As for catchign up, not that much have happened, a bunch of things to be teleported out have been collected in the main basement hub room, including the servers. Lilyandra have also been placed there. The vampire's personal computer have been found and Jon ahve been sent to have a look at it. Some of Ellie's things have been found and Serge and Colin ahve gone to check on her and Big Chris and have encoutered a strage man. The Chief have packed down Lilyandra's library.

So uf Nicole dealt with the safe in the bedroom and helping to carry thigs we should nto be so much of track here.

I have been GMing D&D today and not had the time to rpely to you but I made a poitn for Nicole to jump back into things if you want.

I'm a little less stressed now, so shall explain. I've been hired/persuaded/browbeaten/tricked to help an older relative move. Problems; #1 it's a 'downsize' move, #2 they're a hoarder and #3 they have rental storage which they have to clear too. Worse, some 90% of the hoard isn't rubbish, so a 'skip and shovel solution' isn't viable. Basically, we're having to fight them all down the line; sort through a box of stuff, fillet out the few items which are worth a few quid (found a bit of 9 carat gold today) or they'd like to keep, convince them the bulk isn't worth trying to sell, find a way to offload the previous in a way which doesn't trigger them and then finally, to allow the final residue to go to the dump.

So I'm not the most chirpy right now. Almost miss the day in the metal-roofed garage in a heatwave.

I plan to read through the whole thing tonight, hopefully get a reply up either tonight or tomorrow morning. Depending mainly on how much beer gets consumed tonight...

Well it is really good of you to help one of your relatives move. It do sound rather stressful though. I completely understand you being stressed and take your time the forum is in no hurry be sure not to tire yourself out completely.

Well, I'm getting paid for it, though 'mates rates' level (they saw fit to enlist someone with some experience of this kind of thing). Though with the benefit of hindsight, I'd have pleaded being 'too busy' (distant enough relative I could have got away from this).

I think the hardest part is convincing that their stuff is effectively worthless. No, nobody wants your tons of objet d'tacky, shabby shit or general boomer crap (we've not even got to the stage of tackling the furniture yet). Don't know about Norway, but in the last decade in the UK the market for such stuff has collapsed (cousin thinks it's due to the millions of older Brits all doing what we are now, and so over-filling the market).

I personally think this is punishment for getting out of dealing with my parent's tons of crap when they died.

Yeah I think it is a combination of allot of pepole getting to the age where they down size at the same time and also furniture is cheaper, I mean it is not good for the environment but things are more use and toss now so few will be willing to pay much for used furniture when they can get new furniture fairly cheaply. My grandparents got a bit of money for their wedding in their 20's and they bought furniture for it, they still had that furniture when they died at 80. Few I know have furniture older than 10 years old today.

Think tastes in furniture and lifestyle choices have their parts to play; it's difficult to live with 'heavy, brown, traditional' furniture (esp if it takes up acres of space) and who the hell wants a formal china service for 14 which you can't even put in the dishwasher? (or to store the stuff when not in use?). I do see some younger people going for older stuff, just being choosy in what (which I don't blame them). Issue is, a lot of the above were mass produced, average in quality and dull in design - and who wants to hear 'their heirlooms' are that?
