Re: House Rules
Aw, but Malkavians make the *best* Princes, unburdened by this pesky sanity that holds everyone back! Wink
Yeah well the problem is that while Malkavians can be done very well far to many players try and fail to make the Joker and we end up with an annoying, violent, hyper active clown.
Re: House Rules
This is true, however, when it comes to Princes, that would be the Storyteller's failure, not the players'.
Unless, y'know, it's a REALLY high-power game...

Re: House Rules
That is true but it is no better when the Storyteller make a fish Malk. But yes they can also be done good it is just I have seen so many fish malks I sort cringe when someone plan to play a Malkavian or have one as an important NPC.
Re: House Rules
Unless the rest of you disagree I propose that we use the 2 ed rule that to affect something at a distance you need Corr 2 and as requisite not to match corr with the highest Sphere used, since to me that do not make sense.
The much higher dificulty and Sphere requirements to affect something across the Gauntlent or inside of a body still apply but to just affect something at a distance should be Corr 2, and whatever you need to find someone at a distance that your own Paradigm demand.
It is up to you guys however.

Re: House Rules
I [politely] disagree - with both you and the book.
I feel that the 'Correspondence Rating' should be tied with the distance involved.
I also cite this...
Affect Distant Object/ Being: Correspondence 2+
[Mage 4th Core, page 509]

Re: House Rules
But the whole point of Corr is that distance do not matter there are no such thing it is all an illusion.
Hum yes from that quote it is the same as with 2 er. It seams the book can not quite agree with itself.

Re: House Rules
Well, the Correspondence section in that book it appears the two main 'difficulty ratings' are 'size of object' and 'familiarity of object'. So a Jedi-esque 'grab weapon from belt' could be Corr 2, a classic 'Force Pull/Push' Corr 3, a impressive 'crush building' Corr 4 and plucking a random satellite from the sky and sending it to crash into an enemy Corr 5 [along with the other needed Spheres, that is]

Re: House Rules
Size play a role, and so are how much you know something, this is where arcane connections get into the picture, so yes plucking a satellite from the sky would probably be Corr 4. However blowing it up using Forces would be Forces 3, Prime 2, Corr 2 in my mind.
Re: House Rules
I'd say Corr 5 for "satellite call", as it's an 'unfamiliar object', 'unknown location' and 'large object'. "building crush" would be at 4, for while it's unfamiliar and large, you at least know it's location.

Re: House Rules
No 5 would be to much, it is more dificulty which are affected by whatever or not something are familliar or not. With no link extremely high diff, if one can del a picture of it or the signal it sends out or some other link that will make it easier.
Re: House Rules
I'd say Corr 2 for affecting things out of sight, with extra successes for increased range.
Correspondence 3 is required for teleporting, if I recall correctly, but so long as you're only trying to reach something without moving it from A to B, all it takes is C2.

Re: House Rules
Yes I agree with that. You need 4 or 5 I do not remember which to teleport an organ out of a human body so afecting an organ at a distance would probably be more but for most things 2 Corr should let you affect things at a distance.
Re: House Rules
Yeah, taking a specific part out of a whole - whether a body organ or the DVD drive from a PC - would probably require a bit more than C2, as well as Life or Matter (whichever applies to the target bits), and perhaps a bit of appropriate Skill or Knowledge, too.

Re: House Rules
Yes Corr have a easier time teleporting things as a unit, for example it would be easier to take and entire dice set which are kept together, than one die from the set. The same with the human body, yes I would say taking someone's hear require a fair bit of Corr with a Life requisite.
Re: House Rules
I'm super ok with using just 2e ruling and using just Corr 2 to affect distant objects. Makes a bit more sense to me.
For interest sake, what correspondence level would you need to teleport something familiar to you to your pockets? Such as a small hammer or a pencil from your room? Still corr 2?

One more vote in favor then.

That is Corr 2, it let you teleport anything or open a portal up until the size of a cat. It do not say whatever they mean a little Abbysinnian or a big Maine Cone though.
Re: House Rules
Okay, I updated the document with the rough map of Steelhaven Hall and the firearms table to include the navid exchange rates, as well.
This being the document in question.
Might want to make a sticky of this link, actually...

Re: House Rules
Eh, I didn't really do more than copy a bit of text from one Homebrewery file to another - THAT one isn't really worthy of extra XP. Feels too cheap.
You've made sticky posts before, I think it's an option you have as the forum admin, you'll have to make a new thread and put the link in it, though?

Re: House Rules
I know I have but it is so long ago I forgot how to do it.
Well having things organized is useful.
