Colin nodded, "Simpler, slightly abstract graphics can be preferable when the scope and scale increases. Where on a personal scale you might want unique people around you, that gets a bit absurd if you're managing fleets of vessels at once, rather than a handful of soldiers. I'll admit, I don't play much strategy, myself, though I occasionally indulge in the oldest one there is... though I'm not very good at it."

"Well I generally prefer game play over graphics, fine there are some games like first person shooters where graphics matter allot, but for a strategy game, then simple graphics and good game play is preferable."
Freddy said and smiles.
"The oldest one there is?"
The Virtual Adept asks confused.
"Which one is that?"

Colin smiled wryly, "That would be Go... You might have seen it; the one with black and white stones on a grid. The rules are simpler than for Chess, but the gameplay runs far deeper. I could show you, if you like, but it's certainly not for everyone. Basically, each player places a stone, in turn, and try to surround each other to capture parts of the board. At no point may you move a placed stone, except to remove it from the board after capture. It's... tricky."

"Ahhh yes I have seen that, there is an anime about it, Hikaru no Go where you have this kid who makes friends with this ghost who is a old master in the game and they go to competitions...it is actually pretty good."
Freddy said then she sigh.
"Ehm...I guess I just revealed myself to be an even bigger geek then you first thought."
The Virtual Adept said then she nodded.
"Yeah I would not mind learning how to play, I think it could be fun."
Freddy said and scratched her head.
"It sounds a bit like Othello, I used to play that with my dad when I was little."

Colin arched an eyebrow, "Anime? Oh, yes, those, er, Japanese cartoons, right? Afraid I'm not familiar with those. I've come to understand that those aren't necessarily aimed at children, though. And no, Go is nothing like Othello... Othello is a shallow, simple game in comparison. I hear professional Go tournaments can take a couple of weeks per game; hardly a comparable level at all."
He stroked his chin, "Come to think of it, Go is one of those games I find the most challenging, simply because I know how dice will fall, what sort of card will come up next... I have no way to predict what my opponent will decide to do, so I have to rely on my own cunning and analytical skill. Rather a pain in the neck, but a good pain in the neck, if you get my meaning."

"Poor child, so no he knows how much that ritual will hurt if I can not manage to convince the Council to let me keep him, I had hoped to spare him from that knowledge." The old mage muttered.

"Well, I think he did know it hurt. But now...pater I saw Mrs Florentine." He frowned. "I did not know it, but I know her...she was at my Gauntlet, under her apprentice name. She was very skilled, she did things that I could not and had a good head for strategy. She saved me from getting shot, probably to death at one point at risk to her own life. I didn't see her after that, she was very sick from paradox. Now I know why she was worse off than anyone...you said things have turned upside down. They certainly have...or maybe I didn't realise until now I was not seeing things as they really were. But now...she....she can hardly speak, I don't know if she recognized me but she did say a few words. I don't want that to happen to Kyle, not when he's still trying so hard to do good and succeeding."

"I have never liked Mr Bergen but I do not know him well. I know he have always stirred up trouble and have at times treated our hedge wizards poorly. I will have to ask someone in his Cabal if this is out of character for him or not." Jeffry said and sigh.

"Which chantry did you say he was from? Wait, you said he was a Cultist?" he asked. "Then Mr Bergen might be at risk for targeting by the Nephandi, if he has skills in the art of Time. I may not like the man but I don't want that to happen to him." Adley swore. "Just what we need."

"Let me see, I was given two bottles, and each bottle have twelve doses, it do not take to much of it, we should be fine for a while."

"If I should take some with me then let me see the kit so I can put it together, unless you only want it administered in-house. You have any handcuffs? The regular kind?"

"Hum...yes do ask Mr Wainwright, he is a competent man and also good at defusing situations, the two of you should be able to handle Mr Bergen I think, if not then report back to me and I will take care of it myself."

"Very well, I'll go ask Narim where he is and then ask Colin right now. Though I don't want to break up his date, I'm not feeling as diplomatic as I usually do, it might be good he's there. Though Bergen already ran into Colin and had some words," he stood up and gave a short bow as he made to leave to do just that.

Colin:

Colin arched an eyebrow, "Anime? Oh, yes, those, er, Japanese cartoons, right? Afraid I'm not familiar with those. I've come to understand that those aren't necessarily aimed at children, though.

"Yeah well some of them are for children, most though are aimed at teenagers and young adults, though many can be watched by people at any age as the storylines are often quite complex...insane yes but complex."

And no, Go is nothing like Othello... Othello is a shallow, simple game in comparison. I hear professional Go tournaments can take a couple of weeks per game; hardly a comparable level at all."

"Hum...sounds challenging, though it also sounds quite interesting."
Freddy said.
"It could be a fun game to learn."

"I do get your meaning."
The Virtual Adept said and smiles.
"Though using magick to cheat in games of chance that is cheating you know."
She said and grinned.
"Or is it that you have no choice in knowing the outcome of a die roll? It just happens naturally without you consciously having to will the magick to happen?"

Adley:

"Well, I think he did know it hurt.

Jeffry sigh and nods.
"Yes I suppose he did, the boy's father did not really spare much details when telling his son why he should run if he saw Tradition mage."

"She was one of the young magi sent on your Gauntlet mission?"
Jeffry asked then he seam to concentrate on thinking back.
"Yes...yes off course I thought I had seen her before but then with a little over a hundred members of our House I thought it must have been at some Tribunal or another but you are right...she was there I remember your group as you where dropped of for the mission...poor girl, there is really not much left of her."
The old mage said and shuddered.
"No I do not want that to happen to Kyle either, and I will do what I can to avoid that, as long as he is fighting the darkness inside of him he do not deserve such a fate."
Jeffery glanced down into his coffee cup who now had stopped boiling.
"But in case I can not save the kid, I intend to make sure that his life until he is called to trial is a happy one...I can at least do that for him."
The old war mage muttered.
"Hum...you said Miss Florentine spoke to you? I do not think she have said a word to anyone else since she came here. Try to work with her Adley, we need to know what she knows about cleaning Avatars, for if she was able to do it, she is sitting on the secret to save both Miss Alexander and Kyle, and so many others as well..."
Your mentor urged.
"Getting that poor woman to share her knowledge would be invaluable, if she is at all able to."

"Well yes he is a member of the Cult of Ecstasy, but that is more or less in name only, he is a member of the Hagalaz, now the Hagalaz are to the Cult of Ecstasy what the Solificati is to the Order, technically speaking members but practicing a completely different Paradigm and really being their own Tradition just under the protection of a greater magickal order. I do not know much about them other than that they specialize in rune magick and setting magickal traps, they are war mages and considered to be...difficult to deal with by most other magi."
Your mentor explained.
"I do not even know if they share Time as their focus Sphere with the rest of the Cult of Ecstasy. Now as for Mr Bergen's former Chantry...I think it is...oh I have no idea how to pronounce this...Grønnmyra...in either way it is located in Norway and I know nothing about them save their name."

"If I should take some with me then let me see the kit so I can put it together, unless you only want it administered in-house. You have any handcuffs? The regular kind?"

Jeffry nodded and found some regular handcuffs from a cabinet as well as the serum and what else you would need from his desk and handed it to you.
"Off course, here you go."
He said.
"Give him one chance to come willingly, if not do whatever it takes to get Mr Bergen under control."

"While I am glad Mr Wainwright is getting a lady friend, right now there are things that needs to be done unfortunately so I am afraid the rest of his date will have to wait."
The old mage said.
"Good rapport back to me when you have Mr Bergen under control and bring Wainwright with you so we can deal with the next crisis."
Your mentor said dismissing you.
"Oh and Adley as always be careful."

Tane:

If you have the time, why don't you run an exam again, having this in mind? Maybe you can confirm it.

"I will probably do so once Miss Alexander feels better, if she consents to it. I do not want to disturb her Avatar now that it is in the process of healing."
Jeffry said.

I suppose he takes public transportation and goes directly to his house to check up on the werespider and coawa

You get to your house, and on a sofa you see a badly wounded woman, her skin is fairly dark but not black, she might be Spanish or Italian from her features with long, curly dark hair, a prominent nose and a face that was beautiful save for a scar down one cheek. The woman's clothes was full of dried blood and you see that Coawa have bandaged up several wounds, though blood was still seeping through the bindings and one arm just hung there limp and useless. The woman really looked like she had been through the wringer and she was clearly unconscious. Coawa sat by the woman's side he was slowly pouring a bit of water from a glass into her mouth and then gently stroking her throat to make her sallow.
"Tane welcome back."
He said and looked at you.
"She is not in a good condition, hopefully though the Formori took some hits as well during the fight."

(OOC: Sorry Tane I was sure I had copy pasted this post to your game thread, but I must have forgotten, sorry.)

Colin sighed, "If I could control it, that wouldn't be a problem, or an annoyance... but no, so long as I'm aware of a die roll, coin toss, card draw, any such localized random event, I know the outcome. There are certain limitations, of course - it won't outright help me win the lottery jackpot, or even in a bingo parlor; I can't innately tell what this week's lottery numbers will be until the moment the balls are tumbling, and even then, only if I were to be in the live studio audience. Oddly, a game like Yahtzee is nothing but a frustration for me, since I don't know the next roll before the dice are picked up, so any attempt at strategy is rather futile."
He shrugged, "In fact, the only sort of games where that trick can be used to win are commonly found in casinos - roulette, blackjack, baccarat, that sort. And those places tend to operate pretty severe blacklisting practices when someone wins too much, so that's rather a short-lived plan."

"Well I can see how that is problematic in games. However such a skill is useful as well and I am sure you an develop it to do more with it then just get the result of a die roll."
Freddy said and scraped the last bits of her dessert of her plate.
"Perhaps you can get the lottery numbers one day, though that is probably not a wise thing to do, it draw to much attention and can quickly make our Technocratic friends take notice of you, and that would be bad."

Oddly, a game like Yahtzee is nothing but a frustration for me, since I don't know the next roll before the dice are picked up, so any attempt at strategy is rather futile."

"Well Yahtzee is not the most strategic game in any event."

He shrugged, "In fact, the only sort of games where that trick can be used to win are commonly found in casinos - roulette, blackjack, baccarat, that sort. And those places tend to operate pretty severe blacklisting practices when someone wins too much, so that's rather a short-lived plan."

"And I am pretty sure the Union keep a close watch on such places for those who win to much with no obvious cheating used...drawing that kind of attention is a good way to wake up with your head showed up a HIT-Mark's metal ass."
Freddy commented.
"Bloody Technocracy they are competing with the Dox spirits at being the best at stopping us from having any fun."

Colin smiled, "Oh, I've gotten lottery numbers a few times... Never gone for the top pot, of course, but an occasional decent win, certainly. Granted, I play every week, so as to make it less conspicuous; naturally, I only use magic for it every several years, too - no need to tempt fate excessively. I should rather not draw the attention of a multi-million dollar powerball, but a five-figure sum every six or seven years is... well, safe. Intermixed with, of course, the occasional honest win over that same period of time. Nothing, I assure you, that would look statistically implausible. Just enough to make sure I stay a little ahead of schedule on the mortgage for the shop, to be honest. At this rate, I should outright own the location in about... twenty-eight months or so. For now, the bank still owes a small share."

"Well that sounds safe enough and sounds like a decent way to make a bit of money."
Freddy said and smiles.
"And it should not be to noticeable by the Technocracy."

I should rather not draw the attention of a multi-million dollar powerball, but a five-figure sum every six or seven years is... well, safe. Intermixed with, of course, the occasional honest win over that same period of time. Nothing, I assure you, that would look statistically implausible.

"That is a pretty smart plan actually."

Just enough to make sure I stay a little ahead of schedule on the mortgage for the shop, to be honest. At this rate, I should outright own the location in about... twenty-eight months or so. For now, the bank still owes a small share."

"Hum..it must be nice when you finally completely own you shop and have paid all you owe on it, then you have a good cornerstone for a decent living."
Freddy said and nodded.
"Good luck with that."

Tane:

Coawa looks up from the girl on the sofa.
"I am fine Tane, spider girl here however is not doing so hot, so if you have any idea for ho to help her that will be useful."
The wereshark said.
"Not that I much care if an Annanasi live or die, or rather I prefer i they die but this one have information we could really use."
Coawa grunted then he added in a mutter.
"Also, no matter what she is, I do not like to see a woman in such a sorry state, it just do not seam right."

You're a softy, after all. He said with a smirk in his worried and concentrated face. She needs blood. I have 3 ideas: get a stray dog to give it to it. And well, do the mess we have. Other idea is you go fishing for her, and you get her some fishes to take blood from, and the last one is to give her our blood. I dn't know if there's someone you know that would take blood from us to give it to her and don't ask questions, but i don't, so it would have to be done in a rude manner.

Colin:

Colin smiled as he finished up his last bit of pudding, "Thank you... Hm, if you're finished, what do you say we just sit down on the sofa and rest, perhaps look up a Go game on the phone? I'm fairly certain there's an app for that for most smartphones. Someone will likely come a-nagging at my door soon enough."

"Yes I am finished I do not think I could eat another bite, not if I do not want to explode."
Freddy said and gave an contented smile.
"You go sit down and I will take care of the dished and come join you. Yeah I am pretty sure such an app would not be hard to find."
The Virtual Adept said as she took your bowl and her own and rose to rins of them and put them in the dishwasher.
"One do not need to be Master Steelhaen to suspect that some will come calling for you pretty soon no."
She said as she filled to glasses with cold water and walked over to the sofa and gave Colin one of them.
"Here, I do not know about you but I get thirsty of a large meal."
She said and smiles.
"Thank you for this Colin, it was lovely."

Adley:

Adley nodded. "Yes, the word ignem, the hand gestures to make fire...she remembers something. Well, of course I will try to do so, once there is an opportunity."

"No she remembers everything, that is the cruelty of it."
Your mentor said and sigh.
"She is not like someone who have taken a blow to the head and become a vegetable, as horrible as that is for the person's loved ones, I suspect that is a a fairly peaceful existence for the victim himself. No Miss Florentine's mind is all in there, her knowledge and personality, but she is in so much anguish she have completely withdrawn from the world. She reacted to the words that meant so much to her earlier, they giving her a strong enough emotion to break out of that shell. If she was just gone it would be sad, but she is just...suffering so much she can not deal with the world around her and can not create enough motivation to walk without being nudged."
Jeffry said his voice low and sad.
"It is a terrible condition, the humane thing would have been to end it, unfortunately we need the information that little broken bird harbors."

'I see, wonderful someone expert in magicakal traps," he frowned. "Well perhaps the art of time is not so much an issue then, though first thing is to find him."

"I am not sure of Mr Bergen's magickal capabilities, I do think he is ranked as an Initiate the same as you mea filius. I doubt he will be using magick against a member of this Chantry, but you never know so be careful."

"Yes, sir. We'll need someone to guard his room too. At this rate I feel we're running a penitentiary not a chantry," he said grimly and then turned towards the door.

"Hopefully the man will come willingly, if so just put a ward on his door so we know if he leaves, if he can not be reasoned with though...yes we will need a guard, contact one of hi Cabal let them arrange a guard they will need to take some responsibility for the misdeeds of one of their own."

"Shall I tell Narim to expect you at some point to deal with his problem?" he asked before he stepped out to find the man. He hadn't been in his office, earlier so perhaps he was with the other Deacons, at chambers, or his apartment...

"Yes tell him that."
Jeffry said as you where on your way out.
"I will see you soon."

You find Narim rather quickly he in one of the hallways on the third floor speaking with Mara, well as well as anyone could speak with Mara, the woman was powerful and in her own way very wise but like most strongly fay blooded she did not seam to really be of this word. Once the rather plump Deaconess left Narim turn to you and smiles.
"Adley, what can I do for you?"

Tane:

You're a softy, after all. He said with a smirk in his worried and concentrated face.

Coawa gave a growl at that but he could not help a small smile creasing the corners of his mouth.

She needs blood. I have 3 ideas: get a stray dog to give it to it. And well, do the mess we have. Other idea is you go fishing for her, and you get her some fishes to take blood from,

"I did hear some rumors that these creatures drink blood, one more reason to dislike them then, they are more vampire than fera."
Your friend scoffed.
"I will go fishing, a stray dog we can not eat, we do not know what diseases it might have, however after we drain the fish, we can have them for dinner. My mother tells me that life is sacred and when life is taken for food, as much as possible of it should be used, or you disrespect the creature you have killed."
The wereshark said then he shrugged.
"Off course sometimes you just have to take a bite out of someone or something to know what they are as well, that just can not be helped."

and the last one is to give her our blood. I dn't know if there's someone you know that would take blood from us to give it to her and don't ask questions, but i don't, so it would have to be done in a rude manner.

"If we where going to do that it should be me, in this form I heal so you could just cut my arm with a knife, as long as it is not silver the wound will not last long. No I know no such person, I doctor I suppose you mean, I have never needed one. The problem is we do not know what effect my blood would have on her, or yours for that matter, as you are not normal either Tane."
The wereshark said as he put the glass of water away and stood up to stretch his long body.
"Finding some fish should not be hard, I had a delicious one this morning, I ate him whole."

Your mother was wise, but i think giving her the blood she needs won't dishonor it's soul. After all, it will fight the Qyrll in the end, so... he shrugged, naturally. But yours it's a great plan. That shark impulse of bite before anything was always funny. Well, not always...

Well, i mean... as i've been explained, they use the Quintessence or gnosis of life, they can't recharge it alone, it seems. I could simply pass that to her but it's weird. I think that, beings like us, should have more of that on our blood and our blood would be stronger

"I think it is more of what you need. If I where freezing I would kill an animal for it's fur even if it was an animal I would not eat, as I would be in need, but there there is another option that let all of that life be used."
Coawa said and smiles.
"Yes wise indeed."

naturally. But yours it's a great plan. That shark impulse of bite before anything was always funny. Well, not always...

"I should get some fish then? And beside the spider girl will need normal food as well I assume when she wake up and fish is delicious."

Well, i mean... as i've been explained, they use the Quintessence or gnosis of life, they can't recharge it alone, it seems. I could simply pass that to her but it's weird. I think that, beings like us, should have more of that on our blood and our blood would be stronger

"Both you and me use the same energies Tane we just have different names for it...I guess there would be far more in us than a fish. Ok we try to give her our blood, but it should be mine as your wounds do not knit together like mine and you can get sick."
Coawa said and found a bowl from the cabinet and a steel knife used to gut fish from his belt and held out his large arm.
"And if she react badly to it we can just kill her."
He said before he handed you the knife.

"No she remembers everything, that is the cruelty of it."..She reacted to the words that meant so much to her earlier, they giving her a strong enough emotion to break out of that shell. If she was just gone it would be sad, but she is just...suffering so much she can not deal with the world around her and can not create enough motivation to walk without being nudged." Jeffry said his voice low and sad. "It is a terrible condition, the humane thing would have been to end it, unfortunately we need the information that little broken bird harbors."

"She saved my life; maybe she does remember me then. I didn't want to say anything in the middle of the hallway but I will tell Mr Gregario later. At any rate, perhaps she will speak with me..." he said with a frown.

"I am not sure of Mr Bergen's magickal capabilities, I do think he is ranked as an Initiate the same as you mea filius. I doubt he will be using magick against a member of this Chantry, but you never know so be careful."

"I would have doubted he would hit Mrs Day or speak with such blatant cruelty as well."

"Hopefully the man will come willingly, if so just put a ward on his door so we know if he leaves, if he can not be reasoned with though...yes we will need a guard, contact one of hi Cabal let them arrange a guard they will need to take some responsibility for the misdeeds of one of their own."

"Very well."

Narim turn to you and smiles. "Adley, what can I do for you?"

"Pardon me for interrupting," he said, glancing around to see if anyone else was around. "But the Chief has told me you would be able to tell me where someone was currently is at the moment."

"She saved my life; maybe she does remember me then. I didn't want to say anything in the middle of the hallway but I will tell Mr Gregario later. At any rate, perhaps she will speak with me..." he said with a frown.

"I hope so as well, nothing would be better than if she would open up to you."
Jeffry said then he sigh.
"But I would not get my hopes up, she might, but...well Miss Florentine is pretty far gone."

"I would have doubted he would hit Mrs Day or speak with such blatant cruelty as well."

"A point well taken mea filius."

"Pardon me for interrupting," he said, glancing around to see if anyone else was around. "But the Chief has told me you would be able to tell me where someone was currently is at the moment."

"Oh you are not interrupting Adley. Master O'Connor and me where done talking."
The Virtual Adept said. You see one of the Akashics enter his room further down the hall, other than that there where no one around right now.
"Well yes I can but only in my own general vicinity like this Chantry unless I am going to use active magick to do so...and helping you find a Hermetic like that might not be legal, I am not sure...but yes I sort of do know where everything and everyone within a certain radius of myself are just by thinking of them, just a bit of weirdness that comes with my magick I guess."
Narim said.
"Do you need help in finding someone?"

While Freddy put the dishes in the washer, Colin pulled up a very basic Go app on his phone; one without an AI player or internet play, just the basic board and rules. He accepted the glass of water with a grin, "True, that's not a matter of temporal magic, just a matter of understanding that what one does will have consequences. And then making a good guess at what shape those consequences will take. Now, would you kindly sit beside me and look at this; here's the game board, 19 by 19 lines, and the players - black first - take turns placing stones on the intersections, like this..."
He went through a series of basic plays, captures, explaining and showing the basic concepts of the game.

Freddy sat down in the sofa next to you.
"Yes, well all action do have consequences, and often far reaching ones."
She muttered as she leaned over to look at the app on your phone.
"Guessing what a consequence will be however is often not the most easy and it is here magick can be most useful."
The Virtual Adept commented, then she was silent as you explained the game to her, looking at the screen and nodding.
"Hum...I see, it can get quite complicated, but do seam like fun."
The young woman said after a while.

Colin gave a sad smile, "Yes, far-reaching... over twenty years, through life and death and rebirth, it would seem..."
Pointing at the game, "As for Go, the rules themselves are simple, but the game, well, they say it encompasses the universe; that there are more combinations than stars in the sky. I'm inclined to believe that."

"You are thinking about Beatrice's reincarnation?"
Freddy said noting your sad smile.
"We will just have to keep her alive."
The Virtual Adept said.

Freddy looked at the app.
"Hum...a game that it is easy to get started with but hard to master hum...those are the bast kind."
The young technomancer said.
"I guess it is unlikely we will have time to play a game before the Chief call you to a meeting eh Colin?"
Freddy said with a bit of a smirk.
"You are a popular man love."
