Our laws seem to come out of fear and have little compasión. There would be no problem in keeping them in an induced comma to let me study this, but i belive there is no willingness in saving fellow mages now

"The laws are often based on fear, but also in practicality. Keeping someone in an induced coma requires specialized medical expertise unless you are going to risk the prisoner dying, so no you can not have bunch of Nephandi on ice until you might be able to find some way to help them. Your only possible chance is to find some mitigating circumstance and have a very good advocate and you might be able to save one or two, though the chances are not good."

Mitigating circumstances like having been forced into doing anything they did, not showing signs of a complete conversion and being part of the traditions? or like being born a witterslaint?

"Ah...well I am afraid those will not help much. Mitigating circumstances like being useful to the Traditions are more likely. Many have been forced and tricked to join the Nephandi and those few that have stood trial as Nephandi, such circumstances have not helped much. Having a powerful Chantry and Mentor backing a widderslainte though have gotten a few of those born Fallen of the hook though, when they are either to useful to get rid of...or as in the case of Master Senex's student who was the first to be let go and as such was the one where precedence was set, she was to much trouble to take down since Master Senex and his Chantry would protect her and one do not just waltz up to the gates of Cerberus and take one of their own."
George said as he looked at you.

"Certainly Master Senex is the Deacon Primus of an extremely powerful Euthanatoi Chantry called Cerberus. His young apprentice Amanda was charged with being a widderslainte, but due to Senex refusing to give her up mercy was shown and she was given to her Mentor to keep in line. This set the precedent that allowed for those widderslainte with very powerful teachers to at times be given mercy, as have been done with Beatrice Alexander, however unless the one you wish to protect is widderslainte with a powerful teacher I doubt this will help you much Mr Karyak."
George said as he regarded the young Dreamspeaker.
"I am afraid I can not give you much information without knowing more about the specific case you are involved in."

(Have I missed a post from you? It is ok if you have been busy no problem at all but I just wanted to check that you are not waiting for some reply from me and are being to polite to nag.)

There aren't many details: a girl from the celestial chorus named Cadence was offered the chance to go through the Cauls to save her mentor from gilgul, and she did, but she never truly surrendered because she didn't want to give up her avatar to corrupción and i think she's the victim, so gilgul would be unfair viven how close we are to finding some kind of treatment for it.

"I know Miss Getwater and also know her Mentor, but the old lady is safe is she not did the Nephandi threaten her in any way?"
George asked looking a bit confused.
"Well it would not be the first time they did something like that. I can have a talk with the prisoner but the laws are the laws, and until a method to clean Fallen souls are found Mr Karyak I do not see them changing and since no such method have ever been found before I doubt you will be able to get many to believe that one is right around the corner either."

In a couple of months, maybe a year from now, if the thing goles well with Miss Florentine then maybe she can be cleansed, or onE of the many methods i've mentioned could work. If we ser this precedent we could Take back nephandis and some of our people and that'd be a huge setback for nephandi's plans.

"It would be a boon for us and a huge set back for the Nephandi if such a method was found young man, but there is allot of if in there and ifs are not something a Tribunal are likely to listen very much to. You might be able to delay things with a good advocate if you try to jump through every legal hoop but even that will not give you very long."

"Well it depends what the risks are. I doubt they would let you try something that could get a Nephandus killed, not without very good indication that it would work and you do not have that. If there is not a great risk to the prisoner's life though they might let you attempt that ritual."

"No there is nothing further...I am afraid I do not have that much to add in this case your options are limited young man, however I can give you the number to one of my students, he is a good advocate and might be able to advice you further."
The old mage said and reached out of a pad of paper and scribbled down a phone number that he handed to you.
"There is little else I can do for you than this, though I do wish you good luck with it, though I do not think you are likely to be able to save any Nephandus we have in captivity at the moment..."

"I am sure I will be able to find it Mr Karyak, if nothing else then Master Morgan have your contact information, have a good morning."
George said as you left.

You left the Deacon Primus' apartment and went down the hall to call the lawyer he ha recommended. It was four thirty in the morning so when the man finally answered he sounded rather tired as you had probably woken him up.
"Ehm yes...hello?"

Hello and sorry it's so late. I have been given your number by master Steelhaven. I'm in need of a lawyer with certain urgency.

"I see...that is alright ehm...just let me dress and I will head over...are you at Steelhaven Hall then? Ah forgive me I did not catch your name."

"Who should I ask for when I get there?"

"Ehm...yes just give my name to the Mercere you send the papers with Mr Karyak, they know who I am and the Chantry I reside on."
The Quesitor said as he suppressed a yawn.
"There will probably be a few hours before any of the Red Caps are up though, but someone of your Chantry should know how to get a hold of one if it is urgent...I can also come by in the morning, my Mentor do live at Steelhaven and I have been meaning to visit him."
He offered and yawned again.

"Tane Karyak...got it, I will be there in the morning...yes I will see you then Mr Karyak and I can get an overview over what you are needing my help for and we will have to see what I can do...well then...have a good morning."

"Unless there where anything further?"

"That is quite alright...I understand."
The Enforcer said politely though he still sounded just a bit like he would have wanted a few hours more sleep.

Cita did not have a real work area but she was usually with one of her patients, you find her on her way out of Tobias' room she give you as smile as she carefully closed the door.
"Mr Karyak hello..."

"I am well, thank you I hope the same go for you."

"Checking up on my patients, their need for care do not care what time to day it is."

"Well Tobias and Bee's conditions are mostly unchanged, Beatrice's Avatar is slowly recovering but I am worried about her physical health...Tobias is doing well for how bad a condition he is in. As for the elderly Etherite you helped rescue he is slowly recovering, he will need rest but he is out of any danger."
Cita said then she sigh and nodded.
"I did get some sleep when you watched over Beatrice earlier and a little now and again, but with two of my patients needing allot of care there have not been allot of sleep, but do not worry about me, I am fine Mr Karyak."
She said and gave you a tired smile.

Cita give you a slight smile.
"You are to kind with your words Mr Karyak."
She said softly then she nodded.
"Yes we can, do you want to come to my apartment and sit down or talk here out in the corridor? What can I do for you?"

Tane:

Cita looked at you for a moment then she sigh.
"Saving a Nephandus, now that is not an easy task Mr Karyak."
She warned.
"I do not have many ideas there is not much wriggle room in Tradition law to spare the Fallen. I can try to examine her Avatar, give testimony on what I find. I am not sure how well that will go though...unless you have some proof you can keep her from harming the Tradition and some plan to save her I am not sure you can win this one kid."
She muttered.

She's gone through the Cauls to save her mentor of being gilguled, and worked for them in a state of abuse and slavery. That has to be worth something for her liberation.

"It might get her sympathy Mr Karyak, there is a chance she will not be expelled from her Tradition before the rite is administered but if her Avatar is Fallen then the reason why it got that way seldom matter, do remember that the Traditions search for widderslainte children who have done no crime but being born and Gilgul them, and while I do not agree with that, I am not going to be a judge in the woman's trial.

Also, she has accepted to remain calm and is not causing problem. Even if she were, the induced coma is always an option. he said, trying to logic through it Being so close to finding ways to cleanse an avatar, gilguling a person that's been victimized doesn't feel right. I belive she can be saved: she hasn't surrendered yet, she went through the Cauls but her mind is not corrupted. I want to give this a shot.

"If it where up to me Mr Karyak I would not mind you trying to find a way to cleanse this woman if you could do so in a way that did not put her life in danger so she do not die and then cause another widderslainte to be born. However I doubt the Council will listen to that unless you can provide them with hard evidence that you are on the brink of a break through."
The spirit healer said and sigh.
"Ok start by telling me how you plan to try to cleanse this woman's Avatar and why you think it would work."
She suggested.

I understand that's one of the ttrocities we do because we might not know of any other way out and because we are affraid of losing who we love, but, here's the thing: we are axploring several ways out. First off, we have found the conection between Master Nasa's avatar and miss Florentine and we were thinking on helping them unite. Once that is done, miss Florentine can tell us how she cleansed herself and that can be tried.

Cita sigh and shook her head.
"Well for a long time there where no other way to deal with the Fallen and it is not like no one ever tried Mr Karyak, the problem is that now one ever found a way it could be done. Now I have proof Miss Florentine managed to cleanse herself since I have the before and after scans, however since that heavily implicate wrongdoing..."
She cast a nervous glance around to see if anyone where listening.
"Of two of the Primi presenting that evidence at this time will be quite dangerous and likely to be blocked. If we manage to help Miss Florentine she might be able to tell us yes, but that can take some time, remember Tane...the girl is traumatized, if the cause of...her despair if repaired then she will most likely get better with time and care but not instantaneously...it is not likely to be in time to give an option to anyone captured at this time...perhaps it can safe Jeffry...I mean Chief Morgan's new student but even that is unlikely a mind that damaged, it will need a long time to recover."

If not, there's this ritual the Fera have that does what we need to do (this is, converts the spirits to their original natural order) and even if this is not so,

"Well in this case you would need the following, eye witness accounts of this ritual working, I assume the fera, and are also assuming you by that mean wear beings, a type of creature I know nothing about but in either case you have to talk a few of them into letting mages examine them spiritually to see how similar their natures are to ours to see if a ritual that works for one will work on the other, if you can gather this and the evidence show there is a strong likelihood of working then the Council might listen to that, but just claiming to them that well were creatures have this ritual is not enough there have to be presented some evidence that it will work as well."

there's the evidence of Bae cleaning herself, ever so slowly. We need to try to help her and try if it can be done to others, wich means we need test subjects, people that want redemption, that are asking for help and that we can relate to: she makes a perfect fit.

"Well Beatrice have some...special circumstances to her case and if there is a small part of her that is not corrupted then I have no idea how to transfer that to someone else so I would not be in need of test subjects at the moment. And observation have been made, but we have no hypothesis or theory as to it's function we are far away from entering any testing stage. If Beatrice was well I could examine her soul more closely but as it is any undue manipulation of her Avatar will just cause her and it pain and distress and the Council is not likely to wait to ehm...deal with a prisoner until Miss Alexander recovers enough for me to fully examine her Avatar and perhaps figure out how and why that uncorrupted part is there and then perhaps, and I do stress that word here Mr Karyak, perhaps, eventually come up with a theory as to how this could be applied to others, that will likely take years, decades at best..."

I understand that all is complicated, but if we appeal to the heads of the traditions then they can do nothing against us, not if the most powerful mages help us with a minimal deal of discretion and let us do this process. It can take time, but if we help this girl to don't get worse, then... well, at least she could wait.

Cita sigh and shook her head.
"The heads of the Traditions are the ones who will be sentencing her Tane, sure you can appeal before them but I can tell you now that appeal will be thrown out. You do not have a process yet just a few leads and hope and that will not be enough, the Council of Nine will not listen, the only way you could possibly get them to consider trying an alternative is if you can present credible research, for example if you manage to get witnesses among the werecreatures about how this ritual of them work and that it works, and then have them examined by mages to determine if the same spiritual cures could work on one of us, it have to be detailed and you have to present a pretty good case then perhaps there is a chance, no certainty min you but perhaps a chance, other than that the only thing you can do for this girl is to try to keep her comfortable until her trial and...what comes after."
She muttered sadly.

I any case, someone that is in this state because of her will to help and protect should not find her more intimate parts threatened without comprehension or even the will to help her.

"Perhaps not, but our laws are rather sticks and for now they are our laws and there is little that can be done about that, and if this woman is Fallen and she was with the Nephandi then she is a danger and killing her will only result in a widderslainte. This is the horror of the Nephandi Mr Wainwright, they force us to do something tragic to prevent an even grater tragedy later."

Cita looked at you for a moment and sigh.
"Your only hope is to try to gather that material from the wereceatures, you will need witness testimonies, someone willing to be examined to determine how similar they are spiritually to us and detailed information about how and why their ritual works."
She advised.
"If you can get that Mr Karyak then there is a chance, not a good one but a chance. There is nothing else I can think of that can save a Nephandus, and even that will only give the girl a chance if the data completely agree with your claim."

Then i better get to work, right? Tane said, trying to hide his worry and unease behind his reassuring smile.

"Yes you should, you do not have much time. I wish I could help but I do not know much about shapechangers."

He was checking up in the situation with the Nephandi girl he captured and he was going to check in with home to make sure the changers where alright after they had dealt with the parts from the slain Nephandi. He also had heard about one of the other Chantries Westchapel having a Kitsune librarian and had asked Henrietta to set up a meeting with her for him. There are shards of Fallen Avatars found in a parking lot in Mattapan and there are speculation that they might be used as a weapon, And then the wererat Strawberry was investigating who killed her mage friend and Tane was helping here. The Ananasi Alessa was looking for her sister who where serving the Wyrm with the intent of killing her and Tane had found a confused Rokea girl who spoke of the spirits that where supposed to guide her having been killed.)
