Anja wrote:"The mischievous spirit must be one of my gandfather's imps. My Mentor have told me about them, they sound like allot of fun. And yes a place like this would be full of plant spirits."
Stephen said and Bianca smiled a little.
"I wish I could see them."
She commented.

"You should ask Adley to share his spirit sense with you. He always welcomes an excuse to teach people stuff. Actually....hey Stephen can you see spirits?" Serge asked curiously.

"I do not really know Mr Roth Hicks well enough to feel comfortable asking him for a favor Mr Yager. All I know is that he is important to my sister."
Bianca replied and shook her head. Stephen nodded.
"Yeah I can see spirits, I can do nothing else with them but I can see them."
The apprentice confirmed.

"Can you use your magick without your mentor nearby? If you can, do you think you can tell us how the plant spirit are doing?" he said with a grin.

"With Joe getting worse and my uncle beside himself with worry, I do not want to tax Morningstar's remaining teleporters, and I will be well enough to take care of it myself, I will be fine Adley."
Freddy assured you.

"I meant by car."

[Westchapel]

He nodded, "That's appreciated, too."

He nodded. "That I can do."

Dr Hadermann's young apprentice opened the door again and gave a slight bow.
"Mr Wainwright...Mr ehm...ah forgive me I do not know your name Sir."
The girl said and looked at Adley.
"Come right in my teacher is expecting Mr Wainwright, he is in his lab."

He nodded to her as she looked at him. "Mr Roth Hicks, bani Flambeau."

Anja wrote:"I see, but what would be the purpose of this, who where the assassin after? Anna? Well thankfully she don't remember having been given the serum. Hum...one more mystery to sort out I guess."
Colin frowned, "That seems to be the case - though whether Anna was the ultimate target remains unclear. The timing of her death would have... jeopardized our past and future successes against the Fallen."

Anja wrote:"Can someone give you a lift?"
S7trif3 wrote:"I meant by car."
He smiled wryly, "She's visiting her cousin in Chicago, Amicus. Bit of a long drive."

[Westchapel]
Anja wrote:The young Chorister gave you a polite nod. Westchapel where an abandoned factory, there where rooms with old equipment but some of those rooms had been rebuilt into rooms usable for the Chantry, you got up to a set of doors, a long hallway, each door where different of material, design and form, thee where clearly living quarters. Here and there you met the mages who lived at the Chantry and they gave you and Colin polite nods as you passed them.
He nodded politely back to the assorted Magi.

Anja wrote:"That would be Miss Adlebloom yes? I heard someone where sent to escort someone from the portal chamber so I suspect that is her then."
Dustin asked as he showed you and Adley to the Deacon Primus' chambers and knocked on the door.
S7trif3 wrote:He nodded to her as she looked at him. "Mr Roth Hicks, bani Flambeau."
He grinned, "My Cabalmate and second-in-command. To the extent that rank carries much significance in the larger scheme of things..."
He stepped inside, giving the apprentice a nod, and fished out the serum bottle and the unused syringes, "Hello again, Dr. Hadermann. I'm pleased to report the serum proved unneeded. I did need to employ one syringe, though, to secure a blood sample on a peripheral matter. We've also gained a bit more intel as well as an inside informant... would you like a summarised report right away, or would you prefer to wait for the more elaborated written report?"

"Fair enough." he said simply.

Bianca nodded at that.

"Can you use your magick without your mentor nearby? If you can, do you think you can tell us how the plant spirit are doing?" he said with a grin.

"Yeah I am allowed to do sensory magick on my own though I have to ask before doing something more practical unless there is some emergency."
Stephen said and he begun to do several hand gestures, they where similar to the ones the Chief used but more complicated than the simple, elegant gestures Adley used and he muttered in Latin and then looked around.
"Most of them are sleeping, but there are some, like green lights floating around, they are attracted to the garden since they are so healthy."
The young Hermetic said and Bianca smiled at that.

[Fenway]

'Shit... I hate places like this.' Nicole muttered in a tone which almost contained a wrinkled nose. 'Gated fucker too, if Google Maps is right. You got any ideas on how to get past the rent-a-cops and shit?' looking to Helena.

"Hum...we should have thought of this before we left Steelhaven...is there perhaps someone at the Chantry who might have the ability to get the guards to look the other way? Or make them think we belong there?"
Helena asked.
"That might be the easiest way to get past them without risking harming any of them."

[Driving]

"I meant by car."

"I am at Chicago visiting my sick relative."
Freddy said.
"So I do not think we have the time for me to travel by car."

Colin frowned, "That seems to be the case - though whether Anna was the ultimate target remains unclear. The timing of her death would have... jeopardized our past and future successes against the Fallen."

"Shit, so the Fallen might still be in the picture?"
Freddy asked.
"I am glad Anna is safe though, but we have to figure out who have it in for her...and kick their butts."
The Virtual Adept declared.

[Westchapel]

He nodded to her as she looked at him. "Mr Roth Hicks, bani Flambeau."

The apprentice curtsy when you presented yourself.
"I am Alicia Fairfield bani Sons of Ether apprentice to Dr Seth Hadermann."
Se said politely.
"It is nice to meet you Mr Roth Hicks."

He grinned, "My Cabalmate and second-in-command. To the extent that rank carries much significance in the larger scheme of things..."

"Well you are both higher rank than me Sir."
Alicia said and smiled.
"I can't wait to have Cabalmates of my own though, that will be so cool...ehm sorry Sir I did not mean to blabber...please come in both of you."

We've also gained a bit more intel as well as an inside informant... would you like a summarized report right away, or would you prefer to wait for the more elaborated written report?"

"Very good, if you could put the bottle in that cabinet over there."
Dr Hadermann said as he put a wide sheet of paper on one of the work benches of his lab.
"Give me what information you think is relevant to my work here."
He said then he noticed that Adley where there and nodded to the Hermetic.
"Ehm...you are Jeffry Morgan's kid are you not?"
He asked and called you by your apprentice name, he had clearly fogotten that Hermetics took a new name when they where fully initiated.
"Mr Wainwright ah yes there are some hand sanitizer there please wipe down your hands, and the bottle before putting it in the cabinet and then the door to the cabinet, before you have been tested we need to be careful, we have a member with cybernetics and also an elderly member with a peacemaker, we would not want them to get sick now do we."

"What I can do is cast as spell which will increase ou luck and make it more likely that we will just not be noticed, creating a sort of tmporary Arcane if you will, then we can try to sneak inn the service elevator and get to Fio's apartment that way."
Helena said.
"Then just make as little noise as possible as we make our way to the apartment and hope we are not noticed, that might work."
The Hermetic said.
"Such spells are never one hundred percent sure to work though."

"Very well, let us do that."
She said, you saw there where open placed to part right next to a fancy little coffee shop that had underpaid barristas working minimum wage to serve rich clients coffee drinks thy themselves could never afford buying.
"We could part over there."
The Flambeau said and pointed at the parking lot behind the coffee shop.

He nodded and liberally sanitized his hands and the bottle, making sure not to miss anything, before even touching the cabinet, and then wiping down the cabinet again after that, while beginning his condensed report, "We found the wayward Euthanatos and made contact - she's here to investigate and determine whether her foster father is involved or not. I volunteered our support, and I believe she'll be a great asset when it comes to identifying the guilty individuals; I believe her statement that her first loyalty is to us. From the ghoul that was sent to greet her also, we learned another family's name - Milliner or Milliners - what I suppose would be considered a branch family of the Giovanni; it would seem that they are the ones dragging the rest of the clan into this mess. I also had a thought on the way back - the plague seems to display a resilience to magic, not too dissimilar to the bloody serum. Perhaps mixing a few drops of the two could induce a reaction? Also, my girlfriend informed me that you've discovered traces of her peculiar nerve tissue in the plague... I'm wondering how those got in there..."

Colin frowned, "We know the Fallen have collaborators in our ranks... and we don't have anything solid as to the culprit's identity. But we have a good idea..."

"I see...well I guess this to is something we should not discuss openly over the phone then, but we will figure this out, eventually."
Freddy said with a sigh.
"We really did not need more trouble."

He smiled wryly, "As an Orphan, I must say that not everyone would agree with you on that point... but thank you for that vote of confidence, at least."

"I am sure many treat Orphans badly Sir but I would not hold it against someone that they are not as fortunate as me to have found a teacher."
Alicia said with a slight smile.

The elder Etherite nodded as he listened to your words as he continued to prepare the bench.
"I see, I have never head the name Milliner, but I will look up into it. As fo the Serum, well it is worth testing, I could contact my collage on Horizon who brought the serum to the Traditions...but he is a hard man to work with..."
He said and frowned.

"It is not a question about how Miss Adlebloom's brain tissue got in there, the plague seam to be made from it and then modified."
Dr Haermann said.
"I will be abl to tell more when I examine her spinal fluid."
He said an indicated the table.
"I fear this is no hospital ward but this table should suffice for the procedure."

Anja wrote:The elder Etherite nodded as he listened to your words as he continued to prepare the bench.

Colin grimaced, "It's rather the same trouble revisiting... but yes."

"Indeed, as soon you think you have uprooted it then the nasty weeds poke right up out of the ground again."
Freddy agreed with a frown.

He shrugged, "Not everyone who has a teacher is better off for it, I hear tell... Though that is, admittedly, the exception rather than the rule. Most people treat Orphans indifferently, rather than badly, but there are those select few... Well, that's not for the here and now."

"I guess you are right Sir some do abuse their apprentices, I spoke with Gwen the other day...apprentice to Master Dubois over at Lux Itineris. I would not want to be in her shoes, though she still love he teacher and worry about him...well I should not gossip I suppose."
Alicia said and sigh.
"Anyway Dr Hadermann do not care much who you are, he just care about his research really."

He nodded, "I will ask Miss Bouchard to look into the matter in a more practical manner, if she is so inclined. Perhaps the captive downstairs will be able to shed a little more light on that

"Yes I will ask her if she can look into the Milliners further, I have begun to see young Miss Bouchard as a rather capable Scientist."
Dr Hadermann said.
"You are her Cabal leader are you not Mr Wainwright?"

Speaking of him, I don't know if Miss Bouchard got word to you, the Euthanatos Irene Giovanni asked permission to perform the eventual execution of Fio Giovanni, to ensure his passing is at least not needlessly painful. If her involvement in the case makes her unacceptable to you, she requested I perform that final mercy in her stead."

"I will get Mr Giovanni interrogated about the Milliners."
The Etherite said and nodded ten he sigh.
"If this sickness is stopped then I will agree to let Mr Giovanni be executed and let Miss Giovanni perform the deed, under supervision. However if this illness is not stopped and thousands i not more die, shattering the Law of Shade in the process then I will have him stand trial for crimes against humanity."
He said firmly.

He frowned, "As for the good doctor who introduced the serum, there's something I've been wondering about. He managed to derive the formula from a blood sample taken from a Cabalmate, but the stuff is injected into the muscle, not the bloodstream, to slow the distribution for the duration, and goes rather straight to the brain... how did he get enough out of the blood to analyze? Also, the serum contains Primium particles; how did he detect those? There are a few questions that might need to be asked..."

"I do not know and I am a biologist by specialization. Someone being on the serum show up in a Etheric scan...ehm...a Primal examination and it can show up in spinal fluids but I have never known much of it to show up n the blood stream. But my collage is a respected Scientist if he says the created the serum from a blood sample taken from a Cabalmate rescued from the Union then I have to believe him."
Dr Hadermann said and frowned.
"But it is most peculiar...he did write an article in the Paradigma on his findings but he did not describe his method."

He nodded, "Of course, of course, my concern is how did the makers of this plague acquire this? The Union would most certainly not create an uncontrolled plague that can kill every last one of their own cyborgs, so someone else would have had to obtain the tissues and then weaponized it..."

"I have no answers for your questions Mr Wainwright. I however concur that it makes little sense for the Technocracy to be behind this, but as to how Miss Adlebloom's neural tissue got into the hands of these plague makers all I know is what is on file, as a young, newly initiated Adept Miss Adelebloom was taen captive by the Union during a mission, she was held for nearly two weeks until her late Mentor found out which Construct she was held in and she gathered a strike team and attacked the Construct, making it all the way inside where she managed to restive Miss Adlebloom. The young Virtual Adept had been experimented on and had suffered massive neurological damage, however a team of Etherite and Verbena physicians managed to save her life. She spent a month at the Etherite hospital on Horizon and then moved to Boston, apparently healed, at least physically."
The Scientist said then he walked over to one of his cabinet and peered in through the glass door.
"Well then, the woman in question should be here soon...hum...do you know if Miss Adlebloom have any allergies to common local anesthetics?"
He said before sanitizing his hands and opening the cupboard to find a small bottle of medicine.
"I assume she will want one used."

He nodded, "I would, of course, not want to accuse so esteemed a Scientist of anything without solid grounds on which to base an accusation, but the omissions do appear... peculiar indeed. As a suggestion, there's an excellent physician on Horizon, a dual Tradition member, both Etherite and Verbena, who might be able to provide some new insights; you might consider consulting her."

Anja wrote:"I have no answers for your questions Mr Wainwright.
He frowned, "I do not believe she has any such allergies, though I would suggest you cross-reference with her regular medications to ensure there are no unfortunate interactions there. I am... not certain local anesthesia will be entirely effective, though, owing to another matter... You will have to double-check with her on her arrival."

((OOC: Has Freddy been receiving the lichdom therapy and rendered herself immune to local anesthesia over the past couple months, or has she decided to postpone the anti-Primium treatment until the method is made public?))

"That's pretty sick. Glad to hear there not being tormented by an imp." Serge said looking impressed. "Still don't have that spirit thing down yet. All right so that's the garden. Next up, we go one floor down to either the chapel or the training room. Which one would you prefer we go to first?"

Colin grinned darkly, "Oh, believe me, I look forward to uprooting this particular weed... I might get a little vindictive with the gardening tools."

"Yes count me in on that gardening effort love."
Freddy replied darkly.
"We can discuss this at more length later."

[Westchapel]

He frowned, "Gwen is right to worry; I am aware of... some of the problems at Lux Itineris. But you are correct, you should not gossip. But writing things down might be a good idea, in case you're questioned later."

"Ehm questioned later Sir? I only spoke with Gwen when running an errand to Chantry Riverside for my teacher. We just talked."
Alicia said sounding confused.

He nodded, "She's quite the engineer and able field worker. And yes, I am."

"Hum...would you be willing to help me with something regarding Miss Bouchard Mr Wainwright? Ah...to explain, like with the Order of Hermes the Sons of Ether have our internal ranking system. However this ranking system discriminate heavily against those of her faction within our Tradition, favoring instead those of more scholarly groups who publish research. There are however ways around that I want to achieve a field promotion for you Cabalmate, I will offer to sponsor her for the promotion but I will require the testimony of her superior to speak before her peers about her merit. I have not mentioned this to Miss Bouchard about this yet as I do not want to embitter her to the Sons of Ether if the promotion proves not possible to achieve. I would appreciate your help though."
Dr Hadermann requested and he glanced over at you for a moment before he returned to his tasks.

He nodded, "Quite understandable - in which case the Sleeper courts will likely be the ones to decide his fate. I believe Miss Giovanni will be quite understanding of that caveat."

"Very good then."
The Etherite said and nodded.

"Yes I do know of hi...ehm her...Dr Mossley was it? She is quite skilled in he field. I might consider sending her a letter asking some questions about the serum. But no accusations can not be made against anyone without proof Mr Wainwright."

He frowned, "I do not believe she has any such allergies, though I would suggest you cross-reference with her regular medications to ensure there are no unfortunate interactions there. I am... not certain local anesthesia will be entirely effective, though, owing to another matter... You will have to double-check with her on her arrival."

"I will wait until I can do so then, I do hope a local anesthetic will be applicable though as a lumbar puncture can be quite uncomfortable unless such are applied, especially in someone with a BMI over what is recommended, which makes it far harder to place the needle perfectly."
Dr Hadermann said and frowned.
"Well I guess it will have to do in either case."

(OOC: Freddy have ben having the teatment for the primium build up regularly as she need several in order to dislodge the primium safely.)

"We all have different skills."
The young Hermetic said.
"Hum what about the training room, sounds cool."
He said and Bianca smiled and picked up the broom again.
"Well you guys have fun boys."
She said.

Serge seemed to enjoy going down the stairs much more than going up. He playfully hopped over the last two steps and turned to face Stephen. "Now it's this way!" he said pointing in the direction of the training and then walking towards it.

"You know, I think I'm gonna have to duel someone in that room tomorrow. Well...a sparring match actually."

"Sparring is often the best way to learn."
The young Flambeau agreed.
"What weapon do you favor Sir? Or are you going to use magick."
He asked.
"I enjoy sparring with my Mentor though I usually end up on my butt."

"I'm gonna be using a knife and copying my opponents knife skills. I haven't been in many sparring matches, so I don't have a favored weapon. If I were in a real sparring match I'd probably just use magick."

[Driving]

He smiled wryly, "She's visiting her cousin in Chicago, Amicus. Bit of a long drive."
"I am at Chicago visiting my sick relative."
Freddy said.
"So I do not think we have the time for me to travel by car."

'Oh! I'm sorry, it slipped my mind you'd left already."

[Westchapel]

He grinned, "My Cabalmate and second-in-command. To the extent that rank carries much significance in the larger scheme of things..."
"Well you are both higher rank than me Sir."
Alicia said and smiled.
"I can't wait to have Cabalmates of my own though, that will be so cool...ehm sorry Sir I did not mean to blabber...please come in both of you."
He smiled wryly, "As an Orphan, I must say that not everyone would agree with you on that point... but thank you for that vote of confidence, at least."

He nodded at Colin's explanation of his position and thanked her as they were let in.

He frowned a little. "I do hope she is...doing better."

He frowned deeper at that, looking troubled at the turn of the conversation.

The apprentice curtsy when you presented yourself.
"I am Alicia Fairfield bani Sons of Ether apprentice to Dr Seth Hadermann."
Se said politely.
"It is nice to meet you Mr Roth Hicks."

"Likewise."

It clicked finally who Dr Hadermann was when he saw him; the Primus. As he was mentally chiding himself for his foolishness, he glanced up at the man as he was addressed as Benjamin which he hadn't heard in a while. "Ah, yes sir I am Master Morgan's filus. I am called Adley Roth Hicks now, sir, as I have become a full member of the Order." As the man told Colin to clean up, Adley stood awkwardly trying to be out of the way and not touch anything. He was content enough to stay quiet and listen, as he had nothing to add to the conversation and the technical stuff was as esoteric to him as a cuneiform tablet was to your average person. As they discussed Nicole's field promotion he made a 'hm' sound.

"Its not a standard sparring match. Its to help me test out a new spell. One that let's me copy other people's skills. So far I've only really copied non-combat spells. This will be my first time copying combat skills." he explained making his way to the training room.

"That is a really useful spell."
Stephen said sounding suitably impressed.
"So you are going to see if you can copy your opponent's combat abilities then and then fight a sparring match with them?"
He asked.

"I'm gonna be using a knife and copying my opponents knife skills. I haven't been in many sparring matches, so I don't have a favored weapon. If I were in a real sparring match I'd probably just use magick."

"Magick is a useful weapon but there are times where one would want to avoid the Paradox."
The young mage said and smiled.
"A knife fight eh, well good luck Sir."

[Driving]

'Oh! I'm sorry, it slipped my mind you'd left already."

"No problem I do not expect you to know where I am at all times Adley."
Freddy said sounding amused.

[Westchapel]

He nodded at Colin's explanation of his position and thanked her as they were let in.

Alicia gave you a polite smile when you thanked her.

He frowned a little. "I do hope she is...doing better."

"Yes Sir, magick and time have healed most of her physical injuries but emotionally...eh forgive me it really is not my pace to speculate but it have been hard of her...the whole thing."
The apprentice Etherite said with a worried frown.

"Likewise."

Alicia smiled again at that.

It clicked finally who Dr Hadermann was when he saw him; the Primus. As he was mentally chiding himself for his foolishness, he glanced up at the man as he was addressed as Benjamin which he hadn't heard in a while. "Ah, yes sir I am Master Morgan's filus. I am called Adley Roth Hicks now, sir, as I have become a full member of the Order."

"Ah...yes off course Hermetics change their names when they are fully initiated, please do forgive my mistake Mr Roth Hicks. I do hope your Mentor is well I have not seen Master Morgan in some time, probably because I spend most of my time in my laboratory."
Dr Hadermann said in an absent minded tone of voice as he worked.

As the man told Colin to clean up, Adley stood awkwardly trying to be out of the way and not touch anything. He was content enough to stay quiet and listen, as he had nothing to add to the conversation and the technical stuff was as esoteric to him as a cuneiform tablet was to your average person. As they discussed Nicole's field promotion he made a 'hm' sound.

The old Etherite pushed a box full of individually sealed sanitary wipes over to you without saying anything. About that time though there was another knock on the door and Alicia went to open it, the apprentice soon returned with Freddy in two. The Virtual Adept gave you a smile.
"Hi Adley."
She said and she tried to sound cheerful but you could see that was an act before she went over to Colin.
"I would kiss you love, I have been tested and found to be clean but was told not to touch anyone who have not gotten themselves tested yet...though I am tempted to break that order."
She said. Dr Hadermann raised an eyebrow.
"Welcome Miss Adldebloom, please curb that impulse until Mr Wainwright have been confirmed clean as well."
He said and Freddy gave him a polite bow.
"Good day Dr Hadermann. I will try."
She said wryly.
