Colin nodded, "Reduce, reuse, recycle... Which reminds me, I never heard back about the buckets of Technocrat... hum, not important now, I suppose."Anja wrote:"Indeed it will."
The Verbena woman said darkly.
"They betrayed us now their life force will strengthen us."
He nodded, "Quite, I suppose breaking skin would be beneficial to a Verbena captive, in any case... Hum, does anyone know who any of these people are?"Anja wrote:The vines was strong but had a bit of flex to them so they was not brittle.
"Why thank you, and yes that could be done, it would even be easier as then the prisoner's own life patters could be manipulated rather than those of a seed."
She replied.
"I thought this would be more humane and yet secure enough."

"Now that I own real estate and have a secret lair there's nothing I can't do."
As he said that Serge closed his eyes and opened his mind to the thoughts of all those around him. Feeling their emotions as if they were his own.

Anja wrote:Amadeus nodded as he finished his work, he healed his own cuts.
"Good, thank you kid then I am sure he will recover, he will need time and rest but I have repaired the damage and if his consciousness is intact that should be enough."
The Verbena said. The bottle was filled with some sort of dark brown liquid, it looked like fancy mustard but probably was not.
"What are the chances you can learn something of the emotions from the prisoners, not reading them deeply we need premission for that but just scimming of the ambient emotions kid?"
¨Amadeus asked as he wiped down his hands and then looked around to see if anyone else needed help.

'Dunno. Got 'em from a TimeStop security officer.' giving a little frown at the healing of wounds, then starting to remove all the items from the Verbena. 'Anyone got a baggie or something for her crap?'
'Fuck. Though makes you wonder why, like.' Nicole replied, now crouching down by the captured Etherite and quickly emptying his pockets. 'Why not simply tighten the blockade, pick off unescorted units?'
'Might regret that if he has powerful friends for string-pulls.' she replied a shade darkly.
Silently, she performed a fireman's lift on the prisoner, then pulled out her cell. Performing the reverse call on the TimeStop security officer who'd called her earlier.
[Nick isn't an LEO of Horizon (or a formal deputy). Ethics Council has not (yet) charged him with anything and she isn't a Tradition LEO so Nick has no Etherite authority for detention. Horizon may not operate the 'hot pursuit' rule that Anglo societies have (basically, 'I saw them first, so my collar') which means the Verbena security might be within their rights to take him in.]
- Anja's Post:
- "Will those keep her from using magick?"
One of the Verbena asked.
"And you are not going to need those thing we are all healers we will fix her wounds in no time."
She added as she put her hands on the prisoner and the woman's grievous wounds started to close up and vanish.
'Dunno. Got 'em from a TimeStop security officer.' giving a little frown at the healing of wounds, then starting to remove all the items from the Verbena. 'Anyone got a baggie or something for her crap?'
- Colin's Post:
- Colin nodded, "I just had a word with my Diedne friend... Seems she was unsuccessfully attacked by the minions of our encounter on the way to Horizon. She swung by to warn us that the Nephandi are gathering substantial forces for a major assault, and soon. Given that warning, I trust your accusation to be correct. Admiral Hastings is already rallying the Realm's defenses, I'm sure she'll be quite keen to have a word with the kid. Hum... Best call the case in, and make sure to add a note to inform her personally.
'Fuck. Though makes you wonder why, like.' Nicole replied, now crouching down by the captured Etherite and quickly emptying his pockets. 'Why not simply tighten the blockade, pick off unescorted units?'
- Anja's Post:
- "Well if you want the Etherite I suggest you nab him now our own security are on the way and there might be...if you excuse the pun, strings attached if they get to wrap him up in red tape. I don't mind the Etherites dealing with their own, we have enough with these two traitors."
She said glowering at the prisoners, giving them a look which promised much stabbing.
'Might regret that if he has powerful friends for string-pulls.' she replied a shade darkly.
- Anja's Post:
- Colin shook his head, "No, Dalisse was the apprentice of Diedne's first apprentice... a lovely, if slightly alien-looking woman, quite the pleasant conversationalist. Hum, Nick, best hoist the kid and bring him back to your superiors, then."
Glancing at the downed Verbena traitors, he added, "I trust you're planning to actually question them before using them to water your tree?"
Silently, she performed a fireman's lift on the prisoner, then pulled out her cell. Performing the reverse call on the TimeStop security officer who'd called her earlier.

"Waste not want not."
The Verbena replied then she raised an eyebrow.
"Technocrat in a bucket?"
The woman you had been talking with nodded and pointed at the tall dark captive.
"That is Elisabeth Gold she is a long time resident here...and that one."
She pointed at the shorter paler woman.
"Is Sheila Rhodes she just came in with a group from Chantry Rosegarten from Huston. I have no idea who the Etherite is."
The she added.
"I am Martha Huang by the way...I think I forgot to say that...bani Verbena."
There was the expected fear, stress and anger from everyone involved, relief from the survivors, but from the prisoners in addition to the fear there was this feeling of triumph which should not be there with someone tied up and waiting to be made into fertilizer.
"You know the first step in keeping a lair secret is to not talk about it Mr Yager."
Amadeus said sounding amused.
"Did you get anything?"
Jeffry ran his hands over the restraints.
"Hum...there are the presence of Vim...yes they will prevent magick."
He said as you removed daggers, more daggers, even more daggers and even a few more daggers from the captured Verbena and a key, wallets, phone, lipstick and various odds and ends, bags of herbs, a few crystals and a wand.
"I have the bags I use when I walk my dog will those do?"
One of the Verbena defenders asked, he had been healed and was testing out his previously hurt leg.
The kid had several bottles of oddly colored liquids, some sort of Geiger counter, something that looked a little like a ray gun, a small box with wires and switches as over it, a mini tool set. A wallet, two more burner phones, a chocolate, more ammo for his gun and the program from the cybernetics convention in his pockets.
"Which is why while I do not know the legality of it you are free to nab him, then he is out of our hair and no longer our problem and his friends will have someone else to direct their anger at."
Martha said with a bright smile.
You got an answer allmost immediatly.
"Yes what news?"
The security officer asked.
(OOC: Inter Tradition justice is a nightmare. The correct procedure is probably to call an Enforcer and have them formally arrest the guy but the Verbena just want him out of their hair and deal with their own.)
Colin nodded, "Reduce, reuse, recycle... Which reminds me, I never heard back about the buckets of Technocrat... hum, not important now, I suppose."

He paused for a moment, "This Miss Rhodes... hm, that pallor, could that be Jhor, or just regular lack of sunlight exposure? Seems odd this time of year for your Tradition..."
((OOC: Looking it up, is Rosegarten in Houston, Texas, or in Huston Township, Pennsylvania? That seems fairly important, as the latter is, in fact, snuggled up to New England. ))
Colin shook his head, "The defenses only extend so far from Concordia for now, and it seems the assault will be of some size... The Nephanda in charge wanted Dalisse's ship as an additional Battlecruiser, implying they have at least one. Dalisse is willing to aid us, fortunately, so that helps, but... it will be close, too close to the surface...Nicole wrote:'Fuck. Though makes you wonder why, like.' He bowed politely, "Colin Wainwright, Orphan Adeptus, of Chantry Steelhaven Hall. I answer directly to Masters Nassa and Morgan there, and Mr. Yager and Miss Bouchard there are my Cabalmates. Martha seamed to finally realize what the Orphan was saying.
"Wait what...someone is attacking Horizon? With Nephandi Battle cruisers? Who is Dalisse? Do the Security Council know? For that matter how do you know? Is this trouble right here related."
The Verbena chuckle.
"Sounds like perfect fertilizer. I hope all your people survived and are well though."
"Ah yes nice to meet you Mr Wainwright...wait the Colin Wainwright? The most annoying Orphan in the Tellurian?..."
Martha exclaimed.
"Ah ehm...sorry that just fell out of me...ehm do forgive me."
She looked at the prisoner.
"I mean white people are pale at times, she is from somewhere in Northern Europe originally I think or at least her family is some of them always look like they are sick...no offense."
She said with a shrug.
"If being pale was all there was to finding Nephandi you would have a whole lot of Fallen in Sweden."

'Yu Donghyun, Etherite Disciple, currently of St Agnes, Detroit.' Nicole answered calmly, still dealing with them. 'Before that, he was at Rosegarden, which is how he knew Rhodes.'
'Fair enough, 'part from the blades.' she replied, taking a bag and dumping the non-knive items within it.
'Target captured. Oh, they gave you the slip when they got into the cab; did the old holo dummy and teleport out trick. But I need a site-to-site transport; to our security office, please. Assume there is one at the Dock or something.' still with the guy over her shoulders.
A moment's silence, then the Etherite shook her head, then shrugged. Not her problem.
[Can Serge ID what emotions go with each person? If he can, might be an idea for us two to mention what our PCs are feeling right now.]
[Not really relevant which Houston, as the Etherite travelled from Detroit and the Pennsylvania one is still ~600 miles from Boston. In fact, it might be quicker to get from Texas as you could go via plane.]
[Actual headline from Irish newspaper. Though Massachusetts has a lot of Irish decent also, so the sun allergy will be there too.]
[Nah, it's the 13th of September with the big moving day. I'm currently drawling up a calendar plan of all the tasks I need to do (and when).]

"I see I will need to discuss this with Lady Quey in addition to informing her about the attack at the library."
Martha said with a frown.
"I am sure she can be examined for what Resonance she carries however simply being pale is no grounds to suspect Jhor, not when it is normal paleness and not a sickly pallor."
The Verbena replied firmly.
"As for your new ehm...nickname again I am sorry for my rudeness Mr Wainwright."
"Ehm...I am here because I was told Sue Rosegarten, one of my magickal relative had ended up in an altercation but I do not see her here, I suggest we seek out the rest of the Rosegarten delegation and find out what the blazes are wrong."
Amadeus grumbles.
You got handed a bag.

"Sneaky bastard...and yes there is two actually a office for the Ethics Council and the harbor security which is technically under the Security Council but is mostly run by us."

"I am working on a teleport now which office do you prefer?"

Only the bad guys are feeling triumphant. That doesn't track. Me and Mr. Wainwright came here late. Did they manage to accomplish whatever objective they had?"
He arched an eyebrow, "What the hell did they do... hm, Nick, you ran into the kid at the conference, do you know what he did there? Perhaps he reported back of a successful mission?"Anja wrote:"I don't know the whole situation is a mess. From what I ehard there was a fight in the kitchen between Sue Rosegarten and several others, our three prisoners was involved but on what side I do not know. They fled into the hallway, shot one of our brothers barring their path and fled into the library where we confronted them."
Martha replied.
"Could you examine closer young man...sorry I missed your name."
The Verbena who seamed to be the senior of the defenders asked.

"Serge Yager bani Cult of Ecstasy." Serge replied. "Yeah I can take a closer look. Honestly the hardest part is getting permission."
"True true. Counterpoint. There's a lot of flavors of smugness. Like 'We know something you don't' smugness. Or 'This was all a distraction' smugness. Or the classic 'We have active bombs implanted in our stomach' smugness. Let's hope it's yours though." Serge said as he prepared to cast his next spell.

Martha just nodded at that.
"My point is that assuming for example someone have Dynamic Resonance because they are a bit jittery when there are a million mundane reasons why they could be is a bit premature, that someone have pale skin is not really an indication of Jhor if they do not look sickly and she do not."
The Verbena said with a sigh then she nodded.
"I guess taking nicknames and making them your own is a thing Mr Wainwright."
"Right out there in the hallway you should have seen the scene and the folks trying to heal him when you entered the library."
Martha said and pointed.
"As for who one of our own Timian Silveroad."
"I want to check on Sue once we are done here if that is acceptable to everyone, perhaps she will know more about what is going on."
Amadeus said.
"Yeah no not alone she might be involved."
Jeffry protested.
"She is my relative."
"Sometimes relatives disappoint us."
Jeffry added and Amadeus frowned.
The Verbena who gave you the bag for the rest of the prisoner's items took the knives and nodded and put them on a table.
"Harbor security they are the best equipped."
The other Etherite replied.
"It is nice to meet you Mr Yager I am Martha Huang bani Verbena. Then please do young man we need more information."
She said indicating the prisoners.
The prisoners had ears so they was mostly careful not to think to much about their plans knowing you would be trying to read their mind but from the smaller woman you got this stray thought.
"It do not matter what happens to us, we got the others to the linking chamber, if we disconnect one Node Horizon's defenses will be compromised enough for our ships to break through, we only need to make sure the mission succeeds."
From the Etherite you got.
"Teletubbies having sex with My Little Ponies think of Teletubbies having sex with My Little Ponies...need to learn how these idiots escaped the Mistress...teletubbies having at it on ponies like bunnies on speed."
The taller woman's mind was dark and just wrong she was just thinking of horrible things she wanted to do with all of you, most of it would requite impressive magick to even be possible but would probably be quite painful if she pulled it off.
Colin nodded, "Agreed... she will want to know as much as possible as soon as possible, I am sure."
Martha just nodded at that.
He chuckled, "You are correct, and Jhor in itself is not a crime, in any case - as for the nickname, I'll gladly take some pride in it. If certain powerful people can find nothing worse to do to me than give me nicknames, I am quite content with that..."

"That is understandable."

"And the prisoners will be checked for their Resonances."

Came a voice from the doorway a tall thin man who was drenched in blood walked in on unsteady legs supported by two other Verbena.

"I am sure Sue is not involved though but I will bring someone with me."

"Yeah I was just coming out of a room down the hall, it is a sitting room but I use it as a plant nursery, anyway my familiar said she felt something Qlipothic, and I saw a group of our guests along with a kid I don't know heading past me on the way to the library, I stopped them and asked what they where doing there and the kid pull out a gun. I remember three impacts and then nothing before I woke up on the floor with several of my brothers and sisters around me."
The man seaming still confused as he was helped to a seat.
"Yeah his familiar came and got us to help."
One of the newcomers a woman with bright red dyed hair explained pointing to a ferret sitting on her shoulder.
"I will go with Master Nassa."
Helena offered. Jeffry nodded. There was the sound of allot of feet heading in this direction and Martha sigh.
"That will be our security I will go and delay them so that your big friend here can get her Traditionmate out of here so I do not have to deal with that paperwork."
The Verbena said before she headed out of the library at some speed.

The Etherite gave you a sour look.
"I am not sure what they mean with a linking chamber."
One of the Verbena said with a frown then he paled.
"She don't mean the portal right, linking the Node the Verbena supply as our tax to Horizon with the energy flow of the realm?"
She said sounding nervous.
There was some raised eyebrows at that.
"Space adventures? He want to do what with what now?"

Amadeus picked up a big book of a shelf and smacked the tall woman unconscious.
"Well she is not working magick now."

"That's very likely what their talking about. According to their thoughts they want to disconnect the Node specifically to weaken Horizon's defenses. "Yeah. I'd rather not talk about it in case we let slip some crucial information. I do wanna know why he wants to know about that trip so badly."

"Well....that's certainly one way of doing it." Serge said looking down at the unconscious women. "I don't think it matter much whether she's fallen or not. The more pressing concern right now is stopping whatever their doing at this linking chamber."

[Chantry Complex]
"Yes Qlipothic magick but I do not know if it is one of them, or all of them or an item they carry, only that my familiar felt one source of it. If your testing method is expensive then it might be better to just have us examine it further."
The wounded man said with a slight groan holding his head.
Two of the Verbena nodded and rushed of to check.
"I see and you where attacked on your way to Horizon then Mr Wainwright?"
Martha asked.
Jeffry hesitated then he nodded.
"Yes we need to know but remember we do not know which of our prisoners are Fallen if any. Right now she seam to be out cold though."
He said and frowned at Amadeus's handiwork. The old Verbena just grinned.
"That would indeed seam to be the logical conclusion kid and also I do not think it sound like they mean to corrupt the connection as corrupted it would still work, create problem but still work but if the flow of Quintessence is turned of it will weaken our realm defenses."
Martha replied with a frown.
"Likely troubleshooting to find out why the attack failed."
Amadeus said.
"But yes we can discuss it at length when not in front of the prisoners just to be sure.
"If she is Fallen that indicate we are in far more trouble than if she is not."
Amadeus said as he returned to Serge's side after knocking the prisoner unconscious.
Colin pondered, carefully pulling out a small sachet from his breast pocket, "Actually Qlippothic... I can test for that. Quite pleasant unless you're Fallen, very much not so if you are... My, hm, test kit is in very short supply, though; I only had so much to spare for the trip."
"Yes Qlipothic magick but I do not know if it is one of them, or all of them or an item they carry, only that my familiar felt one source of it. If your testing method is expensive then it might be better to just have us examine it further."
The wounded man said with a slight groan holding his head.
He frowned, "That... sound very much like what would be used to disrupt the defenses and let the Fallen through. Best verify that right away - if it turns out there is corrupted Quintessence in the flow, I can help clean it out safely, just call on me, I've... my own reason to linger for a little bit, anyway."
Two of the Verbena nodded and rushed of to check.

"That's very likely what their talking about. According to their thoughts they want to disconnect the Node specifically to weaken Horizon's defenses. Apparently one node is enough to weaken it so that their ships can come through." Serge said, "I'm more worried about the fact that there are 'others' besides these guys. Doesn't that mean there are more enemies around?"
"That would indeed seam to be the logical conclusion kid and also I do not think it sound like they mean to corrupt the connection as corrupted it would still work, create problem but still work but if the flow of Quintessence is turned of it will weaken our realm defenses."
