The dagger felt cool to the touch but it also felt wrong in some ways, as if it needed to be cleansed and had been used for violence. You place it into your necklace with no difficulty.

The spirit looks at you as if it do not know if it can trust you.
"You...are not with them...those that destroy..."
It asked in a voice that sounded like earth rolling down a hill.

The spirit do not seam to understand you, often spirits are not able to see the world like humans do.
"They where flowing and destructive like the autumn wind going into winder killing insects and plants."
It said fearfully.

"I do not understand your words, but they are what destroy rather than what create or preserve, where they have been what is are no more and they scare me."
The spirit said.
"They came here and the being that was here that was both flesh and like me is not here now, they hurt him."

The dark patch in the Umbra seam to be a spiritual representation of the murder or at least that is as much as you can get from it, in physical reality they are just dirt and just a sign of how uncleanly the Ratkin had been.

"Yes they came from the world more dense where the thought and ideas of those with minds and souls take on forms."
The earth spirit said as it glanced at you from where it sat on the kitchen counter.
"Everyone exist in other forms, there is no end, but he is no longer flesh...beings of destruction came and unmade that flesh he called for me but I could not stop them they where to powerful."
It lamented.

"They had two natures to, flesh and soul but not the same, and one of them where like you a human being with a spirit that are not like me inside, they hurt the one that was here and then he was no longer physical."
The Umbrood said.
"I tried to stop them but the one like you hurt me and sent me away."

"I have healed...no they are not in this location anymore, they left in a metal box with wheels."
The spirit said.
"It was the color of good granite rocks."

"No...the one who was rat and spirit and man have moved on, his spirit is at peace."

Tane:

"I am sitting here, there is destruction all around nowhere is safe."
The Umbrood said.
"They where destructive and angry they would rather scorch the earth than walk on it."
The spirit replied clearly not understanding your question, spirits generally did not think nor see the world the way human beings and other physical beings did.

There are safe places. And maybe i can protect you and vanish them so they can hurt no one else. he said, trying to get him to talk

"How can you protect me human with what I can not touch living inside? We are of different worlds, I belong in the earth among the decaying leaves, I help make them return to the soil to nourish new plants that is what I am."
The Umbrood said then it cocked it's head to the side.
"Yes stopping those that destroy from destroying more is good, that you should do."
It said approvingly.

"How can I help you find them? All space are one."
The spirit said.
"But yes I will help you if I can."

"They where there to destroy, two where like the man who lived here but different, mam, spirit and beast, they had with them a creature that once was man but are man no longer and one such as you who have inside of them one that I can not touch and who can change the world at will. They felt fearful and angry."
The Umbrood said then he seamed confused.
"What is an identity?"
It said clearly not understanding.
"There is another like you on this land, perhaps she can tell you more."

"I do not know, one was very static and firm and the other wild and dynamic, I could feel their nature but not the exact details of it."

"You are correct, that is what I am, decay to nourish new life, a continuation of the cycle, they where destruction for the case of destruction, decay gone mad...they scared me, they try to dissolve the web of creation for the nothingness beyond."

"Yes, that I can do."
The Umbrood said and jumped down from the counter, dirt littering his steps in the Umbral plane he dwelled in.
"Follow me being who can change the world at will and your amalgam of spirit and flesh friends as well."
He said and begun to walk out of the old, tired trailer.

"The names say nothing to me, they where beast, man and spirit, that is all I can tell you."
The earth spirit said now clearly irritated by all the questions you where asking that he did not understand.

"I have heard destruction, entropy, decay be called the Wyrm...the great hunter, needed but insane..."
The Umbrood said as it walked before you leading the way. Alessa nodded and came with you.
"A mage is this safe?"
She asked and put her hand on the gun in her purse. Strawberry changed her shape back into that of a small white rat again and ran under some of the trailers, you saw her now and again but she clearly felt it best to stay hidden.

"What is a mage? Your words have no meaning to me."
The Umbrood said again sounding irritated.
"She is female...I think from how I understand, she is one of those that grow small humans from the soil in her belly, and she walks barefoot in the grass, she is like you with a spirit that is not a spirit living inside of her and a will than burn like ancient fire and turn sand to glass and coal to soil."
He replied.

Tane:

You don't fear me, You didn't fear the ther two girls, you have no reasn to fear this mage. The spirit has told me he has seen a Wyrm's Mage, a Nephandus, so at least she's not one of those. If this age is not insane, it is safe, then. NO Technocrat lived in a place like this, with certainty.

Alessa nodded.
"Very well, you will pardon me for staying on my toes anyway I hope."
She grumbled.
"But yes hopefully you are right and this mage you speak of is a nice enough person."

She and i, those with theese strong spirits. That people are mages.

"I see is that so."
The spirit said as it lead you through the forest of trailers and laundery lines and then pointed at a white trailer with a small green outbuilding beside it.
"The one like you lives there."
He informed you.

After a few moments a woman came and opened the door, she was perhaps thirty or thirty five years old, you notice a kid's three wheeled bike in front of the trailer and other toys strewn about the small yard. The woman herself had on faded jeans and a white blouse with a floral print, big, coral colored plastic hoop earnings and her hair was dark blond, jaw length and sort of frilly around her pretty face.
"Good evening."
The woman said as she wiped her hands on a towel and gave you a suspicious look, it was rather late in the evening for an unannounced visit.
"Who are you two? And what do you want here at this time of night?"
She asked as she eyed you.

The woman glared at you for a while longer her blue eyes narrowing then she sigh.
"You can call me Ingrid, last names will have to wait for now, I am a member of no group, faction or Tradition and I do not want to be dragged into your wars."
She said sounding rather skeptical.
"The shifter three rows down...decent enough guy...but like I said Mr Karyak I do not want to become involved I have small children to think about."
She muttered.
"I can tell you nothing."
The Orphan added hastily.

Tane:

O, no i wouldn't dragg you nowhere, but since there are so many nephandus acting, even in your literal front yard, i though you might be interested in helping us out. He said kindly

"I did not assume you wished to drag me physically anywhere, it is a saying meaning I do not wish to get involved in the war of our kind."
Ingrid said as her eyes narrowed.
"There are many Nephandi acting? I have only noticed that something happened when the shifter was murdered, then again now that you mention it there was been a odd kind of mode over the city lately."

I understand your suspition, but we belive the assasin is one we are looking for. ANy info could help us protect the city and save lives.

The woman considered for a moment then she sigh.
"Ok...listen I do not know much, but when I noticed magick nearby I sent one of my servitor spirits to check what was going on and through it I saw this group going into the shifter's trailer, and they came back out again bloody, then they drove off in this old green van, some time later my neighbor was found dead...I did not see the murder itself I did however see the license plate of the van, I do not know if that will help you any though, the car could have been stolen or something."

Tane:

"I can give you the license plate number."
The Orphan said she fetched pen and paper from a small table beside the door and wrote it down and handed it to you.
"I did see the ground in a manner of speaking, my servitor spirit saw them so descriptions might be a little patchy but they where three men and a woman, the woman was tall and handsome with dark hair and eyes, dresses in a nice white dress, she might have been Spanish or Italian."
She said and Alessa frowned and nodded.
"Of the men there was a tall, black man in a suit, his eyes where so pale brown they seamed to be amber and he had two parallel scars running down his left cheek, then there was a thin, pale man, fairly young two I am pretty sure he was a mage, he had short, mouse brown hair and blue eyes...the last man was wrong, he looked human of sorts but his skin was yellow like parchment and his features where to sharp and his eyes where all black, he looked monstrous."
She explained.
"You can usually not look at a shifter and know what they are and I really know nothing about them save that my neighbor was one so I can not help you with that."

Ingrid nodded.
"Very well, I am glad I could help, I am not on anyone's side but the Nephandi are a blight to us all."
She muttered then she considered again before nodding.
"O...ok, you can leave your number...thank you...a spirit healer you said...Avatars? That is the thing talking to me in my head since I got these powers right?"
She asked looking a bit puzzled.

Tane:

"I have taught myself, and yes I know that if I am seen doing something impossible then bad things happen, as if reality itself fight back, so I try to stay subtle with what I do."
Ingrid said.
"I have picked up rumors here and there about the factions and the war."

Umm, you know, you really need to stay in contacto with other mages. Mind me, but these nephandi might lure you into their trap and you might not notice because maybe you got no ability in that way..

"If I stay away from other mages I will stay away from those as well, I have no interest in being involved in your war, I have two kids that I am raising on my own I have no time for warring secret societies."
Ingrid said and shook her head.
"I do well on my own."

I know of a little chantry. It's a chantry made by people that, like you, hate being part of the war and are just trying to get safe together, learn and protectr each other, no polítics, no war. I could put you in contacto with them if you want.

"A Chantry that is one of your ehm...buildings where those with magick live together right? I seriously doubt that one of those can manage to stay out of your war or your politics no matter how much they might want to do so Mr Karyak."
The woman said sounding very skeptical.

"No safe is probably completely safe Mr Karyak, but if one do not go looking for trouble there is a greater chance of staying safe than if one do. You can leave me the number and I appreciate your offer but I doubt I will call I have managed on my own this far."
The Orphan said before handing you the note pad she had used to write down the registration number on.
"But yes you can leave your own number as well and we will see."
