Anja's Post:

'Won't be much help if I - or anyone, for that matter - only find out after the event, is it?'

Anja's Post:

'I've got a bit in reserve, though all depends on what calibre is needed, like. As for massive damage... best bet at short notice is a 12-gauge with solid slugs. Some Van Pelt monster would be even better, but you try to find one of them on a Sunday morning in Boston. Plus, how many removal companies go on jobs with pieces to blow away elephants?'

[Jeffry's Office Morning]
Anja wrote:"I do not mind Lady Crexia's skill in ehm...interrogation Mr Wainwright that have it's place it is just that interrogation though pain tend to be less effective than getting someone to want to talk."
Jeffry replied.
"And that speciality should not matter in this mission, as for slavery that is horrible, and abomination but at least if the slave holder is not needlessly cruel it is less...horrid but it is still something I will fight for until my cold corpse is in the grave."
The old Hermetic said firmly.
"Now as for your idea Mr Wainwright you are thinking we will just send in one person into the room to disable the trap before the rest of us enter?"
Colin smiled thinly, "I do suspect that Lady Crexia will have some strong opinions on torture for entertainment, though. She is, after all, an expert on its practical use, and I do not think she'd want to see her stock in trade reduced to mere showmanship. And... ideally, we could expand the room and trigger the trap from outside before going in, but failing that... yes, rather like mundane explosive ordinance disposal specialists, one person in as thick armor as is practically viable goes in to defuse the bomb, preferably without detonating it."

Anja wrote:"That is indeed possible Mr Wainwright."
Jeffry agreed.
"I guess it could be any number of triggers and we are not going to know for sure before we can examine them properly ourselves."
He nodded, "Well, you know as much as I do about it... further speculation is a bit above my skill level when it comes to dealing with this sort of blasting."

Anja wrote:"I like my coffee strong. I actually prefer the kind I make in an iron pot but I have to admit this machine is practical. I even use the horrible contraption several Chantry members got me two years ago for Christmas, it use little plastic pots filled with coffee grind and you can press buttons to decide how warm you want it. I fear Narim had to spend allot of time telling me how it works though."
The old mage said with a chuckle.
"Hum...I have some tea as well I can boil some water for some...it is some sort of citrus blend they had it at the store I get my coffee from and I wanted to try it."
Jeffry offered indicated a brown bag of tea on his shelf.
He shook his head with a small smile, "Pass, Sir. I should just finish the cup I have and get on with the day - I've got to check on Freddy, and Anna was having a bit of trouble, so I sent her up to the infirmary, too; I've got to check in on her, as well. And I need a chat with the former Infernalist, as Master Adimari has agreed to speak with him about a possible defense. I think he could make for a good fit at Chantry Flamingo in Chicago, if they're willing to take him in, and can instruct a Linear student. I should probably have a word with our other captives, as well, you know, do the rounds..."

"Ok first of all. How dare you mention taxes in a discussion about the fae." Serge said with faux-seriousness before dropping the act and smiling.
Morrigan shrugged and smiled. "Death and taxes is the same for them as it is for you and me."

Serge wrote:"Ha! Only one at a given time? Try to hit all of them all at the same time coward." Serge replied.
Morrigan rolled her eyes mock-seriously. "Oh man, I can see you're going to be trouble. Let's just say that I've consumed most of the chemicals a person can consume, in a wide variety of combinations. I try to keep it a little more sequestered from my other endeavours, treat it like the other side of the moderation in all things including moderation equation. But, to paraphrase the immortal Mitch Hedberg: I used to do drugs, I still do, but I used to, too."

She smirked.

"Brushes? Yeah sure thing. Painting never really meshed with me anyways." Serge said, walking over his desk and opening a small drawer.

Pulling out a rather cheap looking paintbrush, the Ecstatic quickly through it over to Morrigan, expecting her to catch given the confidence she had displayed in her own abilities.

"The second requests a bit tougher. Not a fan of watermelons and have grown attached to these walls. But I might have something in the wooden board department."

He quickly went down a hallway that lead deeper into his apartment. A slight screeching sound would alert Morrigan to his return as he came back holding what appeared to be a folded up wooden painting easel. "This wooden board good enough for you?"
"Perfect," Morrigan said as she caught the thrown brushes deftly from the air.

She held them in her hand and stared at the easel. The motion was quick, but even in those few brief moments there was a clear change in her face and body language from voluble and hyper to deadpan-focused.

Just a moment's pause, and she threw all but one of the brushes in quick succession. They whistled through the air like darts and, with a THWOK THWOK THWOK like arrows in an old Errol Flynn movie, the struck the easel and stayed, in a perfect line.

The lone remaining brush in her hand she spun till it was bristles-out and she leaped forward toward the easel in a single low, fluid arc, and she swiped it out and sideways. Serge clearly saw the bristles cut through the wood. She landed. And the top of the easel fell to the ground. The cut was perfectly clean and sheer.

She looked up, smiling again.

"Pretty badass, right?"

"It would not surprise me if Lady Crexia takes offense to what this Massassa do with her craft, as for your plan Mr Wainwright it seams sensible enough, we set the space expanding spell up and try to trigger the trap from the outside and if that fail we send in one protected individual to take care of it."
The old war mage agreed.

He nodded, "Well, you know as much as I do about it... further speculation is a bit above my skill level when it comes to dealing with this sort of blasting."

"Off course Mr Wainwright give my best to Anna and Miss Adleblnd wish them a speedy recovery."
Jeffry agreed with a nod.
"The prisoners are at the basement, you may see them if you wish."
The old war mage said his tone clearly indicating he helod out far less hope for the former Infernalist than you did.
"Very well then Mr Wainwright I will see you later in the day."

"Hey I'm not the bad influence in this relationship." Serge replied, "I'm on the fairly lower end of drug use. Well...compared to the rest of the Cult of Ecstasy at least."

"That! Was! So Cool!" Serge said, a look of childlike amazement on his face as if he had only just awakened yesterday and this was the first display of supernatural skill that he had seen.

He immediately went over to the board to inspect the brushes embedded into the easel, jostling them ever so slightly to see how deeply they were embedded. Afterwards he ran his finger over the cut through the easel as to see how clean the cut had been.

"So you can just use anything like a sword? Could you slice someone in half with a rubber chicken?" he asked, still excited over the feat he had just witnessed.

Morrigan smiled and preened a little. It was pretty badass, she'd worked very hard to get so badass. And she rarely got to show how awesome all this was to anyone who philosophically permitted to make value judgements.

"Not necessarily like a sword, but yeah, I can weaponize pretty much anything I can get my grubby little paws on. And not always like you'd think. Like, towels make better spears than whips for whatever reason. I never tried killing someone with a rubber chicken before. Probably it's more impact damage than cutting. I'd have to hold it to be sure though."

She paused. Gave Serge a sly look.

"And now.... I believe some stupid ninja tricks of your own were promised?"

Colin nodded, "If nothing else, it's a workable start."

"Then we have a beginning of a plan at least Mr Wainwright."
Jeffry replied with a nod.

He nodded and headed to the door, "I need to ask Cita if she can help make a simple door to Toby, too... Tali visited me in a dream, by the way - she's at peace, with no regrets, and she's lingering with Toby to make sure he's fine before her spirit leaves for the Deep. No angry ghost there... thank goodness."

Jeffry got a concerned look in his dark eyes.
"Actually Cita is with Adley, all of the spellcasting last night exited...well you know his condition I believe."
He said with a sigh.
"Hopefully all will be well, as for Tali I am glad she will not become a ghost we will ahve to be worried about."
He said with a nod.

He gave Morgan a smile before heading up the stairs to the infirmary, "I'll tell them."

You came up to the over crowded infirmary, Richard and Miss White was running around trying to care for all of Jace's rescued victims. You saw Freddy still asleep in her bed. The young Nephandi girl that Crexia had adopted sat in hers reading a magazine and Anna smiled and headed over to you when she saw you she eyes the patients with IVs nervously. Richard finished checking on one of the rescued victims and headed over to Colin as well.
"Hi...I gave Anna a check, she will be fine but she is exhausted...I recommend bed rest for the rest of the day."
He declared and Anna sigh.
"But that is so boring!"
She protested.
"You can read or watch TV or play a game child but you should get some rest and take it easy today."
The Akashic said patting her shoulder.

Morrigan wrote:"That's a pretty low bar," Morrigan replied. "That's like saying you're less of a disaster than Chernobyl or something."

"Hey, not being the biggest disaster in the room is pretty good comfort you know. Don't really feel too bad passing out in class from withdrawals after hearing about crazy Steve passing out naked in the middle of the freeway covered in chicken feathers and cocaine." Serge replied.

Morrigan wrote:Morrigan smiled and preened a little. It was pretty badass, she'd worked very hard to get so badass. And she rarely got to show how awesome all this was to anyone who philosophically permitted to make value judgements.

I'd have to hold it to be sure though."

She paused. Gave Serge a sly look.

"And now.... I believe some stupid ninja tricks of your own were promised?"

"Oh sorry I don't have any stupid Ninja tricks. Cause those don't exist." Serge said coyly, rooting through his pockets to find something. "Cool Ninja Tricks though. I got plenty. Ahh here it is."

With a look of triumph, Serge pulled out a pencil with a sticky note wrapped around it. The sticky note had a drawing on it. An elegantly decorated Lily flower which matched the Lily that was depicted on Serge's Cult of Ecstasy ring. The artist spun the pencil between his fingers idly, clearly experienced with having a writing utensil in his hands.

"Just learned how to do this this morning. So I may get this wrong. But I may get this right. And if I do it'll look awesome. Which is good enough for me." Serge said as he began to walking to the far corner of the room, pencil still spinning between his fingers.

"....All right. Here we go....." he began, this time talking in a tone that was ever so slightly different to how he spoke before. A more mystical absentminded tone as Serge began to focus.

"One for the money, two for the show, three to get ready. And. Four. To. GO!"

At the end of the rhyme, Serge threw the pencil towards the center of his room. The pencil spun through the air and, at the exact moment it flew over the table placed at the center of the room, Serge suddenly disappeared from where he was standing and instantaneously reappeared standing on top of the table.

Clutched in his right hand (the same hand on which he wore his Lily ring) was the sticky-note marked pencil that he had thrown, seemingly caught mid-flight. Though if Morrigan was eagle-eyed she may have noticed that Serge didn't exactly catch the pencil. He had teleported himself to the pencil with his hand already around it.

"Ok. Everything good? Everything good?" he would quickly say, glancing around and patting his clothing to make sure he had teleported everything properly. "Hell yeah! How'd you like that? Bonus points if you can guess which Naruto Jutsu I was trying to rip off."

(OOC: Hey Anja, if you want me to roll for the spell let me know. I just figured since I'm pretty sure I only need one success for this effect that I could just narrate it to avoid slowing things down.)

Colin frowned, "Hum, the kid's restless, then... Well, I have no reason to expect they won't be fine, but some rest will probably do them both good. I'll swing by there later, then. Hm, opening a passage to the Labyrinth, that's a Disciple-rank working, is it not?"

"Yes it is, I know Adley is in the best of hands and Cita assure me he will be okey but off course I am worried. I do believe my filius will appreciate a visit but yes he will need some rest after Cita have done her work."
Jeffry said and you saw the concern in his eyes.
"Ah...the Labyrinth it depend on how you do it, stepping into the Umbra and then stepping back into the limited reality of the Labyrinth yes a Disciple of Spirit can do it, but for opening a portal to teleport in not to mention one that is semi permanent that is fairly advanced magick actually."

He gave Freddy a warm smile in passing before walking over to Anna, giving Richard a nod, "Oh, good, I was a little concerned. Thank you."

"I was not thinking she should stay here Colin, bed rest do not mean staying in the infirmary."
Richard said then he nodded.
"Some light activity such as board games is okey but I recommend that Anna use her mask as much as possible today, but yes she is exhausted and need time to recover, basically due to her hart condition when she gets to tired she will take longer to recover than you or me."
The Akashic said and Anna smiled a little.
"Board games would be fun and a visit from Mr Yager is always nice."
She said and Richard nodded.
"Board games with Yu Die then, she is on the roof training with Master Nassa currently I will send her right down, as for Kira we have to ask Master Morgan but she is well enough to be out of the infirmary but be careful with her hands until they filly heal."
He said. Anna nodded when you mentioned Master Morgan and Master Adimari had wished her well.
"That is nice dad, I have to remember to thank them."

(OOC: Yeah do not worry about a roll you only need one success and it is for a relaxed social interaction so not to worry.)

Colin nodded, "Well beyond my abilities for now... I'm going to need some sort of accessory for the troll, I guess."

"Yes it can get complicated to teleport across the Gauntlet and also making anything permanent take considerable resources, but I am sure you can talk someone into making some solution for you Mr Wainwright."
Jeffry said with a nod.

[Infirmary]

He smiled and tapped out a quick message to Morgan, 'Sir, would it be permissible for Kira, Lady Crexia's new apprentice, to join Anna and Yu Die for some board games at my apartment today, on condition of a chaperone?'

You got a reply back from Jeffry which said.
"To Mr Wainwright
If you make sure that there are a chaperone there to ensure the girl do not try to escape then I will allow it, there is no longer any danger she will run back to the Labyrinth so the risk of escape attempts are minimal but I am still concerned of her doing something dumb to try to rescue her old Mentor.
Be Well.
JM."

He looked up at Richard again, "Alright, let's see what the Chief says. Now, how is Freddy doing? I see she's fast asleep, but..."

"She is doing remarkably well actually."
Richard said and he glanced over at Freddy.
"Now she will be in and out of sleep for days it will take time for her to recover completely but she is stronger now and I have been able to reduce her doses of pain medication so when she do wake up she will be clearer. Right now though sleep is the best thing for her, that is how her brain will heal."
The Akashic said with a warm smile.
"But she is stronger than yesterday."

Turning to Kira, he added, "How would you like to join my daughter and her friend for some board games today, Kira?I'm sure you'd enjoy a break from sitting here all day?"

"Ah yes our new member I should introduce myself to her. I am not sure if I should call and wake her or Serge at the moment though I do not know when they went to bed."
Richard said.

Turning to Kira, he added, "How would you like to join my daughter and her friend for some board games today, Kira?I'm sure you'd enjoy a break from sitting here all day?"

Kira smiled a little and she put her magazine down.
"I would like that yes."
She said with a nod and Anna gave her a wave of her hand.
"We can decide what to play later, I have some good ones."
She informed the other young mage."

He smiled and headed over to her bed, giving her hand a gentle squeeze for a moment before heading back toward the stairs.

Freddy moved slightly when you touched her hand then she went back to sleeping deeply she looked better though, she had more color in her cheeks though she was still weak.
"How is she doing dad?"
Anna asked.
"I check on Freddy before you got here she did not wake up then either."
The young apprentice followed you towards the stairs as you walked.

Colin chuckled, "Or in whose... ah, the young lady seemed somewhat less concerned with being dignified than your Tradition's general reputation would have it. I'll see if I meet either around the Chantry as I make my rounds; they did retire somewhat later than I did."

"Well they are both adults."
Richard said with a bit of a raised eyebrow.
"You do that let the young lady know I would love to meet her when she have the time and Mr Yager know that we might need some help watching over the kids, then again the Chief might want him to help out with the vampire hunt considering his abilities he would be an assert."

He nodded, "Good... I'm sure your new mentor will appreciate my playing the good host while you're here, at least. The very least I could offer."

Kira shuddered at the mention of Crexia and she looked down and nodded.

He winked to Anna, "And why don't you all help yourselves to a cup of the extra-special hot chocolate while you're at it? The tin with the red lid in the upper cupboard."

"Thanks dad I will make some for all of us."
Anna agreed with a grin.
"It is very good."
She told Kira who still looked a bit uncertain about the whole thing.

He nodded, "A few years ago, Freddy was hurt badly by the Technocracy, and they stole bits of her... The surgery she just had reclaimed all those bits and put them back, and while it was both painful and stressful, she'll be a lot better going forward."

"I see, but she is better now right? Freddy will be okey?"
Anna muttered.
"Dumb Technocrats they deserve a good, hard kick."
She said then she brightened.
"I get to time travel as well? Cool...will I be good at it dad? But how do this help Freddy?"
The young apprentice asked scratching her blond head.

Jeremy Silverstein wrote:

Morrigan wasn't quite sure what to expect. Something arty and pretty. A flower coming real or maybe that dragon winking at her or whatever. The couple of CoE folx she'd messed with were pretty good at messing with the flow of time. So the teleporting was a total shock.

"BODY FLICKER TECNIQUE!" she yelled out, probably louder than she should have.

"That. Was. Awesome!" She jumped up and clapped. "Do you need to teleport to the pencil or was that just bonus badassery? How far can you go? Did you say you just learning that this morning? That's amazing!"

She pauses. Makes a mock-sad face.

"Man, I wish I'd picked a better Ninja Trick, now. I feel all inadequate. Cutting a piece of plywood with an old brush? Who does that?"

A pause.

"So what else you all got around here? This is a cool room. But I'd like to see the rest if you're still up for it."

"The pencil thing is just me being extra. Normally I just visualize where I want to go and go there. Distance doesn't really matter to me. That's actually an important part to learning how to teleport. Learning that things like distance and space are bullshit concepts that can be ignored." Serge said with a sheepish laughter, quite enjoying the girl's excitement. "And If you thought that was awesome wait until I show you some of the art mage tricks I've got."

Morrigan wrote:She pauses. Makes a mock-sad face.

"Hey don't diss slicing and dicing. That's a time honored Ninja technique. And they'll be plenty of opportunities to show off our more extreme magick skills." Serge said with a smile, hopping down from the table back onto the ground.

"Yeah we're suppose to be on tour aren't we. Guess we got carried away a bit. Let's see....we can head up to the attic to see the training room, chapels, and gardens. Or we can head down to the basement and I can show you all the weird stuff we have down there. Rituals rooms. Workshops. Hobby rooms. War Prisoners...." he mused as he lead Morrigan out of his room and into the hallway. "Got any preferences?"

(OOC: We should be heading into the first or second floors hallway now Nick. Feel free to jump in anytime.)

Richard said with a warm smile.

He smiled thinly, "You do realize she's going to damn near spoil you rotten, right? Of all the members of House Tytalus, you've probably ended up with the gentlest Mentor you could."

"I guess we are going to have to say but she do save my Avatar so I am grateful for that."
Kira said still sounding doubtful and she looked down at her hands that was still swollen and full of pink, freshly healed skin where nails had be hammered into her joins and she shuddered.

He chuckled, giving Kira a wink, "It's a sinfully rich type, a gift from my lawyer."

"It is basically hot chocolate rather than being cocoa."
"There is a difference?"

"I am glad Freddy will be okey dad I like her and I am glad I will be able to help in the future. I am exited to become a bad ass chronomancer, for now I will probably focus on my countermagick and wards though, getting better at what the Traditions call Prime."
The apprentice said with a smile.

[Chief's Office, 6.00]

'Won't be much help if I - or anyone, for that matter - only find out after the event, is it?'

"That is fair enough."
Helena said with a nod.

"Well we need some regular ammo so 9mm at least that is what I use. What I need something more massive for though is that some old Massassa have skin that is hard as stone, to get to the heart we need to do some serious damage."
The ice mage said with a frown.
"When that is said though I think I can talk my contact into selling us something without bothering with ehm...legalities but it all depends on what he got, and we can always find ways to hide the weapons on our way into the club.

(OOC: I just noticed your post. I am so sorry I missed it, I was pretty tired after the trip by car for oh 9 hours and then gaming last night so I have been so scatterbrained. I have replied now and again I am so sorry I did not mean to miss your post.)

Kira gave you a bit of a doubtful look.

"Well it do sound delicious."
Kira said and Anna nodded.
"It is good, I will make some as soon as you come down to the apartment. Master Adimari got dad the chocholate, she is really good and cooking and at legal stuff."
She declared and again Kira looked a bit skeptical.

Anna beamed at that, and nodded.
"I can teach you how to work better with primal energies and weave or unweave magick itself dad."
She agreed and she smiled.
"I think I would enjoy becoming a teacher one day.

He smiled, "I think you will indeed. Hum... once you're a bit better, I'm going to have to work on some of my own counterwork with you - a specific method to reestablish Potential where a Qlippothic effect is in place. That's going to be interesting to develop further; Adley and I have had some success with testing the premise, in Chicago, to punch a hole in a very well-made air wall... we've not had much opportunity to delve deeper into it since, unfortunately; not the sort of thing that is normally easily studied outside of, hm, field testing."
