so, the only thing I would have ordered where blood for an arcane connection and if he really protested that some alternative solution would have had to be found, only if he was dying right at that moment and where refusing treatment would I use force. I am not pleased with your actions Mr Wainwright but I understand them. As I said though I have already decided on the punitive actions against you and Dr Lee, for one you will make sure the boy are not nervous to go back to the hospital if he needs it and if he is it will be the job of you two to calm him and rectify that situation, secondly you will be given the task of overseeing the construction of an infirmary in the attic is this and acceptable punishment for you? If not you are welcome to take the matter before the Deacon Council off course."
Richard nodded.
"I accept that punishment Sir it seams fair."
Your Cabalmate said then he looked at you to see what you had to say about it.

He nodded, "We have twelve percent of a plan, then. Better than eleven percent."

"Indeed we do."
Richard said.

He nodded, "You are right, Sir. It won't happen again."

"Good see to it that it don't Mr Wainwright."
Jeffry said sternly.

"Hum...such threats and especially against prisoners are illegal, the Cult of Ecstasy demanded sexual misconduct and harassment be added to the Traditions' rooster of laws, I can discreetly see what I can find out if he have made such threats or followed up on them I will be happy to report him and see him dragged before a Tribunal for his crimes."
Jeffry said darkly.

I... hum... did threaten him, contingent on his implication in illegally handing Anna over to the Italian, that I would get a telepath to help me embed a perpetual memory loop in his mind of a Mage suffering Gilgul. His response suggested a guilty conscience..."

Jeffry looked amused at that.
"Good, not a legal thing to do but still...good."

He smiled wryly, "I must have got that from my lawyer..."

The old Hermetic looked rather confused.
"I am not sure I understand Mr Wainwright."

He arched an eyebrow, "Well, then, that might indeed be the very purpose the Deaconess referred to."

"It might be indeed, let us hope so Mr Wainwright so we can be rid of the creatures after said purpose is fulfilled."
The Security Chief commented.

(OOC: All problems diminish when you put them on fire. Razz )
(OOC 2: Actually Kyle said that all his parents had during his make shift operation was over the counter painkillers as in headache pills.)

Nicole:

Nicole looked to Tasselwell with curiosity. 'Of course, sir... does it need to be in private? Just that I'm at the moment watching out for escape attempts during feeding-time.' taking a little look back to the makeshift cells.

Rodger looked at Sierra who was bound to the radiator and then at the other make shift cells.
"Prisoner, well damn are thee guys Fallen Ma'am? Well in either case no the matter I have on my mind is not private. I have been hired for a piloting mission in the Umbra and I heard you and I are of the same Tradition and that you had just gotten the job of tending to Master Morgan's ship I was wondering if you would lie to help me out getting her ready for the mission, dust the cobwebs of as it where."
The man said and he gave you a friendly smile.
"They expect the ships to run and take them places but fail to realize that there is allot of little parts that needs to work for that to happen and getting the ship ready might be a two man job depending on her current condition, once you are done with your guard duty off course ma'am."

'Three Fallen, two Mad... I think.' Nicole replied, giving the older Scientist a nod. 'Yeah, got pretty much sold on that idea... I'll be happy to help whip off the old tarpaulin. But will warn now; I only did basic training, didn't even go to the [Ethernaught] Academy.'

"That is good then that we did not loose anyone."
Ulv said then he nodded.
"I have heard about them from one of the associates of the woman I...worked with, but these are things I will only discuss with my lawyer."
He said firmly.

"Yeah that makes sense. You don't have to answer if you don't want to." Serge said with shrug, not wanting to dig any further. Besides, he had a feeling he already knew who those associates were...

Ulv looked at the drawing and got a bit wet around the eyes.
"My little girl, safe, I would give anything for her safety and happiness."
He whispered.
"And yes she is such a sweet, polite child, and so talented, she is going to become a Hermetic you know, of House Janissary."
He said proudly but there was also a bit of concern there as if the girl's future House worried him.
"She have grown up in Norway and then been taken apprentice by a Turkish Hermetic so she have not been exposed to English allot."

"She was drawing a rose when I saw her. And she seemed to be good friends with Jane. Which is good since Jane knows how to speak latin." Serge said with a chuckle.

"Don't worry. She seems to be safe and happy." Serge said trying to reassure Ulv of his daughters safety and happiness.

"And she mentioned that house when she introduced herself to me. Man the Hermetics have so many houses its hard to keep track of which one is which. House Janissary.....which ones were they again?" Serge mused humorously.

He was feigning ignorance, he had a slight idea of what the House Janissary was but wanted to see Mr. Bergen's opinion about them seeing as how he seemed concerned about his daughter's future House.

"Why do I not say it in Norwegian as my Latin is rather sketchy and do not extend far beyond asking where I can find a good orgy."
Ulv said and grinned.

"Of course you know how to say that...." Serge said completely unsurprised. After all, even with all of his innocence, Serge was still a part of the Cult of Ecstasy and he knew about the rather.....interesting antics of its members

"Tell Liv this...Kjære lille venn, jeg er glad du er trygg og jeg beklager alt som har skjedd. Jeg er i orden for nå, ikke bekymre deg for meg, pass på deg selv og hør på Mester Boz, vi kommer til å få se hverandre snart, jeg er så glad i deg barn."
Once he was done dictating what to say to Liv Ulv smiled a little.
"Thank you Mr Yager I owe you one."

"That sounds beautiful....if only I knew what it meant." Serge said with a smile as he wrote down what Mr. Bergen said.

"And you talk as if we're done here. You obviously love your daughter a lot. Would you like a picture of her? I'm pretty sure I can draw her. I've seen what she looks like and you can tell me if I make any mistakes with the drawing. It can be a nice thing to look at while your here." Serge suggested.

Richard nodded and stood. "By your leave then Master Morgan."
He asked and your Mentor nodded. Richard nodded to you and Colin.
"I will be right back gentlemen."

"You probably will need your things for the prisoner anyway."

After a fee minutes of your conversation with the Chief and Colin he knocked on the door again and after he was let back in he handed you a steel thermos and a few packs of alcohol wipes.

"Yes, that should do it," he said, taking them with a nod of thanks. He frowned a little at the thermos and looked it over, remembering certain other thermoses of late and then went to prepare the first cup of the tea before it oversteeped and drink it.

Jeffry nodded at that then he gave a small smile.
"And while we are talking about lessons I will find the team to teach you more about how to interact with the Umbra as well."
He said and smiled a little knowing well what you preferences where.

He smiled back. Even though it might seem ridiculous, it was nice to hear his pater speak of the future, even though they were busy securing it. "Thank you, I would like that."

"Agreed I will contact Lux Itineris as soon as we are done here and I have checked on Kyle."
Jeffry said and sigh, the to do list was ever growing.
"If the girl is still in first or second degrees and have not been assigned to a teacher yet then buying her as a student for one of our own should not be suspicious."

"But then what do we do? I mean...do they even know...?"

"That...is highly disturbing."

"We might have to continue using the serum though we do not have enough magickal restraints for all our prisoners though hopefully we can send them to Horizon soon or to other Chantries and eliminate the problem."

"Or create new ones, considering what we've heard...did you make that phone call, sir?"

As his Mentor, of course, you are entitled to disagree, but I would ask that you confer with Kyle on that before you decide what your reaction against me will be."

"Paradox, I assume..." he said with a wince.

He nodded, "In that timeline, Mr. Nilda struck Anna merely for speaking. He is a sadist, and while I have no evidence of it, I would not be even remotely surprised to learn that he is compromised, as well. "Amicus!" he looked at him with a bit of a shocked expression at the latter bit, future-magick or not, that was bold to say the least. "Perhaps you'd better put up that ars fati spell you know if you want to talk about that...."

He smiled thinly at Adley finally laughing, "Compared to this week, it does..."

"We could put together quite the double act, I'm sure..." He shook his head.

Nicole:

'Three Fallen, two Mad... I think.' Nicole replied, giving the older Scientist a nod. 'Yeah, got pretty much sold on that idea... I'll be happy to help whip off the old tarpaulin. But will warn now; I only did basic training, didn't even go to the [Ethernaught] Academy.'

"Yeah I did not go to the academy myself, my Mentor taught me how to pilot an ethership before he drank himself to death, poor asshole."
Rodger said and he looked down for a moment out of respect for his dead Mentor.
"Anyway thank you ma'am I will wait until your duties here are done then."

'People always expect things to run perfect when they don't understand anything about it, in my experience.' Nicole said with a little grin. 'I think there's another one of us kicking around... spoke to him earlier.'

"Yeah, Mr Miles I think his name was, I ran into him in the hallway he said he did not have any knowledge of Etherships, anyway Chief Morgan recommended you for the job, there is a another one as well a hedge wizard chemist if I do not remember it wrong. But yeah the others expect everything to work and not a word of thanks when it do but when something do not work then you can be sure they know how to complain."
The older Etherite commented wryly.

Serge:

"Yeah that makes sense. You don't have to answer if you don't want to." Serge said with shrug, not wanting to dig any further. Besides, he had a feeling he already knew who those associates were...

Ulv just nodded at that.
"Yeah thanks kid."

"That is good...that is good."
Ulv said and he seamed to relax a bit more.
"I could not tell you how relieved I am that she is safe."
He added then he smiled.
"Hum...well Liv have always loved to draw, she can be quite artistic."
He said proudly.

"Ah yes don't I know it, but really the Order of Hermes are in many ways like the Traditions in a mini version, their history mirror our own with a call towards various magickal groups to start a Order to keep magick alive. As for the Janissary they work for the Hermetic Enforcers keeping law and order in their ranks."
Ulv explained then he frowned again.

"Of course you know how to say that...." Serge said completely unsurprised. After all, even with all of his innocence, Serge was still a part of the Cult of Ecstasy and he knew about the rather.....interesting antics of its members

"Well you can never go to to many orgies."
Ulv said and grinned.

"That sounds beautiful....if only I knew what it meant." Serge said with a smile as he wrote down what Mr. Bergen said.

"Thank you, I only told her not to worry about me, to be obedient to her Mentor and that I love her."
Ulv explained and he smiled a little.

Ulv looked at you for a moment he seamed touched by what you where offering and he nodded slowly.
"I...would like that very much Mr Yager...thank you."
He said and smiled a little.
"I really appreciate it."

Adley:

"You probably will need your things for the prisoner anyway."

"I will at that and Master Morgan have asked me to check on one of the Marauders as well, she was abused during her captivity at Nephandi hands."
Richard confirmed and Jeffry nodded.
"Ah yes and I would like you to see how Miss Clearwater is healing as well Dr Lee."
Richard nodded at that.
"Off course Master Morgan."

"Yes, that should do it," he said, taking them with a nod of thanks. He frowned a little at the thermos and looked it over, remembering certain other thermoses of late and then went to prepare the first cup of the tea before it oversteeped and drink it.

The thermos was perfectly normal. Once you had finished the tea and drank it, the taste was...memorable...you did quickly start feeling better the pain faded away and you only felt slightly tired.

He smiled back. Even though it might seem ridiculous, it was nice to hear his pater speak of the future, even though they were busy securing it. "Thank you, I would like that."
He smiled back. Even though it might seem ridiculous, it was nice to hear his pater speak of the future, even though they were busy securing it. "Thank you, I would like that."

Your Mentor gave you a fond smile an nodded.

"But then what do we do? I mean...do they even know...?"

"Let us hope not for if they know then Larson's agents know as well you can be sure of that. Well I plan on placing the girl with a Mentor, testing to see if she is such an arcane connection and then take a bit of her blood or a lock of her hair and use this to get a tactical advantage on Jace, preferably taking him out before we storm the Labyrinth."
Jeffry said.

"Or create new ones, considering what we've heard...did you make that phone call, sir?"

"I contacted our allied Chantries about the prisoners yes, if that was what you meant if it was the phone call to Morningstar you where thinking of then also yes but that we can discuss in private later."
Your Mentor commented.

"Paradox, I assume..." he said with a wince.

"Paradox is known to be cruel to the Fallen."
Jeffry said and frowned.
"That is normally something I take comfort in but when the victim is your brother then it is less reassuring. You have been in a Cabal with Miss Alexander for a while gentlemen, how have she been handling Paradox while you have known her?"
The old Hermetic said as he regarded the three younger magi in his office.

"That is good...that is good."
Ulv said and he seamed to relax a bit more.
"I could not tell you how relieved I am that she is safe."
He added then he smiled.
"Hum...well Liv have always loved to draw, she can be quite artistic."
He said proudly.

"Bet I could beat her in a art contest." Serge said jokingly.

"Huh, the enforcers of law and order?" Serge said beginning to understand Mr. Bergen's displeasure. His little girl was essentially going to be trained as a police officer.

"She didn't seem like the enforcer type." Serge commented wondering how such a young girl wound up in a house like that.

"Well you can never go to to many orgies."
Ulv said and grinned.

"That's strangely not the weirdest thing someone has said to me today." Serge said with a grin remembering Siege's tales of the flesh walls in the Labyrinth.

Ulv looked at you for a moment he seamed touched by what you where offering and he nodded slowly.
"I...would like that very much Mr Yager...thank you."
He said and smiled a little.
"I really appreciate it."

"No problem. I never liked seeing people so down and besides a father should always have a way to connect with his children." Serge said with a smile as he began to draw.

"Let's see....Liv, Liv, Liv......I know she had hair." the young cultist joked as his pencil moved gracefully across the page.

As he drew he cleared his mind and concentrated, getting to that state of bliss that he felt whenever he drew, where he was in control. He retreated into his mind and brought up a mental picture of the young girl he had talked to during his brief meeting with her in the cafeteria, letting his mind guide his hand and using it as a reference as he brought the image from his head into real life.

(OOC: So this might not be necessary but Serge is trying to draw someone he only met once briefly directly from memory. He might needs some magick to help out with that Razz. Mind 2 + Correspondence 2 effect to bring up a mental image of Liv Bergen and to help him make a copy of her based on mental image.

Arete Roll: 9, 9, 4)

(OOC2: And the Dex+Drawing roll to actually draw it. Dice Roll: 7, 7, 2, 5, 3, 8 )

"I will at that and Master Morgan have asked me to check on one of the Marauders as well, she was abused during her captivity at Nephandi hands."

"Ah yes and I would like you to see how Miss Clearwater is healing as well Dr Lee."

"Off course Master Morgan.

"We are going to need some help once we are back on our feet..." he sighed.

The thermos was perfectly normal. Once you had finished the tea and drank it, the taste was...memorable...you did quickly start feeling better the pain faded away and you only felt slightly tired.

Paranoid as he was, and out of sight of Master Nassa he thought perhaps checking the whole shebang out before imbibing it would be prudent. It would be hard to explain to the man not to be offended, that he knew someone had their potions dosed to ill effect, and no, he was absolutely not counting him as anyone that would do that. But paranoia had somewhat helped him last this long and he had more concern over the well being of his avatar that even the wrath of a Diedne. Casting magick wasn't easy right now, hopefully would be a bit easier after he took it, but it would prevent him from worrying over nothing. And it was true, though he was not squeamish of the blood, per se, as his own at any rate, he was a bit leery of anything that happened out of his own sight, just now. He muttered a few words to himself, moving his hands over it in two gestures, to see if there was anything out of the ordinary about the brew that he could find, still hopeful enough that he would likely find nothing amiss.

He raised an eyebrow at that, wondering just who would be shouldered with such a thing - they would have to know the potential situation and so it would be tricky.

"I contacted our allied Chantries about the prisoners yes, if that was what you meant if it was the phone call to Morningstar you where thinking of then also yes but that we can discuss in private later."

Post by Warpmind Wed Nov 29, 2017 1:02 am

Horizon, Near Future:
"Well shit..."
Sierra muttered she had grown if possible even paler.
"So your friend was turned into a vampire and then revived but the damage was already done? That really suck, if my Avatar survives the next hour remind me to stay far away from vampires."
She said and frowned.
"Also one question Mr Wainwright these Avatar eating monstrosities you speak of, why have not the Traditions wiped them out why have them on Horizon of all places?"
Colin frowned, "Vampires can be tolerable to associate with, actually - so long as you're wary of the blood issues. Of course, the Order of Hermes has a bit stronger issues with vampires than most, owing to some... literally bad blood."
He grimaced, "And bugger if I know why the Avatar Eaters are still around, though genocide is usually a bad idea to begin with - might cause far greater damage to the local ecosystem, and who knows what sort of useful flora or fauna can be found there? Still, it's not a good place to go hiking alone... but the creatures are basically just animals."

He frowned, "Teomim - or the two Magi that became Teomim - tried to create a perfect artificial Rebis, an alchemical hermaphrodite. A perfect blend in mind, body and soul. As the story goes, they managed one out of three - two minds, two souls, one body; a perfect recipe for eventual insanity... as for the name Moloch, who knows? Perhaps the name was chosen for the Biblical association, or perhaps the name was chosen, and the misdeeds echoed backwards in time to Biblical times... I don't think we'll ever truly know. Nor do I think it would be healthy to inquire too deeply..."

Steelhaven, Now:
"That...is highly disturbing."
He frowned, "It gets better..."

He frowned, "I saw the proof of it in a vision of five years from now... but I spoke with Miss Adelbloom in the distant future, just before she headed out to become a Postulant. I don't know if long-term exposure to the serum will make Ascension impossible... but I'm quite certain short-term exposure will not be sufficient to prevent it..."
He pondered, "Strike that, actually, I am fairly certain even long-term exposure to the serum will not be enough, provided the Primium is removed. The Primium particles clump around the particular gland in the brain, but unlike the Lichdom potion, the serum does not replicate itself in the bloodstream. I think... I am fairly certain that without being encapsulated in Primium, the Avatar will be able to act normally."
He grimaced, "As for what the Computer does with the Avatars it steals like that... I'd say it looks like the Computer is one of the future Molochs that Salonikas warned us about. I have... very good reasons for that suspicion, but I need to confirm a few premises first."

He nodded, "I see no reason to appeal to the Deacon Council. Besides, we will need the infirmary operational before New Year's..."

Adley shrugged. "Apparently not enough to notice there was something essentially different."
He frowned, "I don't think I've seen her suffer that sort of indignity at all, actually... I would hazard Master Nassa has instructed her very well to be careful with anything that might provoke the Scourge - both to avoid the direct problems with it, and to avoid needless discovery..."

He nodded, "Good... but like with Dr. Weris, wait until the trap snaps shut? Enough rope to hang themselves with, you know?"

Jeffry looked amused at that.
"Good, not a legal thing to do but still...good."
He arched an eyebrow, "Oh, I'm sure we could argue that such punishment would be appropriate sentencing, after all his crimes are tallied..."

"Amicus!" he looked at him with a bit of a shocked expression at the latter bit, future-magick or not, that was bold to say the least. "Perhaps you'd better put up that ars fati spell you know if you want to talk about that...."
He turned to Adley, eyes flickering briefly toward Richard, then he shrugged, "Over the next couple of months, I fear there will be an unpalatable number of... sentences executed on Horizon. Some of those will elect to live. Of those, I am sure there will be no end to volunteers to have their memory of the ordeal taken out of their mind and placed... elsewhere. Especially if that elsewhere is a particularly sadistic jailer..."

The old Hermetic looked rather confused.
"I am not sure I understand Mr Wainwright."
He smiled wryly, "I seem to have acquired the services of Master Adimari as my family lawyer... She has a bit of a track record for advocating for the friendless and the hopeless. We found something of a connection."

"It might be indeed, let us hope so Mr Wainwright so we can be rid of the creatures after said purpose is fulfilled."
The Security Chief commented.
He nodded, "They might be cute, but they also remain disturbing..."

"We could put together quite the double act, I'm sure..." He shook his head.
He grinned, "With a voice like yours, you would make a magnificent Ringmaster."

Serge:

"Bet I could beat her in a art contest." Serge said jokingly.

"Yes well you probably could kid, then again Liv is a ten year old."
Ulv said and he raised an eyebrow at you.

"Huh, the enforcers of law and order?" Serge said beginning to understand Mr. Bergen's displeasure. His little girl was essentially going to be trained as a police officer.

"Yes well House Guernicus are the judges, but they need soldiers able to enforce the laws and there is where House Janissary comes into the picture."
The Cultist said and frowned.

"She didn't seem like the enforcer type." Serge commented wondering how such a young girl wound up in a house like that.

"Well she is a ten year old apprentice Mr Yager she is not going to be doing allot of enforcing yet."
Ulv said and he raised an eyebrow at you again.

"That's strangely not the weirdest thing someone has said to me today." Serge said with a grin remembering Siege's tales of the flesh walls in the Labyrinth.

"There is nothing strange about orgies kid, only allot of people having sex at the same time, either you like them or you don't, some binge watch shows on netflix others go to orgies."
The prisoner said and grinned.

"No problem. I never liked seeing people so down and besides a father should always have a way to connect with his children." Serge said with a smile as he began to draw.

Ulv nodded at that then he smiled.
"I agree that a father should always have a way to connect with his children. I am grateful to you though."

You brought up a perfectly recalled image of Liv Bergen in your mind down to the smallest details you had not even noticed when you spoke with her, she had tiny flower studs in her ears, her dress had plaits, there was a small bruise on her left knee, you could see every single detail it was even better than having her before you to model as you draw. The picture itself ended up very good, a near perfect likeness of the little girl.

Nicole:

'He might know nothing about Etherships, but at least will be able to get to grips with how it works.' Nicole replied with a wry look, clearly thinking "he won't think it needs an animal sacrifice, prayer or eye of newt to work".

"Very true that Ma'am, at least Mr Miles will know to some degree how the ship works and that keeping it in working order taes some effort."
Rodger said and scratched his scruffy hair.

That and if Morgan wants to keep the damn thing, we'll need to develop maintenance skills in-house, right? Well, unless he's happy for it to simply to sit around and slowly rust.'

"True again Ma'am I can ask Mr Miles to accompany us. I personally is not from this Chantry I was just hired in to fly the ship but some skills at Steelhaven should be developed if Master Morgan is going to get any use out of the thing."
He said and nodded in agreement.

Steelhaven Now Colin and Adley:

"We are going to need some help once we are back on our feet..." he sighed.

Agreed but it is not like we are keeping all of these prisoners once this crisis is over we do not need a pet Marauder."
Richard said and he frowned.

The herbs in the tea was enchanted, you did not understand completely what they did but it had to do with Corpus and Vim, the closest you could understand it the herbs sort of tricked your system into thinking it had more Quintessence in it than it did, sort of like pulling your belt tight to stave of the feeling of hunger even if you had not actually eaten anything. There did not seam to be any effect other than what Master Nassa said there would be.

He raised an eyebrow at that, wondering just who would be shouldered with such a thing - they would have to know the potential situation and so it would be tricky.

"We may not keep the girl if the one I have in mind do not wish her an an apprentice, there is more than enough Hermetic wanting a student that finding her a Mentor should not be to hard once Jace is dead or captured, for now getting the girl here safely are the priority."
Jeffry said as he saw the look you gave him.

Adley shrugged. "Apparently not enough to notice there was something essentially different."

Jeffry just nodded at that and he looked thoughtful.

"I see, well that is good to hear Mr Wainwright. A Postulant you say...hum...well good for Miss Adlebloom."
Jeffry said and he nodded.

The old Hermetic nodded.
"We are going to have to bring this to the attention of the Council once the current crisis is dealt with so they can offer warnings and have those who have been on the serum for some time checked out. A lich generally do not have allot of Primium in their bodies though, but a Primium dagger is used as part of their creation ritual."

He grimaced, "As for what the Computer does with the Avatars it steals like that... I'd say it looks like the Computer is one of the future Molochs that Salonikas warned us about. I have... very good reasons for that suspicion, but I need to confirm a few premises first."

Jeffry paled a little at that.
"This is a matter that should be discussed in a very, well warded room..."
Was all he said.

He nodded, "I see no reason to appeal to the Deacon Council. Besides, we will need the infirmary operational before New Year's..."

"Yes you mentioned the future attack, very well then since one of you are appealing the sentence that will be the disciplinary reactions used you two will oversee the construction of our new infirmary and also make sure my apprentice will not fear medical aid if he needs it."
The old Hermetic declared and he made a note of this in his little leather bound book.

He frowned, "I don't think I've seen her suffer that sort of indignity at all, actually... I would hazard Master Nassa has instructed her very well to be careful with anything that might provoke the Scourge - both to avoid the direct problems with it, and to avoid needless discovery..."

Jeffry nodded again and Richard spoke up.
"She got Paradox sick once and I noticed that she got far worse than I would have expected from what was done. There was this time the Union where chasing us in a car and she pulled a root up out of the ground to stop their car, she was quite sick for a week, but I just assumed she must have had some Dox stored up that finally backlashed."
The doctor said and the old Hermetic frowned.

He nodded, "Good... but like with Dr. Weris, wait until the trap snaps shut? Enough rope to hang themselves with, you know?"

"Agreed."
The old war mage said and he nodded.

He arched an eyebrow, "Oh, I'm sure we could argue that such punishment would be appropriate sentencing, after all his crimes are tallied..."

"Well the Cult of Ecstasy at least would agree with you they are quite concerned with the ethics of such matters."
Jeffry said and he grinned a little.

"I fear that is beyond my skills."
Richard said and frowned.
"I know what are called Mind is the specialty of my Tradition but it is never what I choose to focus on."
He muttered and he seamed rather uneasy.
"Horizon will be a dark place after this shit."
Was all he said and he shook his head.
"I do not even like to think about it. I mean they are Nephandi they deserve it but even so...shit."

He smiled wryly, "I seem to have acquired the services of Master Adimari as my family lawyer... She has a bit of a track record for advocating for the friendless and the hopeless. We found something of a connection."

"Ah yes off course, she is most skilled, she proceeded over a dispute I had with a Tytalus over the ownership of a book a few years ago, and she managed to negotiate the matter in a way so that both parties where satisfied."
Jeffry said and nodded.

He nodded, "They might be cute, but they also remain disturbing..."

"I am less concerned with them being disturbing Mr Wainwright and more concerned with them being a security risk."
Jeffry muttered and frowned.

He grinned, "With a voice like yours, you would make a magnificent Ringmaster."

"Try not to get my student to run of to join the circus Mr Wainwright."
The old Hermetic said sounding amused.

Horizon Near Future:

Colin frowned, "Vampires can be tolerable to associate with, actually - so long as you're wary of the blood issues. Of course, the Order of Hermes has a bit stronger issues with vampires than most, owing to some... literally bad blood."

"Yeah I hear they lost a House to vampirism. One of the factions of the Nephandi who left us when we started focusing on well you know unmaking the world where heavily associated with the critters actually and two of my Labyrinth's pawns are vampires but damn I never knew they could harm an Avatar."
Sierra muttered and shook her head.

"Yeah but ok...this whole place is created by magick right? Who decided Avatar eating monstrosities where a good thing, did they have a list, unicorns check, two suns check, Avatar eating monstrosities check...?"
The prisoner asked and she raised an eyebrow.

"I see...Rebis that are those magi born in two parts who when they Awaken become one...shit we tried to convert one of those once...it did not end well..."
Sierra commented and frowned.

as for the name Moloch, who knows? Perhaps the name was chosen for the Biblical association, or perhaps the name was chosen, and the misdeeds echoed backwards in time to Biblical times... I don't think we'll ever truly know. Nor do I think it would be healthy to inquire too deeply..."

"It probably would not and I guess it do not matter much the guy is uber, duber dead right?"
Sierra asked and Mia frowned a little at that she agreed Heylel and herself needed to be punished but she still cared about her old host.

Post by Jeremy Silverstein Wed Nov 29, 2017 5:17 am

"Well she is a ten year old apprentice Mr Yager she is not going to be doing allot of enforcing yet."
Ulv said and he raised an eyebrow at you again.

"Good point." Serge said feeling a little silly for suggesting such a thing.

"There is nothing strange about orgies kid, only allot of people having sex at the same time, either you like them or you don't, some binge watch shows on netflix others go to orgies."
The prisoner said and grinned.

"I am definitely one of those netflix binge watchers." Serge said with a grin.

"Over the summer, my parents left me alone over the weekend so binged watched television shows for three days straight, trying to imagine myself in every scenario that I saw on the screen. That little adventure ended when I passed out from dehydration. That was.....an interesting hospital trip." Serge said reminiscing about a stranger memory from his sleeper days.

Ulv nodded at that then he smiled.
"I agree that a father should always have a way to connect with his children. I am grateful to you though."

"Aaand their we go!" Serge exclaimed as he finished up the final detail on the picture. "Huh....I didn't even notice those flower studs in her ears." Serge said looking at the finer details of the picture. The bruise on Liv's left knee concerned him somewhat but he ignored it for now.

"So what do you think? Looks pretty nice right?" Serge asked holding up the picture for the loving father to look at.

"Good point." Serge said feeling a little silly for suggesting such a thing.

Ulv just smiled a little at that.

"You must learn to take better care of yourself then kid, our Tradition teaches that any kind of pleasure is a good thing, we should enjoy being alive in every way we desire however we should not indulge to the point of harming others, or ourselves. I also have to say that your parents are rather irresponsible leaving you all alone for a whole weekend when you where just a child."
Ulv said and frowned.

"Aaand their we go!" Serge exclaimed as he finished up the final detail on the picture. "Huh....I didn't even notice those flower studs in her ears." Serge said looking at the finer details of the picture. The bruise on Liv's left knee concerned him somewhat but he ignored it for now.

"I gave her those studs for her birthday."
The Hagalaz mage said and nodded.

"So what do you think? Looks pretty nice right?" Serge asked holding up the picture for the loving father to look at.

Ulv smiled fondly as he looked at your drawing, studying it closely.
"That is...impressive Mr Yager, thank you it looks just like Liv down to the smallest details. You are quite talented young man."
He praised and gave you a grateful smile.

Agreed but it is not like we are keeping all of these prisoners once this crisis is over we do not need a pet Marauder." Richard said and he frowned.

"I also meant for us."

He wondered if he should bother to feel slightly bad about doubting the situation (if not the man), and didn't bother. He had no energy for it, and anyway he had learned something about the nature of what he was about to take, which was not a bad idea. The taste of it made him look twice at it, even so. Not that drinking something with his own blood in it was something he expected to taste good. He went on to prepare another dose for later, since he would need one and not be able to brew it in a fight.

"We may not keep the girl if the one I have in mind do not wish her an an apprentice, there is more than enough Hermetic wanting a student that finding her a Mentor should not be to hard once Jace is dead or captured, for now getting the girl here safely are the priority." Jeffry said as he saw the look you gave him.

"But if it is them...?" He looked a little confused.

He frowned, "It gets better..."

"I take it that you're being ironic..."

"This is a matter that should be discussed in a very, well warded room..." Was all he said.

Adley had been exceptionally cranky during that entire conversation with Lady Crexia and the Enforcer; much of what he could remember of it was boiled down to 'hell no.' It seemed though as if it were still an appropriate response, though, even for this hypothesis. He agreed that it was probably not best spoken about unless they had protections up, so he didn't say anything else.

He frowned, "I don't think I've seen her suffer that sort of indignity at all, actually... I would hazard Master Nassa has instructed her very well to be careful with anything that might provoke the Scourge - both to avoid the direct problems with it, and to avoid needless discovery..."

He gave him a little nod, he understood but he was still making a rather trademark scowl.

"Yes, that's how I saw it as well. Backlashes from using obvious magick..."

He grinned, "With a voice like yours, you would make a magnificent Ringmaster."

"I'm going to take that as a compliment, as you surely intended it to be."

"Try not to get my student to run of to join the circus Mr Wainwright." The old Hermetic said sounding amused.

"Have no fear, I have less interest in making others jump through hoops or announcing that we must send in the clowns than I do in my path." Then his demeanor became more serious again. "Well, what's first then?"

"I also meant for us."

"True enough."
Richard said and nodded.

You got another dose of the tea brewed, on the plus side you did feel allot better even if the effect was only temporary.

"But if it is them...?" He looked a little confused.

"If the girl is Wallace Jace's new manifestation you mean? Well we have to examine her Avatar and off course she would have to be watched, but there is something to be said for nurture over nature, chances are that she is a fairly normal young apprentice an her Avatar is likely to be separate from her creator and clean."
Your Mentor said.

"Yes, that's how I saw it as well. Backlashes from using obvious magick..."

"It probably was, though if what we have learned about the Fallen is true then they just get more severe Paradox for less vulgar effects than we do."
Richard commented.

"Have no fear, I have less interest in making others jump through hoops or announcing that we must send in the clowns than I do in my path." Then his demeanor became more serious again. "Well, what's first then?"

Jeffry grinned a little at that.
"I am most pleased that you would not want to abandon your path and hope for Asencion to become a flashy performer."
He said sounding amused, then with a more serious look he said.
"First we should go over the call to Morningstar, then if Mr Wainwright feel that what should be discussed in private need to be discussed right now I will strengthen my wards if not I will contact our allies about the girl we discussed and then go see to Kyle. I will also need a word with Mr Wainwright as I have gotten him a pilot, then we are going to have to examine the girl and see if we can take Jace out before the fight."

Horizon, Near Future:
"Yeah I hear they lost a House to vampirism. One of the factions of the Nephandi who left us when we started focusing on well you know unmaking the world where heavily associated with the critters actually and two of my Labyrinth's pawns are vampires but damn I never knew they could harm an Avatar."
Sierra muttered and shook her head.
Colin nodded, "Essentially, don't get their blood into your system, and you will be fine. I suppose serving as a makeshift lunchbox is also inadvisable, but for different reasons..."

"Yeah but ok...this whole place is created by magick right? Who decided Avatar eating monstrosities where a good thing, did they have a list, unicorns check, two suns check, Avatar eating monstrosities check...?"
The prisoner asked and she raised an eyebrow.
He shrugged, "Perhaps they came in from somewhere else? Perhaps someone thought it would be a great prank? Perhaps someone got bit in their rear by the law of unintended consequences? Who can say anymore..."

"I see...Rebis that are those magi born in two parts who when they Awaken become one...shit we tried to convert one of those once...it did not end well..."
Sierra commented and frowned.
He nodded, "Except they don't become one when they Awaken, but when they meet. And I imagine that did not end well..."

"It probably would not and I guess it do not matter much the guy is uber, duber dead right?"
Sierra asked and Mia frowned a little at that she agreed Heylel and herself needed to be punished but she still cared about her old host.
He smiled wryly, "They died some 500 and change years ago, but Magi have long memories. There are some who were active back then..."

Steelhaven, Now:
"I see, well that is good to hear Mr Wainwright. A Postulant you say...hum...well good for Miss Adlebloom."
Jeffry said and he nodded.
He grinned wryly, "You wouldn't think so, with her rather, hm, high-spirited attitude, would you?"

He nodded, "The Primium, I suspect, is to function as a prison cell for the Avatar. As I said, the Lichdom potion replenishes itself in place of other bodily fluids; it seems the serum does not."

Jeffry paled a little at that.
"This is a matter that should be discussed in a very, well warded room..."
Was all he said.
He nodded, "I plan to make the necessary inquiries within a time bubble and a scrambling ward. The theory is... sound, at least before premises are verified or dismissed."

He nodded, "Quite. Oh, it seems I may be about to misplace my cookie jar into his cell shortly. Heavens know how that can happen, but he does seem quite convinced that cookies have a way of mysteriously disappearing..."

"Well the Cult of Ecstasy at least would agree with you they are quite concerned with the ethics of such matters."
Jeffry said and he grinned a little.
He nodded, "I suspect the Verbena would be inclined to agree, as well - they seem to have quite the comparable concerns for bodily autonomy, after all."

He nodded, "The Sentencing Hall will be a bleaker place than usual... though perhaps the coming months will serve to shock the population a bit."

"Ah yes off course, she is most skilled, she proceeded over a dispute I had with a Tytalus over the ownership of a book a few years ago, and she managed to negotiate the matter in a way so that both parties where satisfied."
Jeffry said and nodded.
He smiled thinly, "Hell, she may have singlehandedly saved Jurisprudence from a lynch mob at one point..."

"I am less concerned with them being disturbing Mr Wainwright and more concerned with them being a security risk."
Jeffry muttered and frowned.
He grimaced, "A kitten being a security risk is disturbing."

"I'm going to take that as a compliment, as you surely intended it to be."
He smiled, "But of course - when you speak, people hear every word."

"Try not to get my student to run of to join the circus Mr Wainwright."
The old Hermetic said sounding amused.
He chuckled softly, "You would prefer perhaps a Vaudeville magician act?"

"Have no fear, I have less interest in making others jump through hoops or announcing that we must send in the clowns than I do in my path." Then his demeanor became more serious again. "Well, what's first then?"
He grimaced, "I think it more likely that the Fallen will send in the clowns than that we do. Pennywise comes to mind..."

He nodded, "No, that matter needs to wait until I can check with a few other individuals for reference... hum, who is the pilot? The new Etherite woman with the paramilitary attitude? I don't quite think I got her name. If you say it is Mrs. Rembrandt who will do the flying, I may be compelled to overpower her and lock her in a broom cupboard for her own safety and take my chances on my own... but I don't think you would do that to a woman in her condition."

((OOC: I think that about wraps up the lines of conversation with Sierra in the future, so move on to the call to Tolle then? Razz ))

Colin:

Horizon Near Future:

Colin nodded, "Essentially, don't get their blood into your system, and you will be fine. I suppose serving as a makeshift lunchbox is also inadvisable, but for different reasons..."

"There are allot of things out there that would like to eat you Mr Wainwright but yeah I will try to avoid vampire blood."
Sierra said and frowned.

He shrugged, "Perhaps they came in from somewhere else? Perhaps someone thought it would be a great prank? Perhaps someone got bit in their rear by the law of unintended consequences? Who can say anymore..."

"Got to love practical jokers right."
The prisoner said and frowned.

He nodded, "Except they don't become one when they Awaken, but when they meet. And I imagine that did not end well..."

"They took the Gilledian's favorite apprentice hostage, damaged the Caul, killed several Pawns and escaped so no it did not go to well."

He smiled wryly, "They died some 500 and change years ago, but Magi have long memories. There are some who were active back then..."

"Well yes there is some shit old mages out there, I guess some are still butt hurt about the matter."
Sierra agreed.

You called Master Tolle and after a few rings the old Quesitor answered.
"Yes...this is Tolle whom am I addressing?"

Steelhaven Now:

He grinned wryly, "You wouldn't think so, with her rather, hm, high-spirited attitude, would you?"

"Often the most enlightened mage are not the ones sitting in a cave meditating, detached from the world, we where given flesh for a reason Mr Wainwright so no I do not see it as unlikely that Miss Adlebloom might reach such a state at some point in the future."
Jeffry said solemnly.

He nodded, "The Primium, I suspect, is to function as a prison cell for the Avatar. As I said, the Lichdom potion replenishes itself in place of other bodily fluids; it seems the serum does not."

"Hum...well the Avatar do not sit in the brain though some Union Men seam to think so they are spirits or bits of God so how would the Primium affect them directly, insulate between Avatar and host to make magick harder perhaps not not touch them directly."
The old war mage protested.

He nodded, "I plan to make the necessary inquiries within a time bubble and a scrambling ward. The theory is... sound, at least before premises are verified or dismissed."

"Very well keep me appraised on what you find out Mr Wainwright and like I said if we are to discuss this I will need to strengthen the wards first my office is thus protected but with all our wards compromised I am not comfortable discussing such sensitive information."
Jeffry said hastily to stop how much was said about it for now.

He nodded, "Quite. Oh, it seems I may be about to misplace my cookie jar into his cell shortly. Heavens know how that can happen, but he does seem quite convinced that cookies have a way of mysteriously disappearing..."

That made the old Hermetic grin a little.
"Yes I have heard that such treats have a nasty tendency to run of."

He nodded, "I suspect the Verbena would be inclined to agree, as well - they seem to have quite the comparable concerns for bodily autonomy, after all."

"They do agree indeed, especially since a majority of their members are woman and such cries while they also befall men more often happen to the fairer sex. Hum...come to think of it the Verbena Tradition usually vote with the Cultists in most matters."
Jeffry said and nodded.

He nodded, "The Sentencing Hall will be a bleaker place than usual... though perhaps the coming months will serve to shock the population a bit."

"The sentencing Hall is always a bleak place but yes I do suspect the coming months will see reactions, especially on Horizon but also in the Traditions at large."
Richard said and frowned.

He smiled thinly, "Hell, she may have singlehandedly saved Jurisprudence from a lynch mob at one point..."

Jeffry looked at you for a while then he nodded.
"Yes she might have indeed."
He agreed with a thin smile.

He grimaced, "A kitten being a security risk is disturbing."

"Ah but you forget my good man there is two of them, before you know it we will have a clowder on our hands."
The old Hermetic said and grinned then he turned serious.
"The problem off course being that they are not kittens, not really they are spirits that not an hour ago where trying to kill us and who might still be under this damned Nephandus Wallace Jace's direct command."

He chuckled softly, "You would prefer perhaps a Vaudeville magician act?"

Jeffry smiled thinly.
"Yes well that would be better but let us try to avoid that as well Mr Wainwright."

He nodded, "No, that matter needs to wait until I can check with a few other individuals for reference...

"Good."
Jeffry said and nodded.

hum, who is the pilot? The new Etherite woman with the paramilitary attitude? I don't quite think I got her name.

"Her name is Nicole Bouchard, no she is not the pilot but she have been tasked with maintaining the ship so she might be involved. The pilot is named Rodger Tasselwell bani Sons of Ether he is a skilled pilot and make his living at the Umbral docks."

If you say it is Mrs. Rembrandt who will do the flying, I may be compelled to overpower her and lock her in a broom cupboard for her own safety and take my chances on my own... but I don't think you would do that to a woman in her condition."

"Oh she offered when I mentioned I needed a skilled Umbral pilot for a dangerous mission, but no I would not send a woman in her condition on such a dangerous task even if she reminded me that she is a combat pilot on leave from Horizon's defense forces, she recommended Mr Tasselwell though. I have sent him to prepare the ship at the Umbra docks so it will be ready when you are."
Jeffry informed you.

Nicole:

'I've heard Morgan's hired someone to train up a pilot. But still makes me wonder; is it even possible to operate the thing properly with a crew of two, perhaps three?' Nicole said thoughtfully, keeping half an eye on the cells.

"Well that is the problem with mystics dear madam, they think that an Ethership is an Ethership end of story, there are small crafts that can be operated by one pilot and some need large crews to even get them across the Gauntlet, I guess we are going to have to see what this shuttle Master Morgan have gotten himself is like. I mean the mystics will be hysterical if they do not get to have the right kind of wand for the right spell but they assume that with our science everything is the same."
Rodger said and scoffed.

Horizon, Near Future:
"They took the Gilledian's favorite apprentice hostage, damaged the Caul, killed several Pawns and escaped so no it did not go to well."
Colin arched an eyebrow, "Okay, I am impressed. You don't happen to have that Rebis' name? I would like to shake their hand."

You called Master Tolle and after a few rings the old Quesitor answered.
"Yes...this is Tolle whom am I addressing?"
He took a deep breath, "Sir, this is Wainwright. The line is not secure... but I have another viable witness for the prosecution in the twin case. Unfortunately, her sentence is to be executed in a little over twenty minutes... Are you willing and able to arrange an extension?"

Steelhaven, Now:
"Often the most enlightened mage are not the ones sitting in a cave meditating, detached from the world, we where given flesh for a reason Mr Wainwright so no I do not see it as unlikely that Miss Adlebloom might reach such a state at some point in the future."
Jeffry said solemnly.
He grinned, "And I intend to enjoy watching her growth, for as long as I get... however long that turns out to be."

"Hum...well the Avatar do not sit in the brain though some Union Men seam to think so they are spirits or bits of God so how would the Primium affect them directly, insulate between Avatar and host to make magick harder perhaps not not touch them directly."
The old war mage protested.
He nodded, "I think perhaps the Union has it half-right - not that the Avatar is situated in that part of the brain, but that that part of the brain serves as the physical part of our connection to the soul. Not entirely dissimilar to how wedding rings often serve as the visible physical representation of a marriage. As such, the physical part of the link can be tampered with... I don't pretend to know precisely how it works, but I think they are convinced it works like that, and that is enough for them."

He nodded, "I trust your personal array of wards to suffice for brushing against the subject, but not for more in-depth discussion."

"The sentencing Hall is always a bleak place but yes I do suspect the coming months will see reactions, especially on Horizon but also in the Traditions at large."
Richard said and frowned.
He grimaced, "There will be... extensive aftershocks after this weekend, yes..."

He nodded, "True enough... I would think our Deaconess has some distinct advantages in controlling the... things, though. All the same, I would not want them to linger while Mr. Jace still lives. Perhaps after he is... dealt with, but even so..."

"Her name is Nicole Bouchard, no she is not the pilot but she have been tasked with maintaining the ship so she might be involved. The pilot is named Rodger Tasselwell bani Sons of Ether he is a skilled pilot and make his living at the Umbral docks."
He nodded, "In that case, I should make sure to have a good working relationship with Miss Bouchard. Hum, Tasselwell... I don't think I've met him."

He nodded, "Good... Oh, bugger, right, the Kiasyd, I haven't had the time... Has Mr. Ameli been secured? He would want his dagger back, after all... and we will want to retain his services for the strike teams."

Primium, Books and Risky Endeavors IC Thread 22 - Page 25 Empty Re: Primium, Books and Risky Endeavors IC Thread 22

Post by Adley Wed Nov 29, 2017 6:37 pm

After a moment sipping at the tea and trying to not make a face at it, the taut look of his body relaxed a bit and he gave a sigh as the pain lifted. He decided against adding blood to the brew, just in case he and the thermos became separated. At least that part did not take long to do and he stowed some of the alcohol wipes. "I need bigger pockets...or a different coat with more of them."

He nodded at that. "It's just....very strange. I hope there is nothing amiss with her and she can have a good life."

Often the most enlightened mage are not the ones sitting in a cave meditating, detached from the world, we where given flesh for a reason Mr Wainwright so no I do not see it as unlikely that Miss Adlebloom might reach such a state at some point in the future."
He grinned, "And I intend to enjoy watching her growth, for as long as I get... however long that turns out to be."

"I do hope a long while, amicus," he said. While he was glad for Ms Adleblooms possible future, he was equally worried that Colin did not seem to be a part of it.

"Am I going to have to try for the nesting dolls analogy again?" he wondered aloud.

"I am most pleased that you would not want to abandon your path and hope for Asencion to become a flashy performer."
He smiled, "But of course - when you speak, people hear every word."

He gave a small smile back to them.

He grimaced, "I think it more likely that the Fallen will send in the clowns than that we do. Pennywise comes to mind..."

"Just when I didn't have enough things to fuel nightmares..."

He gave a sidelong glance to Richard and then nodded to his pater. "If we're going to talk about that, we definitely need the wards up, all of them and the one for my voice."

hum, who is the pilot? The new Etherite woman with the paramilitary attitude? I don't quite think I got her name.
"Her name is Nicole Bouchard, no she is not the pilot but she have been tasked with maintaining the ship so she might be involved. The pilot is named Rodger Tasselwell bani Sons of Ether he is a skilled pilot and make his living at the Umbral docks."

"I can vouch for Ms Bouchard having an attitude of some sort, alright," he grumbled. "She's quite a fighter though," he added, since it was hard to deny and credit where it was due.

He nodded, "Good... Oh, bugger, right, the Kiasyd, I haven't had the time... Has Mr. Ameli been secured? He would want his dagger back, after all... and we will want to retain his services for the strike teams."

He blinked at that. He'd not been around when the man was found and had no idea what had become of him.

"I wasn't that young. And my parents did that a lot. They worked so hard so they were rarely around the house. I got used to being by myself and learned entertain myself." Serge said with a shrug.

Ulv smiled fondly as he looked at your drawing, studying it closely.
"That is...impressive Mr Yager, thank you it looks just like Liv down to the smallest details. You are quite talented young man."
He praised and gave you a grateful smile.

"No problem, I'll just place it right here where you can look at it." Serge said placing the picture next to the bound man so that he could look at it whenever he wanted.

"Hey I was thinking. You have a picture of your daughter. What if I draw a picture of you and give it to your daughter? You know give something to the daughter to connect her to her father." Serge suggested.

"I already have your words written down here. If I draw a picture on the same page I can make it look like its you saying them." Serge said turning to the page where he had written down Mr. Bergen's Norwegian message.

Nicole:

'I don't know squat about this, so must be easy.' Nicole quipped, grinning. 'Was thinking that perhaps if we're seriously lacking the manpower to run it, perhaps the Adepts might be able to automate some of the systems?'

"Yeah but try to tell one of the Mystics that their wands really is just a fancy stick and ask them why they can not just use a pen and watch the glare they give you."
Rodger said and scoffed again,
"Hopefully the ship can be piloted by one or two persons but yes if we need anyone else asking the Adepts for help might be a good idea though getting automated systems set up will take time you know, that will hardly make the shuttle ready for this mission planned today."

Colin Horizon Near Future:

Colin arched an eyebrow, "Okay, I am impressed. You don't happen to have that Rebis' name? I would like to shake their hand."

"Hum...Alexei Delva I think their name was but I am not completely sure, I might be remembering it wrong."
Sierra said and frowned.

He took a deep breath, "Sir, this is Wainwright. The line is not secure... but I have another viable witness for the prosecution in the twin case. Unfortunately, her sentence is to be executed in a little over twenty minutes... Are you willing and able to arrange an extension?"

"Good day Mr Wainwright. I am on my way to the Main Sentencing Hall for the ritual so I am aware of the prisoner you speak of."
Tolle said his voice showing no emotions.
"If her information can be considered to be of considerable value I can speak with the Council to allow such an extension, though the extension is not likely to be stretched beyond her giving her testimony to an interrogator, that the young woman have refused to talk before right before her sentence is to be carried out speak against arranging such an extension as it can be seen as a stalling tactic."

Steelhaven Now, Adley and Colin:

He grinned, "And I intend to enjoy watching her growth, for as long as I get... however long that turns out to be."

Jeffry nodded at that and gave you a slight smile.

"Within the Technocratic Paradigm that is correct yes but no while the pineal gland might have something to do with our spiritual nature yes but since different magi experience their Avatars in different ways it is unlikely that the physical brain have anything to do with it for most of us."
Jeffry said. Richard shrugged.
"We could ask our Mercere guest if I am allowed to scan then and then I can compare what I find with the brains of a healthy mage. Also the pineal glad have a function in the body, if a mage who have been...well you know have health issues related to it not working as it should then that could be a form of proof."
The Akashic suggested.

He nodded, "I trust your personal array of wards to suffice for brushing against the subject, but not for more in-depth discussion."

"It is better to be safe than sorry Mr Wainwright."
Jeffry said sternly.

He grimaced, "There will be... extensive aftershocks after this weekend, yes..."

Richard sigh and nodded at that.

He nodded, "True enough... I would think our Deaconess has some distinct advantages in controlling the... things, though. All the same, I would not want them to linger while Mr. Jace still lives. Perhaps after he is... dealt with, but even so..."

"Even so I would prefer if the ehm...cats where released into the Umbra or banished, there is no need to take the risk of keeping them if Mara wants pets getting her some real cats would be a small matter."
The old Hermetic said and frowned.

He nodded, "In that case, I should make sure to have a good working relationship with Miss Bouchard. Hum, Tasselwell... I don't think I've met him."

"Getting to know Miss Bouchard might be wise yes. As for Mr Tasselwell he comes from a Chantry in Worcester."
Jeffry said and nodded.

He nodded, "Good... Oh, bugger, right, the Kiasyd, I haven't had the time... Has Mr. Ameli been secured? He would want his dagger back, after all... and we will want to retain his services for the strike teams."

"I am not sure, as far as I know locating Mr Ameli have been Master Sharaya's job so you are going to have to ask him about it Mr Wainwright."
The old Hermetic said.

"Are the medicine Master Nassa gave you working mea filius?"
Jeffry asked as he saw you relaxing then he smiled a little.
"Yes I see how that can be a problem, you can consider getting a bag of some sort off course, a messager bag can be quite useful."
He added.

He nodded at that. "It's just....very strange. I hope there is nothing amiss with her and she can have a good life."

"We where attacked by what is in effect a slime monster, of which one of our Deacons cerated two cats, are a clone really that much stranger Adley?"
Richard asked and raised an eyebrow.
"We know the Progenitors make clones quite regularly, hell even sleeper scientists can do that now."
He added and Jeffry just nodded.
"The girl will be examined."
He assured you.

"Am I going to have to try for the nesting dolls analogy again?" he wondered aloud.

"Hum...you do have a point there mea filius, that might be a good analogy for it."
Jeffry agreed.

He gave a sidelong glance to Richard and then nodded to his pater. "If we're going to talk about that, we definitely need the wards up, all of them and the one for my voice."

"Agreed I will need to re cast the wards for my office first, so if you have anything you wish to do first then it will take me a few minutes to do so."
The old Hermetic said. Richard stood slowly as if he understood that his presence was no longer completely welcome.
"Anyway I should go and check on the two prisoners that needed medical care and also check in on Kyle."
He said.
"By your leave Master Morgan?"
He asked and Jeffry nodded.
"Yes off course Dr Lee thank you."
He said and Richard took his kit and then nodded to you and Colin.
"I will see you both later then, and Adley do you have what you need for your ehm...tea..."
He asked and glanced at your thermos.

"I can vouch for Ms Bouchard having an attitude of some sort, alright," he grumbled. "She's quite a fighter though," he added, since it was hard to deny and credit where it was due.

"The woman show a lac of good breeding at time yes but she do appear to be skilled with what she do."
Jeffry said.
"I think it will be worth it to give her a chance."

Serge:

"I wasn't that young. And my parents did that a lot. They worked overtime so they were rarely around the house. They were always busy with their work so I learned to entertain myself." Serge said with a shrug.

"Well far be it for me to judge I have sent my daughter to live with a Mentor as I can not train her in magick and she Awakened quite young, even so I do not like it when parents do not spend time with their children, having a child is a gift one should not squander."
Ulv said and he frowned.

"No problem, I'll just place it right here where you can look at it." Serge said placing the picture next to the bound man so that he could look at it whenever he wanted.

"Thank you Mr Yager I am grateful to you for this favor."
The rune mage said as he glanced over at the drawing of his daughter.

Ulv seamed to consider for a moment and he seamed a bit doubtful.
"I do not want her to see me like this, disheveled an bound to a shelf, I am likely to be executed I do not want her to remember me like this. However if you can draw me in a way that she do not see such things then that might be a nice gift for her, as I have few others to give her at the moment."
He said a bit sadly.
