Serge's Post:

'An interrogation in the room would be just the questions they can think of right now. Taking the target in means you can question again later on. But, the thing which really don't add up is the fact they hit this one. We got this lead from the slave's cell... a source the Union didn't have. It could be chance... but sending in eight Mirrorshades? It doesn't add up.'

"They were pretty diverse ethnically. Priority was vampire but seem to expect interference from us. Had no clue what any of our abilities were." Serge said listing off things seemingly at random. "That's what I got to after a bit of thought. Did you notice anything in particular?"

"The Union do not discriminate they take in those with a Scientific, with a big S mind not really care what ethnic group they are from."
Bruce said.
"But yeah it seams they where after the vampire still eight agents to take down one vampire during the day that is overkill, they expected trouble."

'One; they knew target's location. Two; they shut down the elevator before they'd even got to the apartment. Three; they did not come with any kit to transport vampires or similar.' Nicole rattled off in a matter-of-fact manner, continuing to drive.

"Ehm I shut down the elevator before we went into the vampire's apartment because you asked me to, but yeah they seamed rather organized and it seams they expeced more trouble than just one vampire."
Bruce agreed.

"I think she means when we where on our way down Mr King."
Antonio said and Bruce grunted.
"Ah yes...they did do that but that probably was them trying to stop us."

"Didn't they shut down the elevator because the were trying to stop us? They likely wanted to stop us because they figured we already had the vampire on hand." Serge replied. "You do make good points though. With Union resources I'm pretty sure knowing the vampires location wasn't too difficult. But they didn't seem to keen on kidnapping the vampire. Maybe they just wanted to interrogate her in her room?"

"Why would they want to interrogate a vampire in her room where she know the location and they do not, in the middle of the day when she will be sluggish and hard to talk with Mr Yager. I mean we might try to wake Miss Milliner when we get back to the Chantry and try to get something out of her now but chances are we are going to have to wait until nightfall."
Helena asked and she raised an eyebrow.

Glancing over at Jon, Serge said "Hey Jon. Do you think you could show me the video clips with the 8 Union members? From the time they entered the cameras field of vision to now. Seeing their thought process as they move through the apartment building would be interesting to see."

"Yes certainly."
Jo said and he handed you his phone. You saw two black cars drive into the parking lot, the eight Technocrat exited their cars, a few of them had tablets out that they checked and a tall, thin man who seamed to be the leader pointed to the entrance to the main part of the building and the eight headed in.

One I already answered - might have been on a file or something. Two is one big assumption - unless they had a vamp scanner or something. Three is the biggest worry.'

"I can cast a spell to look for Massassa, and Mr Sharman have his app, it is a fair assumption that the Union can do the same."
Helena said with a sigh.

Before you do that, wipe camera records and destroy the burner's SIM.'

"That is already done."
Jon replied.

"They probably do have a vamp scanner. Can't be hard to create something that detects walking dead bodies." Serge replied. "Why is interrogating her in her room such a big worry?"

"Also interrogating an enemy in an area where they have control and not you is never a good idea, to the Union Miss Milliner is just another Deviant, they would have no reason not to take her in."
Helena commented.

"Maybe their hitting multiple targets at the same time? We just so happen to meet up with the group that got assigned to this one." Serge suggested. "Probably got a whole list of 'people of interest' in that Union database of theirs from their own sources. 8 does seem excessive though....maybe their not taking any chances with the gravity of the situation?"

'Which is why I say there is a chance of this simply being random luck. But that don't have that high odds. Perhaps we were picked up by a Union scout or something?'

"They could have gone some of the same routes of information as us, the way I understand it we got this address from Master Sharaya after he examined who the slave had called to and then cross referenced that with phnes which was left alone during the day and then we got extra information interrogating this slave, the Union could have examined the phone signals as well, it is possible they knew we where hitting this place but it could also be that they are looking into the same leads that we have..."
Jon said.
"But if they are going after our targets perhaps that means we should pick up speed in getting the rest of them, just in case."

[Steelhaven cooridoor]

You got to the Security Office, unesxpectantly you saw Uncle Willard on his way in...through the wall as you got there, the spirit moving with some speed. There was a flutter of feathers, the sound of armor and a slight smell of cardemon as the spirit passed by you as usual.

Seeing Willard rush /anywhere/ nevermind /running/ was alarming - they'd had a lot of problems and he'd still only seen him march, even if it was a fast march. He was heading to the Security office, to get his pater which meant there was something very badly wrong. "I'll go try to stop it," he said as he passed him, so his pater would know he was out there. If he had to guess it was something with the prisoner, but he didn't know and was on guard for anything. Quickly but with caution he headed int he direction he saw Willard come from, trying to see what the hell was going on now.

Serge watched the video footage closely, switching over to the camera (or asking Jon to do so if he didn't know how) that showed them inside the lobby. He wanted to see how long it took the group to notice something was amiss and dash towards the stairs. How long did they stand in front of the elevator. Did they even go for the elevator?

You found out how to change between camera footage, you saw the group of Technocrats rush to the elevator, the leader pressed the button but then noticed a small light indicating it was not working and then pointed to the stairs and the eight of them went running for it.

"She's slow and sluggish meaning her ability to resist their questions goes down." Serge said with a shrug. "They might not even want the vampire. They might've wanted to talk Alexis first."

"Even if it was the ghoul they wanted to talk to, there are only disadvantages and nothing to gain from not taking her in and interrogating her safely on their on turf."
Helena said simply.
"And by sluggish I mean they might not be able to make any sense of her replies. It have no tactical value not to take her in."

"But they didn't bring any tools to take her in. From the video they only seemed to have tablets on them. They would need something to make her immune or hider her from the sun at least." Serge replied.

"I have seen Master Sharaya store just about anything as data on his phone, it is quite possible these Technocrats can do the same."
The Hermetic said and Antonio nodded.
"That makes more sense Mr Yager than interrogating an enemy in their own home where they might have hidden weapons, have hidden ways to call for help and you are constantly pressed for time, either these Technocrats where after us or they where after taking the vampire and or her servant in."

"Possible. And slightly worrying cause they might've seen our faces." Serge said with a nod.

"Yes...worrying indeed."
Helena said.
"But there is little we can do about that for now."

[Steelhaven Corridor]

Seeing Willard rush /anywhere/ nevermind /running/ was alarming - they'd had a lot of problems and he'd still only seen him march, even if it was a fast march. He was heading to the Security office, to get his pater which meant there was something very badly wrong. "I'll go try to stop it," he said as he passed him, so his pater would know he was out there. If he had to guess it was something with the prisoner, but he didn't know and was on guard for anything. Quickly but with caution he headed int he direction he saw Willard come from, trying to see what the hell was going on now.

The angle gave a slight bow of acknowledgement when you passed him as he went into the security office at some speed. He had come from the common room. Once you got there you found it empty, which was not unusual it was a busy day and everyone where doing something and it was between mealtimes, what was unusual though was the frayed nature of you and your Mentor's wards, the one you cast on the Chantry every few months, a strong, powerful ward but now something was wearing on it from the outside, it was still holding but it was fraying like fabric being grind against stone, something was trying to get in, was very eager to get in.

You heard your Mentor's running footsteps behind you.
"Uncle Willard told me...shit!"
The old mage commented but his hands where already working on some spell.
"Adley please check in one of the windows if you can see something outside but be careful!"
He ordered.

'Unlikely. Chances are they're following the same plan as us: to snatch Giovannis until one of them tells us who ordered the plague.'

"It is impossible to say exactly how they found the Milliner girl unless we ask the Union men themselves."
Antonio said.
"They could have information we do not have which have lead them here, or they might be looking for Giovanni and cross referenced that with phones not used during the day or some other means, the important thing is that they found Miss Milliner not how right now."

"That I fear as well."
Helena said.

You drove though the streets taking a scenic route, you did notice a green Mercedes which you saw far to often, it was a dark green, not standing out much but you still noticed it, keeping some distance behind your truck but clearly following it. Jon had noticed it as well and he glanced at the rear view mirrors.
"We have a tail..."
The Virtual Adept announced.

Noting that the wards were /again/ being eroded away, he scowled - these were hardly cotton candy, thrown together in a moment wards, they were solid, monthly refreshed, recently renewed wards and yet again someone was banging on them to get in, again! His pater was on his heels and directed him to try to figure out their point of entry; he moved cautiously to see what someone was sending this time. It wasn't bound to be Girlscouts offering cookies, so he was ready to fight it off if he had to do so.

Outside everything looked normal, other than for a black bird sitting on a street light looking intently at the Chantry. It was a beautiful bird, a black kaka, once it would have been an exotic and quite expensive pet but there was a glow around it, this was a familiar, and from it's desperation in which it went at the wards it was both powerful and angry and it was clearly trying to get back to it's master, chances was this was Eric Dahl's familiar, come to try to free her bounded.

He'd been expecting something, certainly but not a parrot. It was a big one too, and angry and attacking the wards so ferociously that he was not surprised to see the glow around it. Willard's reaction had been urgent enough to tell him that whatever was housed inside the bird, it was a lot worse than it appeared to a casual glance. There were few reasons a familiar would do such a thing as a kamikaze raid on a ward, but one was that its bondmate was on the other side and another was it was powerful enough to get through. "Dahl's familiar is outside, and it's pissed off and trying to get in to him. Its powerful," he reported quickly, so they could figure out what to do and fast. The way the thing was pecking, gnawing and clawing, the wards were not going to last it out forever.

'Sure. Just don't take too long - before backup arrives. This thing handles only a bit better than a shopping carriage.' continuing down the side-streets to give Jon time.

"I am working as fast as I can."
Jon said and he tapped at his phone furiously as you drove, the green car continued to follow though.

"So its about what we expected. The moment they saw the elevator wasn't working they suspected foul play." Serge muttered to himself. He then fast forwarded the video to the moment when the technocrats broke the barrier on the top floor to see what exactly they did.

"That is indeed what we expected."
Helena said. You saw that the eight Technocrats broke through Bruce's barrier and they rushed towards Vera's apartment but then one of them noticed the elevator was running, the leader pointed out four of them and sent them running down the stairs while one of the women started tapping at her phone clearly trying to take control of the elevator.

"Alright alright. I get it. I'm wrong." Serge said with a sigh.

Antonio just nodded at that.

Serge looked curiously behind them at the car tailing them, not looking to worried as Jon worked his own magick. "Wouldn't be surprised if Union cars are magick proof. Let me know if something goes wrong. I got my own tricks."

"I am not using magick to do this right now."
Jon said.

'Folk forget just how much of autos these days contain electricals and computers.' Nicole replied. 'Plus, they usually expect to be attacked by "mystical shit" - not having Science being shoved back at 'em.' ending with a little grin.

"Yeah they might have some firewalls for they might have used some sort of program to protect their car but I am thinking we just try to hack their car right now...hum...ah yes here we go..."
The Virtual Adept said and grinned he made one final tap at his phone and the green car just slowed down to a crawl, letting Nicole easily drive away from it.
"There though chances are they can fix it once they realize what is going on."

[quote]["Honestly, until you said it a minute ago I didn't know that cars even had computers that you could hack. Let alone being able to turn the engine off using them." Serge said with a grin. "Pretty sure the Union science-proofs there gear though."/quote]

"Science is science but yes I did nto actually know it myself before Nicole told me, I know modern cars have GPS and such but just how much electronic harware is there...chances are they will get it fixed and be on their way after us soon, if I can hack their can they can hack it and get it running properly again."
The Virtual Adept said.
"We should use whatever time this bought wisely."

[Steelhaven]

Your Mentor took in the information in one go and nodded.
"That makes sense, mea filius please go get Master Nassa or Master Haagen or Deaconess O'Conner and whoever else you find along the way, bring them outside and try to capture the creature, preferably alive, we can not offer Dahl much to make him talk but the well being of his familliar is a barening chip, however if you can not safely capture it alive then kill it, I will keep the wards intact in the meantime and make sure it do not get though. Know that this is a powerful creature so be careful...go now hurry!"
As usual when giving orders to his fellow Hermetics the old Flambeau had sifted to Latin. Once he had spoken he continued working on perserving the wards his hands moving firmly as he muttered words of power.

Anja's Post:

'I think that's a program you're gonna save for later, no?' Nicole replied, taking the first turning away from the Mirrorshades, hoping to shake the tail by going down several multiple-choice minor streets before getting back on a major one. 'The reason why I did a complete rebuild of the pool cars, it is; to remove the hackable parts and replace with old-school analogues. Problem is that the local Union branch will get wise soon and will start putting in stronger shielding or whatever, like they did in Detroit. They will start doing it back to our wheels at least.'

'It's why I hate this "internet of things" they keep on talking about. Don't want the coffee machine turning against me.' giving a little chuckle. 'We wouldn't have got the target's address if the slave had used phone booths and drove a Seville.'

[Had a weird dream overnight - was dressing as a Ratkin Seer for a LARP. Was fussing that my ancient leather trenchcoat was dusty. Weird, as I've never done LARP and never would.]

Anja wrote:"That is indeed what we expected."

Serge nodded and then, seeing nothing of importance, fast forwarded to the part he wanted to see the most. The moment he had tricked the four Union members into leaving on the fourth floor.

Anja wrote:"I am not using magick to do this right now."
Jon said.

"Sure sure. Whatever you want to call it." Serge said with a shrug.

Anja wrote:"Yeah they might have some firewalls for they might have used some sort of program to protect their car but I am thinking we just try to hack their car right now...hum...ah yes here we go..."
The Virtual Adept said and grinned he made one final tap at his phone and the green car just slowed down to a crawl, letting Nicole easily drive away from it.

"Sweet." Serge said glancing back at the car slowing down. "That should buy us plenty of time."

'I think that's a program you're gonna save for later, no?' Nicole replied, taking the first turning away from the Mirrorshades, hoping to shake the tail by going down several multiple-choice minor streets before getting back on a major one.

"Hopefully, we will see what will end up being needed."
Jon said. You drove through the criss crossing streets and the green car did not seam to be following anymore.

The reason why I did a complete rebuild of the pool cars, it is; to remove the hackable parts and replace with old-school analogues. Problem is that the local Union branch will get wise soon and will start putting in stronger shielding or whatever, like they did in Detroit. They will start doing it back to our wheels at least.'

"Sounds reasonable...rebuilding the pool cars I mean."
Bruce said and Jon sigh.
"We are just going to have to find new ways to beat them, the Union I mean when they figure out how to use new toys."

'It's why I hate this "internet of things" they keep on talking about. Don't want the coffee machine turning against me.' giving a little chuckle. 'We wouldn't have got the target's address if the slave had used phone booths and drove a Seville.'

Jon gave you a look as if you where swearing in Church when you said you hated the internet.
"Well no I guess they would not but still...it is the itnernet, think of all the information out there, how one can reach everyone in seconds, think of the cat videos!"
He exclaimed.

Serge nodded and then, seeing nothing of importance, fast forwarded to the part he wanted to see the most. The moment he had tricked the four Union members into leaving on the fourth floor.

You saw the four Union men run out into the forth floor, after a while they realized this was wrong, ran back to the stairs where they slipped and fell, non of them where seriously hurt but one of them landed pretty hard.

"Sure sure. Whatever you want to call it." Serge said with a shrug.

"No not whatever I want to call it Serge, this is not magick, not Science with a big S it is just, regular hacking, using a computer program in ways it was never meant to."
Jon said and sigh.

"Sweet." Serge said glancing back at the car slowing down. "That should buy us plenty of time."

"It bought us some time at least we will see if it is enough."
The Virtual Adept said and nodded.

(OOC: I joined a LARP once but it never got off the ground, I left it before it fell apart though they where going to play Vampire, but it was not going to be at one building or somewhere away from the public, and they where not going to inform the police or anything about what was going on that is just inviting trouble. There was a mafia LARP in the capital who got seriously fined when a worried woman called the police when she saw her grandson "kidnapped." I am not taking part in that. If one are going to LARP one have to do it responsibly.)

Serge replayed this scene a few times, grinning like a child who was watching a funny scene in his favorite cartoon.

"Don't think she hates that part of the internet." Serge said glancing at Jon. "Think she's referring to how everything is being connected to the web and requires an internet connection. Like how you can send a tweet from your fridge. Which, by the way, I think is really cool and makes me feel like I live in a sci-fi home. But I can see how it'd give the Union an advantage."

Serge still had a look of doubt in his eyes but said nothing.

"Yeah sure there are danger with the internet and just how much information there is out there but that is also what makes it such a useful tool, it is a grat way to find information, manipulate reality and do anything really."
Jon said and he grinned.
"It is just so useful."
