Anja's Post:

'Scandinavia's irrelevant. In the grand plan of things, it could be sucked into a black hole and neither the Oligarchy or Union would really care. The US is different, half-rotten ageing superpower that we are.' Nicole replied, equally as dismissively. 'And I didn't say to cause violence... only that we have to be aware that the other side may raise the stakes, make that final one throw - and to be prepared for it when it does.'

Anja's Post:

'Well then, the Oligarchy and Union has won here then. For all they have to do is point their guns at innocents and tell you to fold, and you will.'

Adley's Post:

'Perhaps we can call in to base, get someone to drive out to pick 'em up?' Nicole replied, checking out her injured leg while fishing out a packet of smokes from her jacket.

'And I didn't say to cause violence... only that we have to be aware that the other side may raise the stakes, make that final one throw - and to be prepared for it when it does.'

"You know young lady that is exactly the same argument the extreme right you so despise make when someone point out that the people of Scandinavia live well even with strong social programs and universal healthcare."
The Chorister pointed out.
"Anything could happen Miss Bouchard but some things are more likely than other things, than the right will turn to war if we get a fairer tax system and free healthcare though are on the less likely side of things."

'Well then, the Oligarchy and Union has won here then. For all they have to do is point their guns at innocents and tell you to fold, and you will.'

"This is not a situation that can be solved with violence Miss Bouchard. time and slow change for the better, social moments and a grass root movement is what will change things not violence and guns."
Hildegard said with a sigh.

"I wouldn't want to leave you all stranded without transport. Also, she still has an injury and there are vampires if we're going back to Mattapan?"

'Perhaps we can call in to base, get someone to drive out to pick 'em up?' Nicole replied, checking out her injured leg while fishing out a packet of smokes from her jacket.

"For once I agree with Miss Bouchard Mr Roth Hicks we can call for someone from Steelhaven to come pick up up, and as for your Cabalmate's leg, allot of people go around with small injuries they are not jumped by vampires left and right. If she is going after vampires in particular then making sure she is not bleeding is a point but if her affairs are unrelated to their kind then having an injury would not be dangerous though off course the wound should be washed and tended to."
Hildegard said.

Nicole you had a bite, it was not bad there where several puncture marks where the dog's teeth had gone through the skin and a little bit of tearing, the blood had mostly stopped flowing but there where a fair bit of bruising and the area was quite tender, it was not serious but yes it probably should be washed and bandaged though you would not need stitches even without magickal healing, soap and water and a clean bandage would mostly do the trick.

Anja wrote:"Yes they did a great effect with the moon and the mark was fun, there was allot of great mechanics in that game."
Shawn agreed.
"Well it have stood the test of time it is still a good game and a popular one this many years later that show how good it is."
He added.

"Have you played any of the later console games? I feel like you'd like twilight princess." Serge asked.

Anja wrote:The elderly Chorister looked at you for quite some time then she gave a sight smile.
"You are a kind child Mr Yager, perhaps to kind and to innocent for this world."
She muttered softly then she turned to Colin.
"Guard him well Mr Wainwright, let him keep that innocence for as long as he can."
Colin wrote:Colin grinned, "He really is, and everyone tells me to do that... I'll do what I can."

"Perhaps so. But I do think everyone would benefit if we acted more freely around one another. Free to ask for advice and even advise each other without being hindered by social obstructions like rank or age. I make so many stupid mistakes everyday because the younger people in the chantry just grin and bear it, too afraid to call out a person of higher rank." Serge said with a frown.

Colin wrote:Hildegard smiled a little.
"So you are the leader Mr Wainwright and Mr Roth Hicks are your Cabal's guardian, Miss Alexander and Dr Lee are healers, Mr King and Miss Bouchard build and construct what is needed, Mr Karyak sing to spirits and Mr Yager is the mascot?"
The Chorister said sounding a bit amused forgetting about Jon.
"Well I guess he to are a healer just of the mind and a reminder of the good in the world, a reminder of what we fight for.

"If we had a symbolic animal then I could fill my mascot duties properly. I'd wear a costume and break dance around the chantry to funky hip-hop music." Serge said bobbing his head to music that only he could hear.

Anja wrote:"Yes indeed so, and besides Mr Roth Hicks we will likely not be here long and when we leave for Steelhaven it might be better if we are fewer so changing locations will go easier."
Hildegard replied she was clearly concerned about the Hermetic and to get him to agree not to put such a strain on himself she glanced briefly towards Nicole as if saying that if things went like she predicted and they had to stake Shawn to bring him to Steelhaven it might be better for everyone if the Etherite was not there, making brining Nicole to her tasks something Adley could do to help, if he needed to justify leaving to himself.
Colin wrote:He nodded and arched an eyebrow to Adley, "Sound good, Amicus?"
Adley wrote:"I wouldn't want to leave you all stranded without transport. Also, she still has an injury and there are vampires if we're going back to Mattapan?"
Nicole wrote:'Perhaps we can call in to base, get someone to drive out to pick 'em up?' Nicole replied, checking out her injured leg while fishing out a packet of smokes from her jacket.

Hildegard said.

"See. We'll be fine. Besides, someone needs to go with Nicole. She can't see spirits and the app won't do much for her if the vampires hounds decide to attack her." Serge replied.

"Have you played any of the later console games? I feel like you'd like twilight princess." Serge asked.

"I have really wanted to play it but while I had a Game Cube at my parent's place I could not take it with me when I had to run after I was Embraced and Twilight Princess came out the year after that."
Shawn said regretfully.
"I only managed to bring my PSP and DS."

"Perhaps then again rank do give a bit of order. As for who you ask it is also a matter of not wasting time and resources. Let us say I need new reading glasses, which I do from time to time. I then go to a store that sell glasses and have a optician check my vision and make the prescription for a new set I do not go to an experienced eye surgeon, for while he could probably determine what strength of glasses I needed, seeking out a specialist for such a minor task would be a waste of his time which could be better spent with patients who needed his expertise."
The Chorister replied.

"If we had a symbolic animal then I could fill my mascot duties properly. I'd wear a costume and break dance around the chantry to funky hip-hop music." Serge said bobbing his head to music that only he could hear.

Hildegard gave a slight chuckle at that.
"Well now that would be quite a sight Mr Yager."

"See. We'll be fine. Besides, someone needs to go with Nicole. She can't see spirits and the app won't do much for her if the vampires hounds decide to attack her." Serge replied.

"Mr Yager do have a fair point there Mr Roth Hicks."
Hildegard agreed eager to get Adley away from the place that clearly pained him without having him loose face but rather giving him the out of going to help Nicole out with her tasks.

Nicole wrote:'Not quick enough or change enough. We don't have time to do it "nice and gentle" no more.'
Anja wrote:"If you want the world to be a better place Miss Bouchard and not worse for everyone yes we very much have the time to do it nice and gentle."
Hildegard said evenly.
Colin frowned, "The problem with trying to do it the violent way is that it would bring about quite immediate retaliation with military support. Throwing the first stone would be suicide, figuratively and literally."

Nicole wrote:'Not all. But enough that the book on them from like 1990 onwards could be titled "Cowardice, Betrayal and Surrender". From labour unions allowing them to destroy our industries for bigger CEO bonuses to them Democrats who decided to pay off the screw-ups by greedy bankers back in '07 with our credit-cards.'
He frowned, "Part of that problem is that there are two parties in the US, and right now, the Republican party is deep in the hands of Dominionists who are fundamentally unable to compromise on what they perceive as divine mandate, while the Democrats still believe compromise is a means to reach agreements. 'Cowardice, Betrayal and Surrender' would not be entirely a fitting title, as that would imply there was a wholesale self-serving and malicious intent behind their failings. 'The Blind Guiding the Deaf' might be more accurate... and splitting the two parties into five to seven parties in total might bring about a better political climate and balance..."

Nicole wrote:'You forget that the coup is when all their other tactics have failed. That the lobbyists have been cast out of Washington, the laws have been changed to protect people and not property, that big business and banks ain't getting free feeds at our expense no more. That we finally have a government for the people, not just the rich.'
Anja wrote:"Scandinavia do not seam to have had coops when they become social democracies Miss Bouchard."
The Chorister replied dismissively.
"Not everyone have the idea that violence is a solution to a political problem."
Nicole wrote:'Scandinavia's irrelevant. In the grand plan of things, it could be sucked into a black hole and neither the Oligarchy or Union would really care. The US is different, half-rotten ageing superpower that we are.' Nicole replied, equally as dismissively. The Chorister pointed out.
"Anything could happen Miss Bouchard but some things are more likely than other things, than the right will turn to war if we get a fairer tax system and free healthcare though are on the less likely side of things."
He arched an eyebrow, "Scandinavia is quite relevant as a minor player, thanks to oil, electricity and aluminium exports, for starters. Certainly, they're not big enough, even as a political bloc, to be a major player, but they're most certainly a viable proof-of-concept for the healthcare, educational, and prison system models they employ."

Nicole wrote:'No, I ain't seen that. You think I want that? Really? 'Course I don't. The thing is that I have no illusions, me - that the Oligarchy, when the chips are down they will make one final throw of the dice - with boots and guns. Their besties - the Union - will make them fight. They might even be the ones who kick it all off by organising... what's the word?... provocateurs. Perhaps by giving the likes of you a wall of corpses for CNN to scare you into surrender.'
Anja wrote:"Want? No I do not think you want piles of bodies in the streets Miss Bouchard however I think you are more than willing to see the bodies pile up if it suit your political agenda. I think you are quite willing to start a war. From the reading material you have left all around the Chantry you are quite in support of a Communist revolution and there are few things more destructive and bloody than just that, war, torture and murder all in the name of equality. Do not get me wrong I support a social democracy, the type of socialism you find several places in Europe. However when you start talking about bloody revolutions Miss Bouchard you sound more like Joseph Stalin than a peace loving European and that is the last thing this nation needs."
The elderly woman said and she looked at Nicole for a while and shook her head.
Nicole wrote:'Well then, the Oligarchy and Union has won here then. For all they have to do is point their guns at innocents and tell you to fold, and you will.'
Anja wrote:"This is not a situation that can be solved with violence Miss Bouchard. time and slow change for the better, social moments and a grass root movement is what will change things not violence and guns."
Hildegard said with a sigh.
He shook his head, "One factor you seem to ignore, Miss Bouchard, is the military men and women who would be holding said guns. I have faith that, if push comes to shove, they will largely come to defend the people, not the Oligarchy, if the Oligarchy makes that move. It will do no good for the Oligarchy to employ the military for a last-ditch attempt against the civilian population if only a few percent of the armed forces decide to follow the high and mighty against friends, family and countrymen... but if the people rise up in an arms race against the entire US military and national guard, the song of angry men will fall silent pretty quickly..."

He chuckled, starting to get out of the car once it was parked, "Well, I'd say Adley's perhaps more of the vizier or advisor role than the guardian, and Mr. Sherman is the one everyone forgets about, unfortunately, but he's very good at strategic support..."
He grinned to Serge, "Come now, Scoob, and help Shawn out of the car, would you?"

Anja wrote:The elderly woman nodded looking happy to hear that.
"My Mentor will be pleased and I will ask him to teach me the rote. I am going to spend Christmas with Master Shelly and my sisters and brother and their own students, it is time for Jane to be more familliar with her liniage, perhaps your rote will be published by then Mr Wainwright."
She replied.
He nodded, "With a little luck, it'll be printed in December, or possibly January. It should be quite approachable for just about all the basic Paradigms, too, mystic and technomantic alike. It's formally registered and properly credited to me now, so I see no reason to maintain the restrictions on sharing anymore."

Nicole wrote:'Need to make a call or two first.' Nicole replied, switching off the engine and opening the car door to get out...

Colin's Post:

'Of course. Though if history is anything to go by, it's usually them who fire the first shots.'

Colin's Post:

'There has been self-serving. You know how many of the Democrats who voted for the bailouts back in '07 had got payoffs from the banks? Anyway, it's gotta have a snappy title so it sells well.'

Anja's Post:

'No it isn't. The US, if you haven't noticed is a large, powerful country. Therefore it is important - to international capitalism, and the Union. Therefore, they will fight to keep it to the last ditch. Now Denmark is not large or powerful. That can be afforded to be lost as it's so small compared to the rest of the world.' Nicole replied, clearly annoyed, suspecting the Chorister had misinterpreted her words on purpose.

'I'll tell you another possible future. That the folk I know - who are hurting and ignored for so long - turn to fascists instead so they can hate "others" and blame them for all the problems, rather than the real culprits.'

Anja's Post:

'Hmm... didn't consider that. Why don't we all join the Union and start petitions for reform, then?' Nicole replied with a naïve brightness - showing that in the Etherites' mind 'the Union' and 'the ruling elite' were almost one and the same.

Colin's Post:

'And that's my hope. That when it gets right to the cliff-edge, them cops, soldiers and the like refuse to obey the orders from the puppeteers. Though the fact the Union would call out their muscle too to prop them up would make it more difficult...'

[Villa]

Anja's Post:

'Eh... I'll live. Shall we go in? If simply so I can do a quick patch-up with decent light.' she replied with a grunt, straightening up from doing a quick visual check.

[Hey, she'd also agree with Nicole regarding vampires. That's the thing with her; she has at least one 'good attribute' that means senior mages are willing to put up with the rest. *smirks*]

Colin frowned, "The problem with trying to do it the violent way is that it would bring about quite immediate retaliation with military support. Throwing the first stone would be suicide, figuratively and literally."

"Agreed Mr Wainwright.
Hildegard replied.

"Indeed and that is also what I meant, not that Scandinavia itself are or are not important but that they have have a solid system that while not perfect is better than what we have here here and fairer and there was no armed, bloody revolution, just slow change and a willingness to have things like universal healthcare and decent social programs and no rich elite went in guns blazes to change it."
The Chorister replied with a nod.

'No it isn't. The US, if you haven't noticed is a large, powerful country. Therefore it is important - to international capitalism, and the Union. Therefore, they will fight to keep it to the last ditch. Now Denmark is not large or powerful. That can be afforded to be lost as it's so small compared to the rest of the world.' 'I'll tell you another possible future. That the folk I know - who are hurting and ignored for so long - turn to fascists instead so they can hate "others" and blame them for all the problems, rather than the real culprits.'

"It seams to me Miss Bouchard you are trying to find a good reason why there should be armed resolution when the truth of the matter is that if you want the best for the people, what you want to do is wait and enact slow change"
Hildegard said with a shake of her head.

'Hmm... didn't consider that. Why don't we all join the Union and start petitions for reform, then?' Nicole replied with a naïve brightness - showing that in the Etherites' mind 'the Union' and 'the ruling elite' were almost one and the same.

Steel entered the elderly Chorister's voice as she replied.
"Indicate that I wish us to join the Union one more time child and I will have you up on charges for breaking the First Protocol. I have let you have your insults and tantrums in no small part because both Mr Roth Hicks and Mr Wainwright have someone who's lives and more depend on their flawless social standing withing the Traditions and having a Cabalmate sentenced for a Protocol breach while not an devastating blow it could still lessen Miss Alexander, Miss Wainwright and young Kyle's chances, so I have been patient with you but there are a limit to my patience so fair warning, that limit have come."
She said very, very evenly.

He shook his head, "One factor you seem to ignore, Miss Bouchard, is the military men and women who would be holding said guns. I have faith that, if push comes to shove, they will largely come to defend the people, not the Oligarchy, if the Oligarchy makes that move. Hildegard nodded her agreement to this.
"Agreed Mr Wainwright.

[Villa]

He chuckled, starting to get out of the car once it was parked, "Well, I'd say Adley's perhaps more of the vizier or advisor role than the guardian, and Mr. Sherman is the one everyone forgets about, unfortunately, but he's very good at strategic support..."
He grinned to Serge, "Come now, Scoob, and help Shawn out of the car, would you?"

"Hum...perhaps so...ah yes Mr Sherman indeed I do seam to often forget about the man, his aility is both a blessing and a curse is it not but yes he is a skilled man when I remember his existence."
The Chorister said with a sigh.

He nodded, "With a little luck, it'll be printed in December, or possibly January. It should be quite approachable for just about all the basic Paradigms, too, mystic and technomantic alike. It's formally registered and properly credited to me now, so I see no reason to maintain the restrictions on sharing anymore."

"Ah wonderful hopefully I can go through the material with my Mentor then Mr Wainwright I hear he had great success with with when working on the node. As for your earlier comment that the Node was not yet up to full, it takes a little time and we need to restock our stores we used up to much of our Tass reserves in the conflict with the Nephandi."
Hildegard replied.

He nodded, picking up the phone to call Morgan as soon as he got inside, "Right... I'm calling the Chief to let him know we're here, and the situation. Miss Bouchard, come along inside and let Madame Gottschalk look at your wound. Amicus... want to come inside and wait, or would you prefer to stay on guard with the car?"

"There is a first aid kit in the villa's upstairs bathroom, if you would follow me Miss Bouchard."
The elderly Chorister replied as she got out of the car.

Eh... I'll live. Shall we go in? If simply so I can do a quick patch-up with decent light.' she replied with a grunt, straightening up from doing a quick visual check.

"I will show you the upstairs bathroom, after the troubles a few months ago Dr Lee made sure we have a decent first aid kit up here."
The Chorister said and she waited to see if she was needed with anything else before heading towards the building, pausing at the door to wait for Nicole.

(OOC: Well the problem is Hildegard is a stern old lady and there is a sharp limit to her patience. She do not much like vampires though so there is that. I mean her Mentor is a cannon character who did consider becoming a vampire hunter for a while, but he stuck with being a Node Cleanser.)

Rescuing Shawn, Traitors and Bothersome Ghosts IC Thread 38 - Page 23 Empty Re: Rescuing Shawn, Traitors and Bothersome Ghosts IC Thread 38

Post by Adley Tue Aug 06, 2019 7:30 am

[Suburu, Villa]

As before, any conversation steering towards the train wreck of political conversation went without comment from Adley, at least at the moment. As well, Serge's comments about Scooby Doo, mostly as by that point he was in pain.

"Very well, if your leg is stable enough and there is someone available to come with a car. As well, if your...whatever it is that is going on, can be checked out, now."

"See. We'll be fine. Besides, someone needs to go with Nicole. She can't see spirits and the app won't do much for her if the vampires hounds decide to attack her." Serge replied.
"Mr Yager do have a fair point there Mr Roth Hicks."
Hildegard agreed
"Right... I'm calling the Chief to let him know we're here, and the situation. Miss Bouchard, come along inside and let Madame Gottschalk look at your wound. Amicus... want to come inside and wait, or would you prefer to stay on guard with the car?"
'Eh... I'll live. Shall we go in? If simply so I can do a quick patch-up with decent light.' she replied with a grunt, straightening up from doing a quick visual check.

"I do not think it would be productive if I went inside right now," he said, looking uncomfortable. "I don't particularly want to stay outside either, but that is probably wiser for the time being. I will see if I can ask my new friend here to come fetch you if something should go amiss while I wait. Also, would you mind requesting a car lift from someone that is not currently busy?" Then he addressed Colin, "Perhaps I should leave you with Shawn's notebook? There are also several things I would like to do back at home...but I do hope that this errand will be in aid of some of those, too."

"Darn, that sucks. You know, I have it on my laptop back at our fancy wizard castle. I'll let you play it if you visit our home." Serge said looking back at the villa. "Hmmm, actually, I might be able to bring my laptop here. If this place has similar properties to our castle."

Anja wrote:"Perhaps then again rank do give a bit of order.

"I suppose it varies between different situation and contexts. Still, for me personally, I'll try my hardest to make sure everyone who wants my attentions gets it, regardless of what rank I'm at. No one will be neglected." Serge said adamantly.

Colin wrote:He chuckled, starting to get out of the car once it was parked, "Well, I'd say Adley's perhaps more of the vizier or advisor role than the guardian, and Mr. Sherman is the one everyone forgets about, unfortunately, but he's very good at strategic support..."
He grinned to Serge, "Come now, Scoob, and help Shawn out of the car, would you?"

"Roh kay Mr. Rainwright." Serge said amusingly, imitating the popular cartoon dog as he slowly slid out of the car behind Colin.

He turned to Shawn and said, "Looks like we're here Shawn. You need any help getting out of the car?"

"Would you lik me to wait out here with you Mr Roth Hicks?"
Hildegard asked.
"I could come back out once I have shown Miss Bouchard the bathroom since she do not seam to need much assistance. I believe Mr Wainwright will be calling in to Steelhaven so it might be best if he request a ride home when he do so."

"Darn, that sucks. You know, I have it on my laptop back at our fancy wizard castle. I'll let you play it if you visit our home." Serge said looking back at the villa. "Hmmm, actually, I might be able to bring my laptop here. If this place has similar properties to our castle."

"I would like that Sir."
Shawn said perking up a little.
"I hear it is a good game."
Then he looked a bit confused before he asked.
"This house is like your castle Sir?"
He asked.

"I suppose it varies between different situation and contexts. Still, for me personally, I'll try my hardest to make sure everyone who wants my attentions gets it, regardless of what rank I'm at. No one will be neglected." Serge said adamantly.

"Well as I said young man you are kind."
The Chorister said kindly but it was clear she felt not everyone would be like that.

He turned to Shawn and said, "Looks like we're here Shawn. You need any help getting out of the car?"

"I think I will be fine Sir."
The vampire said, he grunted a little as he crawled out of the back of the car, his wounded arm pained him and his wrists where still chained which made it more awkward, but he got out and looked up at the villa.
"It really look like a horror movie house."
He muttered to himself.
"Ehm...sorry..sorry I am sure it is a wonderful little house...sorry."
He added quickly in case his words where taken as insulting,
"I really did not mean anything wrong with it."

A short silence before Nicole replied to this; when she did reply, it was in an uncharacteristically flat tone, like all emotion had been carefully ironed out. Whoever was sitting in the front passenger seat and looked in her direction, would see her features made it obvious that in this she felt the Chorister was wrong on this. At least it showed that while the Etherite seemingly wanted to kick against everything in sight, at least she wasn't suicidal in the choice of targets.

Anja's Post:

'Yeah, put ones in all the pool cars too, he did.' Nicole replied. 'Well, if your skills ain't needed elsewhere...' giving the Chorister a little look, clearly recalling their earlier... discussion.

[Nicole also has a "mama bear" aspect towards the less capable members of the Chantry, like the kids. And Serge. Which is a decent quality.]

[Well, it's not like "respect" means "accept as correct"... *smirks*]

"Perhaps Miss Bouchard you would like to ask them if they would prefer slow change or the better and yes things are slowly getting better, or if they would want to live in the squalor and real poverty that comes in the wake of a war, that if is they survive said war, if their families survive. Waiting for slow change is not a glorious solution Miss Bouchard it is simply better than the alternative."
Hildegard said evenly.

"I can certainly ask Dr Lee to make some first aid kits for the pool cars."
Hildegard said, she gave the Etherite and even look.
"As you wish, this way then and I will show you the bathroom, it is right up the stairs and then there is a door at the end of the hall."
She said as she entered the old house and pointed up an old wood stairs.

"You were going to help her with her injury, as I recall, and the one with the skills to do that. I assume she would be out shortly after that is taken care of?"

"According to your Cabalmate the injury is minor and I do not want to heal it magickally before it is checked for infections so I do not lock a more serious injury in place trying to help."
Hildegard said.
"So let me just show her the upstairs bathroom and I will be right back out."
She promised.

"That sounds like a plan, then." He nodded and waited for the others to disperse from the car, then took up a watchful position in the passenger side. The car was protected probably from Colin's spells and the arcane on the building but it never hurt to be alert - after all, some Nephandus had managed to get through. There was an odd symmetry, he thought of him being in the car waiting on the cabal, while adelfi was now in her Seeking and before it had been her out here. He was worried about her and wanted to go see if she was okay. Equally, he worried after Narim as well and all the shit to do with that bastard Nephandus's ghost, but he hoped this new excursion might dredge up some clues as to what to do about that. Like people do with their pets, he began to speak to Flicker. "Well, let's see what this other thing is all about soon then...won't we?"

"That sounds like a plan, then." He nodded and waited for the others to disperse from the car, then took up a watchful position in the passenger side. The car was protected probably from Colin's spells and the arcane on the building but it never hurt to be alert - after all, some Nephandus had managed to get through.

Flicker danced around you when you spoke to her, she clearly did nto understand what you where saying but she enjoyed being talked to like a small animal and she few up to rub against your cheek again while humming.

As you sat there speaking with Flicker you saw the villa's new Guardian pass by, if Colin is outside he is also going to see her. She was very tall, about two menters and impossibly thin, she was wearing white, gold trimmed robes, and had a serene woman's face, six pairs of flaming wings was attatched to the being's back and she carried a elegant, slender sword in her hand, the being's voice was open and she constantly sang.
"Glory...glory...glory..."
In Enochian. The spirit regarded Adley and Flicker for a while but then decided they should be there so she moved on, continuing her rounds, her strong, supernaturally beautiful voice being heard as she walked.
"Glory...glory...glory."

"Our castle has a special property around it that makes it easier for us to cast spells and do magick while we're inside it." Serge explained. "We've all claimed that we're mages but I don't think you've seen any of us do any visible magick. How would you like to see me pull a laptop out of a piece of paper?"

"Well that would certainly be some feat Sir but you do not have to show off for me. I just assumed you did not want the mortals to see you do magick, but you are saying in your home you can work freely Sir?"
Shawn asked.

"Relax, we've all said the same thing." Serge said with a chuckle gazing up at the villa as well. "You know, it's gonna be my first time visiting this place as well. I wonder what sorta place it is?"

"It feels...strange here, not bad but strange, and I can allmost hear someone singing in the distance."
Shawn muttered softly.
"Even so Sir I should not say something bad about your home."

"Yeah song, but I can not quite make out the tune or the words Sir."

"Young lady having a promise of a better future but a imperfect situation now is better than havng nothing. I would rather live in a lowly hut then to sleep in a burned out ruin. War have costs child, that is what you in your fanatisism seam to forget. You complain things are not perfect, and indeed it is not, but few in this nation know starvation, few have seen their relatives killed in bloody riots, in your impatience you are willing to sacrifice life, limb and sanity of others in order to attain nothing but ashes just as long as you also manage to take down those who have more than you, this do not benefit the poor, it benfit no one."
Hildegard said sternly.

[Villa]

'No, I already did, and they're done.' Nicole replied, giving a tiny shrug as she entered the building.

"Ah good all well then."
The Chorister said with a nod. You entered the villa, there was a small entrance hall, the walls where painted white, there where a open door to a living room and another to a kitchen an the stairs that would lead to the bedrooms as well as the bathroom. There was also a door which probably led to antoher bathroom, a cellar or something else of the sort. The building was old but clearly it was cared for and it was in well repair. The floor was wood, an old dresser stood there as well as a cabinet for coats and the like. A painting of the house with the apple trees sourunding it in full bloom hung on the wall.

"Even teleporting something small is really impressive Sir. I have only ever heard about highly specialised Tremere doing that."
Shawn asked.
"Do you use drawings to cast magick then Sir since you said you could teleport it from paper? That is pretty cool."

"Looks like there's a spirit around us." he said glancing at his phone, "Wonder if that's who your hearing. Anyways, we shouldn't dawdle. Let's head inside."

"A Spirit Sir? Well yes I guess that is quite possible, I have never seen such a being but sometimes get a feeling something are around, a gift from the linage that do not want me."
The young vampire replied softly he then followed you into the villa looking around nervously.
"Mr Yager if you could check the closets in the bedrooms for clean clothes for our guest, there should be some. The bedrooms are upstairs, and then once Miss Bouchard is done tending to her injury you can help the boy wash up?"
Hildegard requested.
"Thank you Ma'am."
Shawn said politely.
"I...I do not want to impose though."
He added and Hildegard smiled.
"I am sure Mr Yager will not mind child."

Anja wrote:"Well as I said young man you are kind."
The Chorister said kindly but it was clear she felt not everyone would be like that.
Colin smiled, "That's noble of you, Mr. Yager - very much so - but I'm afraid you'll find that quite a few very senior individuals, Magi and sleeper alike, are not particularly happy to be bothered with matters they consider beneath them. A fair number of Masters of the Art would not give much consideration to, say, some Initiate-rank spell when they can do things so unimaginably far beyond what an Initiate can even conceive of..."

Anja wrote:"Agreed Mr Wainwright.
Hildegard replied.
Nicole wrote:'Of course. Though if history is anything to go by, it's usually them who fire the first shots.'
He nodded, "So it is... and in a great many cases, if not a clear majority of them, that tends to break the morale of the forces of the powers that be. If the protesters shoot first, the soldiers respond to an assault, but if the soldiers fire first into the crowd... that usually doesn't pay off for them in the long run."

Nicole wrote:'There has been self-serving. You know how many of the Democrats who voted for the bailouts back in '07 had got payoffs from the banks? Anyway, it's gotta have a snappy title so it sells well.'
He nodded, "I didn't say there was no self-serving, just that I don't think that was the primary driving force behind the rather limp-wristed politics. And I think my title is quite as snappy as yours."

Anja wrote:"Indeed and that is also what I meant, not that Scandinavia itself are or are not important but that they have have a solid system that while not perfect is better than what we have here here and fairer and there was no armed, bloody revolution, just slow change and a willingness to have things like universal healthcare and decent social programs and no rich elite went in guns blazes to change it."
The Chorister replied with a nod.
Nicole wrote:'No it isn't.

Anja wrote:"It seams to me Miss Bouchard you are trying to find a good reason why there should be armed resolution when the truth of the matter is that if you want the best for the people, what you want to do is wait and enact slow change"
Hildegard said with a shake of her head.
Nicole wrote:'"Good things come to those who wait"? That's almost as bad as "you'll be rewarded in heaven".' Nicole replied. 'Seen folk who have been waiting their whole lives and barely nothing got better, and actually most things got worse. You go and tell them to wait in line patiently. Forever. Well, I've had enough. Anja wrote:"Perhaps Miss Bouchard you would like to ask them if they would prefer slow change or the better and yes things are slowly getting better, or if they would want to live in the squalor and real poverty that comes in the wake of a war, that if is they survive said war, if their families survive. Waiting for slow change is not a glorious solution Miss Bouchard it is simply better than the alternative."
Hildegard said evenly.
Nicole wrote:'Or more correctly, ask them to have the possibility of slow, positive change or to finally force the issue. Remembering that the first one is the same line they've been told since Reagan and as we speak there's fascist scum slithering around telling them that it's all them liberals fault with their affirmative action and shit.'

'When you spend thirty-plus years on promising future cake, folk get rather disbelieving when you try the same old broken promises on 'em.'
Anja wrote:"Young lady having a promise of a better future but a imperfect situation now is better than havng nothing.
He frowned, "Denmark alone doesn't have much of an impact, but the Scandinavian countries together - and is Iceland a part of that? - as a somewhat unified bloc does have some clout. And only a naïve idiot believes that good things come to those who just wait. Change requires getting of one's posterior and working. Unceasingly. Turning to force of arms is the resort of the desperate, the lazy, or the criminal. But there's why the status quo persists; once, this country could pride itself on personal initiative. That's a resource that's been dwindling with the post-WWII prosperity, though it might be finally making a comeback... I hope."

Nicole wrote:'Hmm... didn't consider that. Why don't we all join the Union and start petitions for reform, then?' Nicole replied with a naïve brightness - showing that in the Etherites' mind 'the Union' and 'the ruling elite' were almost one and the same.
Anja wrote:Steel entered the elderly Chorister's voice as she replied.
Nicole wrote:A short silence before Nicole replied to this; when she did reply, it was in an uncharacteristically flat tone, like all emotion had been carefully ironed out. 'I see - the "sit down and shut up kid" card. Okay. "I respect those of greater knowledge".' Whoever was sitting in the front passenger seat and looked in her direction, would see her features made it obvious that in this she felt the Chorister was wrong on this. At least it showed that while the Etherite seemingly wanted to kick against everything in sight, at least she wasn't suicidal in the choice of targets.
Anja wrote:The Chorister simply nodded at that her eyes was still steel though. Serge would notice that Shawn was nervous though, the argument scared him.
He frowned, the steel in his voice echoing Hildegard's, "I thank you for your discretion, Ma'am. I will have a word with Miss Bouchard about this turn of the conversation at a later date, after we've had the time to cool our heads a little, and she's had the time to reflect on how she crossed a line just now. Isn't that right, Miss Bouchard?"

Anja wrote:Hildegard nodded her agreement to this.
"Agreed Mr Wainwright.
Nicole wrote:'And that's my hope. That when it gets right to the cliff-edge, them cops, soldiers and the like refuse to obey the orders from the puppeteers. Though the fact the Union would call out their muscle too to prop them up would make it more difficult...'
He nodded, "And that's going to be a lot harder to accomplish if they're shot at first..."

[Villa]
Anja wrote:"Hum...perhaps so...ah yes Mr Sherman indeed I do seam to often forget about the man, his aility is both a blessing and a curse is it not but yes he is a skilled man when I remember his existence."
The Chorister said with a sigh.
He smiled wryly, "He's still skilled, even if we forget."

Anja wrote:"Ah wonderful hopefully I can go through the material with my Mentor then Mr Wainwright I hear he had great success with with when working on the node. As for your earlier comment that the Node was not yet up to full, it takes a little time and we need to restock our stores we used up to much of our Tass reserves in the conflict with the Nephandi."
Hildegard replied.
He nodded, "On the bright side, with that spell, we can employ far more... unstable, even corrupt Tass, for suitable purposes without channeling it through ourselves; granted, for the worst flavours of Quintessence, that would mostly be for combat and similar undesirable situations, but it remains a better option than not having Quintessence to draw on..."

Jeremy wrote:"Roh kay Mr. Rainwright." Serge said amusingly, imitating the popular cartoon dog as he slowly slid out of the car behind Colin.

He turned to Shawn and said, "Looks like we're here Shawn. You need any help getting out of the car?"
Anja wrote:"I think I will be fine Sir."
Jeremy wrote:"Relax, we've all said the same thing." Serge said with a chuckle gazing up at the villa as well. "You know, it's gonna be my first time visiting this place as well. I wonder what sorta place it is?"
He shrugged, "Eh, you're right, to be fair... Massachusetts is, after all, Lovecraft territory. And Maine is Stephen King territory. Hum, can't recall if there's a horror novelist focusing on New Hampshire... seems there ought to be..."

Anja wrote:"It feels...strange here, not bad but strange, and I can allmost hear someone singing in the distance."
Shawn muttered softly.
"Even so Sir I should not say something bad about your home."
Jeremy wrote:"Singing?" Serge said cupping his hands around his ears to see if he could hear whatever Shawn was hearing.

"I don't know about strange. But this place does radiate a certain power."
Anja wrote:You could not hear anything but Jon's app showed a very big spirit floating past, a very big one.
"Yeah song, but I can not quite make out the tune or the words Sir."
Shawn replied with a bit of a dreamy voice.
He listened, "Sounds like... Enochian. I've heard it a few times; very pleasant, pity I don't know that language. Probably the guardian of the place, I'd think; it ought to be around here."

Jeremy wrote:"Looks like there's a spirit around us." he said glancing at his phone, "Wonder if that's who your hearing. Anyways, we shouldn't dawdle. Let's head inside."
Anja wrote:"A Spirit Sir?
She said and she glanced at you.
He smiled and gave Shawn a nod.

Anja wrote:"There is a first aid kit in the villa's upstairs bathroom, if you would follow me Miss Bouchard."
The elderly Chorister replied as she got out of the car.
Nicole wrote:'Eh... I'll live. Shall we go in? If simply so I can do a quick patch-up with decent light.' she replied with a grunt, straightening up from doing a quick visual check.
Anja wrote:"I will show you the upstairs bathroom, after the troubles a few months ago Dr Lee made sure we have a decent first aid kit up here."
The Chorister said and she waited to see if she was needed with anything else before heading towards the building, pausing at the door to wait for Nicole.
Nicole wrote:'Yeah, put ones in all the pool cars too, he did.' Nicole replied. 'Well, if your skills ain't needed elsewhere...' giving the Chorister a little look, clearly recalling their earlier... discussion.
Anja wrote:"I can certainly ask Dr Lee to make some first aid kits for the pool cars."
Hildegard said, she gave the Etherite and even look.
"As you wish, this way then and I will show you the bathroom, it is right up the stairs and then there is a door at the end of the hall."
She said as she entered the old house and pointed up an old wood stairs.
Nicole wrote:'No, I already did, and they're done.' Nicole replied, giving a tiny shrug as she entered the building.
Anja wrote:"Ah good all well then."
He nodded, "Alright, see you inside in a few."

S7trif3 wrote:"I do not think it would be productive if I went inside right now," he said, looking uncomfortable.
Anja wrote:"Would you lik me to wait out here with you Mr Roth Hicks?"
Hildegard asked.
"I could come back out once I have shown Miss Bouchard the bathroom since she do not seam to need much assistance. I believe Mr Wainwright will be calling in to Steelhaven so it might be best if he request a ride home when he do so."
S7trif3 wrote:"You were going to help her with her injury, as I recall, and the one with the skills to do that. I assume she would be out shortly after that is taken care of?"
Anja wrote:"According to your Cabalmate the injury is minor and I do not want to heal it magickally before it is checked for infections so I do not lock a more serious injury in place trying to help."
Hildegard said.
"So let me just show her the upstairs bathroom and I will be right back out."
She promised.
S7trif3 wrote:"That sounds like a plan, then." He nodded and waited for the others to disperse from the car, then took up a watchful position in the passenger side.
He nodded, "Alright, I'll call your Pater, have a word with him. Want me to let him know you don't feel as perky as usual while I'm at it?"

Anja wrote:As you sat there speaking with Flicker you saw the villa's new Guardian pass by, if Colin is outside he is also going to see her.
He reflexively bowed to the guardian, even as he called Morgan, stepping through the villa door.

((OOC: Nicole might be wise to respect certain seniors the same way Colin does a certain Quaesitor: like he would a shark. He can appreciate its power, but there's no way he's willingly getting too close without some shark-proof cage or something. Razz ))

Anja's Post:

'Ah, the "be thankful for what you've got" and "things could be worse" lines. A smooth plea to not rock the boat, to continue with the old plan despite it's track history of being crap.' Nicole replied.

'Fine, continue with the old plan. Not my fault that people are sick of the same broken promises, feeling they've been betrayed and carrying old pains. And it won't be my fault either if one day when you go to tell 'em to be patient for the thousandth time and their response is to tell you to shove it and then start throwing stones.'

Colin's Post:

The Etherite gave an somewhat indignant snort at this.

[Think we can leave it at this... as the Chorister clearly is simply dodging every point, not dealing with them...]

[Villa]

Colin's Post:

'No, Rhode Island is proper Lovecraft territory.' Nicole called out, having heard Colin's comment while checking her wound.

Anja's Post:

Looking around quickly, Nicole then followed the Chorister's directions for the bathroom...

[I'm assuming Hidegard turned the lights on...]

[Nicole did avoid jumping the cliff. And she was trying to make the point that "you can't compromise with an group which wishes to squish you flat, and has no reason or desire to listen to you".]

Colin wrote:Colin smiled, "That's noble of you, Mr.

"Yeah, I think that's dumb. Just because you can do something impressive doesn't invalidate other people's skill or time. I swear, if I ever become a Master of the Art I'm never gonna be like that. Disciple, Initiate, or whatever your rank is I will always claim your spell to be the greatest thing I have ever seen. Because everyone's magick is unique and amazing and should always be appreciated." Serge grumbled.

Anja wrote:"Even teleporting something small is really impressive Sir. I have only ever heard about highly specialised Tremere doing that."
Shawn asked.
"Do you use drawings to cast magick then Sir since you said you could teleport it from paper? That is pretty cool."

"Yup, that's pretty much my bread and butter." Serge said with a nod. "I have other tricks up my sleeve but casting spells through my drawings is something I always come back to. It's what feels most natural to me. You could say drawings are sorta like my magick wand."

Anja wrote:"A Spirit Sir? Well yes I guess that is quite possible, I have never seen such a being but sometimes get a feeling something are around, a gift from the linage that do not want me."

"Nah, I don't mind. Let's go find you some clothes Shawn. A creepy old wizard house like this is bound to have some cool looking stuff." Serge said climbing up the stairs to the bedrooms and gesturing Shawn to come up and search for new clothes with him.

(OOC: You mentioned it before but I just want to confirm. Does Shawn still have chains around his wrists?)
