Ulv so wanted to tell you to go and screw yourself, he so wanted to do that, but at the same time he wanted to learn that rote...and in the end the desire for magickal power won over his sense of indignation and he kept it to glaring at you instead of replying.

He nodded with a grimace, "Bad way to die. Worse way to live."

"Yeah I would not want to go out that way..."

"Well, I can hardly fault you for your fatherly affection, even if your judgment in this was poor - while you should have come to the Deacon Council as soon as you got word, I can't really say for certain that anyone else in the Chantry would have acted differently in your position... I'd like to think we all would, but, well..."

There's a lot of bad blood, and much as the Traditions might like to think themselves a bastion against the Technocracy and the Nephandi, it's more like a poorly maintained old palisade with numerous highly experienced, grizzled veterans defending it..."

He grinned, "I'll take that as enthusiastic endorsement... and you are quite welcome."

The Hagalaz mage just glared at you.
"Take it whatever way you fucking like."
He muttered sourly.

He shrugged, "RAF veteran from Desert Storm, remember? I have slept in far worse places, while in constant fear of enemy attack or the bloody US Army pointing their artillery in the wrong direction... and I've had my magic suppressed, albeit by willingly entering a dampening cell to interrogate a prisoner. That was actually far less unpleasant than I'd expected. You would be amazed at how well you can sleep when you have to, really.

"Yeah I guess sleeping in the fucking war sone might be even harder. I do not like having my magick suppressed and especially not by a fucking fat hedge wizard! It is embarrassing! And I mean it is my whole identity, to not have it there is...terrifying."

"I guess you are right though if you get bloody tired enough then you will sleep thought anything."

As for Diego... I wouldn't introduce him to such affectionate flora - being the worst wretch of a Nephandus I've had the distinct experience of encountering, I suspect he'd enjoy it too much."

The Cultist said and grinned.

"Of course...and I wouldn't ask you to do that. That's just a different way for them to win, really isn't it? But as you said this is a crises. Maybe I am being a bit over cautious but I do like good dogs and good spirits," he said, adding a grin. But the smile faded quick as it came and was replaced by a look of hyper vigilance.

Darrian nodded.
"Indeed and I will need the Chief's advice for now as long as this crisis is going on, the last thing the Chantry need is to loose anyone, or having to mount a rescue operation...and I to like good dogs and good spirits."
He said with a bit of a smile.

He wasn't trying to intrude on the Master's area or self but see if the wards had been chewed on and indeed they were. He made a discontented sound as he noted it. "Looks like there's a bit of fraying to note but it didn't get inside," he said to the Master. It looked like more work for Harry and friends...and indeed now he was wondering if all the windows were like that...subtle small cracks.

"I do not like to hear that Mr Roth Hicks..."

"I would have said come back here once you have given Mundi a walk if you please and I will have those potions done but I think I will bring them to your teacher's office and have a chat with him as soon as I have prepared them just to tell him what happened...I am telling you I will be very relieved once this Nephandi situation have been dealt with."

There was no one in the hallway when you headed out of Darrian's apartment and the long hallway lay in silence as most of the residents where either on guard duty or sleeping.

"They probably do...getting the Void Engineers to join us though, while I do not like the idea of more bloody Technocrats joining our ranks, it would strengthen us, and weaken them bu making the Umbra less accessible to our enemies and that is a win, win for us."
Ulv agreed and nodded.

"I will go and have a talk with Master Morgan Mr Roth Hicks, and yes I would appreciate help with the wards but I can deal with that myself as well, though perhaps not elegantly so, your Mentor put these wards up and while my Tradition is now a Hermetic House we do not yet share the Hermetic Paradigm so figuring out how to fix the wards and work with what is already there will be a bit of trial and error but it should not be to much of a concern."
Darrian said then he nodded.

He walked towards the kitchens, glancing around for more signs that the spirit had been nibbling away at the wards and for someone that might be getting a late night snack.

You find one more place where the wards had for a lack of a better term been nibbled on the little gaffling spiders was already gathering at that spot though eagerly spinning their threads and repairing the damage.

You get to the dining room, you find Bruce there two sandwiches and a glass of cola in his hands as he came out of the kitchens.
"Hey Adley."
He said to you when he saw you then he hesitated before he added with an expression that said he did not mean it as an insult, that he was just concerned.
"Man you look like hell, when was the last time you slept?"

Colin nodded to Morgan, "Well, then, I'll just check on Freddy and if there's still time - I don't think there is, though - escort miss Blackwell and little Jane back to Madame Gottschalk's apartment and examine it for residue of the unwanted guest there."

He then headed upstairs with swift, brisk steps.

Our laws seem to come out of fear and have little compasión. There would be no problem in keeping them in an induced comma to let me study this, but i belive there is no willingness in saving fellow mages now

You begin to work your magick and at first it worked well, you could feel your intent empowering the weakened ward, and then...it fell apart, badly, you completely lost control of your rote and the ever watchful eye of the Consensus took notice. By sheer will you managed to force control back of your magick to at least not do more harm than good, but then your due was up. Your hands had been working the old sigils for Rego Vim but then they curled into fists as intense pain shoots through you, the agony do not last long though you do find yourself on your butt on the floor with Darrian standing over you concerned.
"Mr Roth Hicks...are you alright?"
He asked, and you where for the most part, your headache was not better to say it like that and your hind quarters where a bit tender from having fallen backwards on the floor hard...and your hands, ached, it was as if you where holding them in to hot water, not enough to scald them but enough to hurt as swirling energies danced around them, it was quite an irritant, but other than that you where fine, you think. Mundi pushed his wet nose against you and gave your cheek a good licking as if he thought that would make you feel better.

"The laws are often based on fear, but also in practicality. Keeping someone in an induced coma requires specialized medical expertise unless you are going to risk the prisoner dying, so no you can not have bunch of Nephandi on ice until you might be able to find some way to help them. Your only possible chance is to find some mitigating circumstance and have a very good advocate and you might be able to save one or two, though the chances are not good."

(OOC: Well Adley can remove four points of Paradox and now have a temporary Paradox flew where his hands feel like they are far to hot, as if they are put in hot water, not enough to cause much pain but enough to be a distraction so rolls will be one more difficult for a while.)

You get to Freddy's room it was on the same floor as yours. Ingmar open the door when you knock, the Verbena let you into the apartment, you see that the wallpaper in the living room was bright green, the furniture was dark green, the living room table was made of metal and glass. In one corner there was a desk with a computer set up, there where a few shelves filled with games. On wall had several potographs, there where pictures of Freddy's family, you see one picture that had to be her extended magickal family as well for you see her standing there with Hans and Joe, as well as a woman that might be her Mentor and several others, and there where pictures of Freddy's Cabal. The kitchen was painted yellow and it was fairly clean other than a few bowls in the kitchen sink, the bedroom door had a poster from a band the young Virtual Adept liked.
"Freddy and the little girl went to bed, they needed the rest...should I go and wake them up if you needed to see them Mr Wainwright?"
Ingmar asked.
"I am here to watch over them to be sure they are alright."
He said to explain his presence at his Cabalmate's apartment.

I hope your Seeking went well, at least," he said. "Thank you for your concern, it's been a hard week for us all."

"It did go well, thank you."
Bruce said then he nodded.
"Yeah it have been a hard weak."
He agreed in a low mutter.

"That should be sufficient. You should probably check in with the Chief before starting up duty anyway. There have been some unfriendly spirits around besides the other threats, so let's take care."

"I see, well spirits are not my department, but I will check in with Chief Morgan to see where I can be of the most use."
He said and nodded.

"Yes, we should not be very long. Mr King, do you need to ready anything?"

"No I can go now."
Bruce said and ate his sandwiches in a few big gulps and took a few sips of his cola before putting the glass and plate down.
"Ah...time to sit and eat, I do hope we finish up with these Nephandi soon."

Colin shook his head, "No, let them sleep... When Freddy wakes up, let her know Bruce King sends his best wishes. I just wanted to make sure she'd gone to bed."
He sighed, "And now I have to see two other ladies to bed... There was a corrupt spirit of some sort chewing at Madame Gottschalk's window - I evacuated miss Blackwell and little Jane while Chief Morgan and Adley dealt with the thing. I don't know how good you are with spirits or wards, but you might want to take a look at the windows here, too, just in case."
He straightened his back a little, "Well, good night, mr. Rush, and do try to get some sleep, as well. It's bound to be a long day tomorrow."

He gave a quick, simple bow and headed back to his own apartment.

"Not that I can do much to strengthen Hermetic wards. Are the corrupt spirit gone now? And do you think our friendly Nephandi sent it to be a nuisance?

He straightened his back a little, "Well, good night, mr. Rush, and do try to get some sleep, as well. It's bound to be a long day tomorrow."

"Thank you. Have a good night as well Mr Wainwright and I will try to get some sleep as soon as I am sure that Freddy and the little girl are safe and comfortable."

He gave a quick, simple bow and headed back to his own apartment.

You get to your apartment, you see Jane is still sitting on the floor reading while Dion sat in a chair watching her. Your new feathery friend had gone back to his post at the window. Dion looked up when you came in.
"Is all well Mr Wainwright? Have that spirit been dealt with`"

Ingmar agreed and nodded.
"And let her know you where here asking about her."

Colin smiled, "Thank you."

Colin shrugged, "I believe Chief Morgan tore it to bits - he seemed none too happy about that. As for why it was here... I don't rightly know. Could be it was sent here to harass us, could be it was sent here with a more specific and insidious purpose."

"Is all well Mr Wainwright? Have that spirit been dealt with`"

He nodded, "It should be safe to return now - the wards should be restored, I believe, and Chief Morgan killed the damnable thing... I'd like to escort you back and have a quick look at the, er, battlefield, myself. It would be rude to look magically at the place without permission or at least someone present to preserve decency, though."
He looked down at Jane with a small smile, "So, do you like the book? You're quite welcome to borrow in until you're done."
