"Yeah we do, but I am not sure if calling an ambulance will be wise, now those ears could be natural, it can happen but...given what we felt here chances are that..."
Darrian lowered his voice even more not to be heard by the crowd.
"That he is someone a certain group of mages both of our Traditions have belonged to at some point in history would find interesting..."
The Solificato said then he sigh and looks at Devon.
"Suggestions?"

Colin nodded, "I would request, though, that someone else with a bit of compassion and understanding perform the interrogation of the girl. For some strange reason, I have a feeling she might resent me a bit after I shot her and buggered off with the objective..."
He smiled, "I believe Mr. Terach is an Adept, yes. Certainly quite the navigator for traversing the Near Umbra. I'll note that we might be adequately served by employing the same gun at the Labyrinth, though - and destroying it afterwards. The Police will already be looking for matching rifling marks - getting the extractor marks to match as well will be of further help to them anyway, at which point melting the thing into a useless lump of raw material might be just as well. Or dismantling it for partial repurposing."
He handed Joakim the brass cap, "In that case, why don't you get this to someone able to determine the bullet's location? If it is still embedded in the girl, then nothing is better, in a manner of speaking, but if it is with the police or the Fallen... might want to try to destroy it through the sympathetic link."

Colin nodded, "I would request, though, that someone else with a bit of compassion and understanding perform the interrogation of the girl. For some strange reason, I have a feeling she might resent me a bit after I shot her and buggered off with the objective..."

"Off course and I can see how you might be off her Christmas list to say it like that Mr Wainwright, then again you have proven to be rather good at getting people to like you, even those that really should not, like Jodelle Jerkins."
Joakim said with a slight smile.
"But yes I will find someone to talk to the girl."

He smiled, "I believe Mr. Terach is an Adept, yes. Certainly quite the navigator for traversing the Near Umbra. I'll note that we might be adequately served by employing the same gun at the Labyrinth, though - and destroying it afterwards.

"Hum...quite a capable man then."
The hedge wizard agreed.
"Using the gun for the raid on the Labyrinth might be alright, I am just worried about mortal authorities, getting arrested is a pain and is a good way to get into the hands of the Union, they have a way of coming in as special agents and whisking Awakened prisoners away."
He said and he did look quite concerned.

The Police will already be looking for matching rifling marks - getting the extractor marks to match as well will be of further help to them anyway, at which point melting the thing into a useless lump of raw material might be just as well. Or dismantling it for partial repurposing."

Joakim nodded.
"Well I will feel safer when that gun is gone, or at least the parts that could be identified with the police, if they have the bullet you shot that Nephandus with."

He handed Joakim the brass cap, "In that case, why don't you get this to someone able to determine the bullet's location? If it is still embedded in the girl, then nothing is better, in a manner of speaking, but if it is with the police or the Fallen... might want to try to destroy it through the sympathetic link."

The old linear mage took the brass cap and turned it over in his hand.
"Hum...I think I will ask Master Min, our resident member of House Guernicus to help, such searches are one of his House's specialties."
He said and then put the cap into his pocket.
"Let us hope the bullet is still in the Nephandi girl, if not then yes I do assume Master Min can destroy it from here to avoid the Nephandi or the police having the bullet to use to track you or Mr Terach."

Mia's Mirror, Basement Cells and Node With a View IC Thread 12 - Page 24 Empty Re: Mia's Mirror, Basement Cells and Node With a View IC Thread 12

Post by Adley Thu Jul 21, 2016 8:20 pm

Colin nodded grimly as he handed Joakim the drawing, "Yes, a memory of things to come... She was a dear friend reborn... Will be... maybe. But yes, absolutely, kindness and compassion will likely get one further than force."
"Well hopefully such a grim event in the future can be avoided." He said then he nodded.

Adley's frown deepened a notch. "Let's make sure there is a future beyond Monday, first."

He shook his head, banishing the unpleasant memory for now, "Sorry, that was unbidden. Completely different context and everything. First things first; extract the girl from the hospital... Yes, skilled though she is, by her expression, physical violence was not even remotely close to the range of responses she expected. I might even go so far as to speculate that she's been outright coddled by Gabriel, as the only person in the world he treated nicely."

He frowned. "Or they were not expecting you to shoot a teenager. They won't make that mistake again."

He nodded to Adley, "The string analogy might be imprecise... but it should be close enough for government work."

"Yes, it's not perfect...I have other analogies that I would use but then again as I do not study the art of Fate I am making some deductions based on what I observed and what I know of Prime and the tapestry."

He pondered, "Adjan might be the best of our group, then, assuming this happens while you're busy working on the other extrication. But Morningstar might have someone just as able and available to keep an eye out in that... spectrum of things. I'll need a word with him soon enough, anyway, seeing as I've apparently doomed his gun to the slagheap. Rather a pity, since it's only the barrel that left its mundane mark on the bullet..."

"Better to lose things than lives. Things can eventually be replaced, though it is damnable they make us waste resources. Adjan is skilled with spirits, though he's had a rough night. Still, he might have some ideas."

He rummaged around in his pocket and produced the casing from the shot, "Come to think of it, I don't need ballistic gel or anything - the casing from the bullet I fired should be all the sympathetic tracking we need, don't you think?"
"Yes indeed, as bullet and casing was once one thing, the arcane connection between the two is about as strong as it can be for an inanimate object, the only thing stronger would be a broken of piece of something or two items forged together."
Joakim explained.

He raised an eyebrow. "That could work, yes," he agreed. "Alright, I think I should go find Mrs Knox then and Mr Harris, unless you have need of me of course."

Adley's frown deepened a notch. "Let's make sure there is a future beyond Monday, first."

Joakim nodded at that.
"Good point that Mr Roth Hicks...good point that, and to discuss that further what more do we need to discuss to A get your contact's grandchilde secured and B get this Tremere elder that the Nephandi want to turn into the Duracell bunny freed? How are we coming along with a plan? Also we should discuss what we should do with this...Carmon was it? Once we have freed him."
The linear mage said and then crossed of points on his fingers.
"So you talk with Mrs Knox and get what you need to control your contact's family member while I make sure you have some back up, you then arrange transport from the apartment with your honored Mentor...what else do we need for that part of our tasks?"

"Better to lose things than lives. Things can eventually be replaced, though it is damnable they make us waste resources. Adjan is skilled with spirits, though he's had a rough night. Still, he might have some ideas."

"Quite a few have had a rough night but yes, we might not want to tire out your friend before we really need him, but an Adept Euthanatos might indeed have some ideas and would be an assert for any mission."
The Security Chief muttered as he sipped his coffee.

He raised an eyebrow. "That could work, yes," he agreed. "Alright, I think I should go find Mrs Knox then and Mr Harris, unless you have need of me of course."

"No, go and speak with them and sort out what you need to secure the poor Masassa while I and Mr Wainwright finish crafting the plan to get the Nephandi girl out of the hospital."

Devon umms quietly outloud "I know, i think" pulling from my backpack a card ( 9 - 7 - 8 arete roll) just in case we need it {fake Doctor ID) , in a strong voice unlike him so far" we need to get this man to a hospital..... Stat" and moves over to help him

You just so happen to have a fake doctor ID in your backpack, strange how when you need something the lint and dust in the thing tend to be reduced and just what you wanted to find in your special built backpack are there for you to find.

The crowd looks at you a bit skeptically but then slowly begin to move aside, letting you get over to the wounded man, the strange fellow was mostly still, his eyes where closed and you do not know if he was unconscious, he was pretty badly messed up though, and while he now and again seamed to shiver slightly, his breath was so slow you could not see his chest rise and fall.

"By the gods he is cold as ice!"
He muttered in a hushed tone of voice as he touched the man.

Colin grinned wryly, "True enough, but I did not shoot and abandon Jodelle Jerkins. Had she looked me in the eye as I put a bullet in her chest, she might have been understandably upset at me, too..."
He nodded, "Avoiding arrest would be far preferable... I might manage to get out again somehow, but it would be far too inconvenient in the long run. Plus, there would be the added complications of fingerprinting and the like - not sure how I would get around that little issue."
He pondered briefly, "I suppose the bullet could be equally destroyed if it's still embedded in the girl... though I suspect that would feel very strange for her - and would likely clue her in on the fact that something strange is happening."
He grimaced at Adley, "Well, I can't blame them for not expecting me to shoot a teenager. I myself did not expect to shoot a teenager. And I hope to avoid doing so again. That said, yes, we'll have to ensure there is a future beyond Monday, but in the words of Nick Fury, Until such time as the world ends, we will act as though it intends to spin on."
He pondered for a moment, "I can't be sure, but I think having Adjan along just to keep a lookout shouldn't be too harrowing... Hmmm, I'll ask him to come down here himself."
He fished out his phone and tapped out a quick message to Adjan, "Small complication. Join us in the Chief's office?"

"I'm sure you didn't. It has not been a good week."

He pondered for a moment, "I can't be sure, but I think having Adjan along just to keep a lookout shouldn't be too harrowing...Hmmm, I'll ask him to come down here himself."

"Right...let's assume he's escorted. We'll need a a few people to help set up ahead of time. I don't want to sound paranoid, but it's better to be ready in case as well as a timeframe finalized. I will also need to contact back home to make sure that the transfer can happen around then. Then the tradeoff... I will speak with my pater regarding those last details, seeing as how the Umbra might be a poor choice for vampire transport, at least without some forethought. As for the Tremere...we have the elementals to help us but we still need to consider how to overcome their wards and protections. As for where he is going assuming we succeed...I honestly do not know, sir. Partly it depends on the state he is in, staked and I assume bound. He is a Tremere of the original House but does not often involve himself in current politics from what we've heard, aside from trying to prevent Nicolai from taking a child magus." He frowned as he thought about it.

He nodded. "That sounds like a good place to start. I will also need to set up a new agreement with one of the elementals to go along with us, perhaps the more aggressive of the pair, if you would be so kind as to provide something to offer them, as discussed."

"No, go and speak with them and sort out what you need to secure the poor Masassa while I and Mr Wainwright finish crafting the plan to get the Nephandi girl out of the hospital."

"Good luck to you both," he said, standing up to excuse himself.

Colin and Adley:

Colin grinned wryly, "True enough, but I did not shoot and abandon Jodelle Jerkins. Had she looked me in the eye as I put a bullet in her chest, she might have been understandably upset at me, too..."

"Very true, very true, it was your doctor friend that kicked Miss Jerkins in the head was it not, that is how you ended up with capturing her? But yes the Nephandi child might indeed react badly to seeing you."

He nodded, "Avoiding arrest would be far preferable... I might manage to get out again somehow, but it would be far too inconvenient in the long run. Plus, there would be the added complications of fingerprinting and the like - not sure how I would get around that little issue."

"Anything can be fixed Mr Wainwright, but getting arrested would be a hassle and it would be dangerous, there is a good chance that someone in a police office are working for the Technocracy and that they as such will be able to find out that the new prisoner is a mage, and that young man, that is a far bigger problem than fingerprints."

He pondered briefly, "I suppose the bullet could be equally destroyed if it's still embedded in the girl... though I suspect that would feel very strange for her - and would likely clue her in on the fact that something strange is happening."

"Well I got shot in the shoulder oh...fifteen years ago bu a Union man, Lady Arden turned the bullet to water rather than removing it before she healed me so yes it should be possible to destroy it, I would not say that it was much discomfort about it either but I did feel something happening so yes it should probably be done after we have the child in our custody not to give her time to prepare if the bullet is still inside of her."
Joakim said and nodded.
"Now as for teleporting the bullet out, that to is possible but much harder to take something out of a living body is not easy, but it is possible that Master Harris have the finesse to do so, you would not know it looking at the man but he is quite the powerful mage."

Joakim sigh and nodded.
"None of us want to harm anyone, and much less a child, but when sides of this war, and we are guilty of this to at times, send our apprentices into war we have to do what we have to do, especially when it is the fate of the world that is in the balance. Both of my former apprentices have students of their own, one of them is an adult woman, but the other is a teenager, she have faugh in this war as well, horrible as that might be, but at time we need every man and woman able to conjure up a spell, regardless of their age...and that means sometimes children are put in the line of fire...sometimes they are the ones that are hurt."
The Security Chief said sadly.

Joakim nodded at that. You quickly get a reply back from Adjan.
"Very well I will be right down."

"He is skilled with spirits," he agreed.

"Well that is quite the useful ability."
Joakim said and gave a fond smile, he to liked to work with spirits.

"Right...let's assume he's escored. We'll need a a few people to help set up ahead of time. I don't want to sound paranoid, but it's better to be ready in case as well as a timeframe finalized.

"Like I said I will send a few men with you to help out if anything happens Mr Roth Hicks, I agree that it is always best to be prepared for the worst."

I will also need to contact back home to make sure that the transfer can happen around then. Then the tradeoff... I will speak with my pater regarding those last details, seeing as how the Umbra might be a poor choice for vampire transport, at least without some forethought.

"Very well, let me know what else you might need of me then once you have spoken with Master Morgan."
The hedge wizard said and nodded.

Carmon...we the elementals that might give us a glimpse to help us with locking down a teleport but we still need to consider how to overcome their wards.

"Hum...well we would need to know the kind of wards they have before we do that, but sending someone with the team getting him that are good with countermagick, or perhaps your friend Mr Wainwright here can do something with that quite interesting spell of his."

As for where he is going assuming we succeed...I honestly do not know, sir. Partly it depends on the state he is in, staked and I assume bound. He is a Tremere of the original House, but does not often involve himself in current politics from what we've heard, aside from trying to prevent Nicolai from taking a child magus." He frowned as he thought about it.

"He was a mage then...before he became what he now is?"
Joakim asked very softy and for a moment you see centuries of pain in his light brown eyes and he just looked tired...haggard then he took a deep breath and suppressed his emotions, forced them deep down into a hole in his mind so he could function.
"That might be why he is working against Nicolai, he do not want another to suffer his own fate..."
He muttered then the Security Chief took a deep breath.
"As long as this Massasa remains staked you can bring him here but we can not take a Tremere into the Chantry we do not know, it took us some time to trust Miss Jarden, if he is in a good enough condition to fend for himself then just letting him go and urging him to leave town might work but then again he might then get himself captured again and we would be right back where we started."
He said and frowned.
"Keeping him here might be the safest option until this whole mess is over and then releasing him to go where he please..."

He nodded. "That sounds like a good place to start. I will also need to set up a new agreement with one of the elementals to go along with us, perhaps the more aggressive of the pair, if you would be so kind as to provide something to offer them, as discussed."

"The brothers tend to go together, I have never succeeded in summoning one without the other, they are a package deal I am afraid."
Joakim said as he opened a drawer in his desk and removed something in a large, velvet pouch and handed it to you, the pouch contained two pieces of marble of excellent quality.
"This should please them."
He informed you.
"The brothers are kind of fond of the stuff."

"Good luck to you both," he said, standing up to excuse himself.

"The same to you Mr Roth Hicks."
Joakim said as he inclined his head towards you.

Devon:

The wounded man was indeed cold to the touch as you carried him, you do manage to get to the car though, the crowd gawks at you and Darrian carrying him but they do not try to stop you. Once you are at the car the Solificato says.
"Right, let us get out of here then before the Union figure out something is happening and comes to check this out...I do wonder what this fellow is though, and what have happened to him."

Tane:

Friday:

We'll have Amadeus helping he assured her and waited for Amadeus to end up with the bed.

Beatrice nodded, she was quiet for a while save cried of pain now and again and incoherent mumbling. After a while Amadeus came out into the living room.
"Very well, the bed is ready, thank you for taking care of her while I changed it Mr Karyak...how is she?"
The old Verbena said as he cast a concerned look at his wounded apprentice.

Saturday:

Ok, do that, call them. Brother needs help and you'll need someone to take the body and the prisoner. Well, the guy's gonna need some stitches before he bleeds out. Tane said, preparing himself a little else for the ordeal of several hours gathering shards.

Henrietta nodded and picked up her phone and called the Chantry as she waited for someone to pick up she said.
"I will get Coawa looked after and then get him to the sea and make sure the body is disposed of and our prisoner treated...however you need someone to guard you while you work, there is no way in hell I am going to allow you to stay here alone and especially not when your magick is occupied with complicated ritual."

And please spawn with him so i can hear no more of that matter. And yeah, you're cute.

The hedge wizard blushed but that was hard to see in the half darkness of the dimly lit parking lot, she did give you a smile though.
"I tend to require a bit more courting to go to that stage my dear shaman."
She said with a giggle.

"Why is he so cold.....and what's with the skin and ears.... umm.... is he a "fey" " Devon asks when they are in the car after securing the injured person

"He might be fey...we have a member of House Merinita at Steelhaven, one of the Deacons, we better ask her about this fellow."
Darrian said as he glanced at the wounded man. Lars turned around to look at the new passenger and you notice that the Solificato's dog was growling at the tall, pale man though the animal was to used to the supernatural to attack or flee but the dog was clearly not liking the man.
"Come here boy."
Darrian said and got into the car in the front seat with his large black dog on his lap, it was a bit cumbersome but better than having him close to someone that he feared.
"Where to gentlemen?"
Lars asked.
"And who is they guy?"

Colin grimaced, "It's not the fingerprinting itself that's a concern... it's that they'd likely wind up in a Technocracy database, helping them locate me faster even if I might get away..."
He arched an eyebrow, "Shot by a Union man, and the fellow didn't use Primium? Lucky break."
He grinned, "Master Harris can make a fairly acceptable cup of coffee from cupboard lint - I'll gladly believe he's got finesse."
He pondered, "Wards... You know, it might be that my scrambler can defeat various wards - magically mask someone to the point where the wards notice that there is something, perhaps, but they can't tell the difference between a Mage and a gerbil... Maybe. I'd rather not field test the idea where life and death are on the line..."
He nodded to Adley as the younger Mage left, "Right, see you later, and... good luck."

Devon:

"We can not take him back to Steelhaven, not before we know who and what he is."
Darrian said.
"We need to find somewhere else to treat him."

You find a silver dagger, keys for a car and a apartment door on and elegant pearl key chain, a leather wallet containing about 200 dollars and several credit cards, all of the cards are in different names though, Valen Dean, Alexander Hademar and Daniel Viram so know if any of those names are the man's actual name is hard, you still do not feel him breathing though as you search him nor do you feel a heartbeat, though that is not always that easy to do.
"Careful with him, he is rather badly hurt."
Darrian advices.

Colin:

Colin grimaced, "It's not the fingerprinting itself that's a concern... it's that they'd likely wind up in a Technocracy database, helping them locate me faster even if I might get away..."

"Very true and I do see your point Mr Wainwright, let us try to avoid that."
Joakim said and frowned.

He arched an eyebrow, "Shot by a Union man, and the fellow didn't use Primium? Lucky break."

"Yes indeed, well Primium ammunition is expensive and hedge wizards do not always show up on scans to find the Awakened, I guess the fellow did not decide I was important enough to waste a Primium bullet on thinking me just a custos..."
The Security Chief said then he gave you a grim look.
"The Technocrat did not have the time to regret his mistake."

He grinned, "Master Harris can make a fairly acceptable cup of coffee from cupboard lint - I'll gladly believe he's got finesse."

"Ah he is still working on his coffee project I see, complaining he can not get bitter flavors quite right, but yes the man got finesse, his Paradigm like with most Adepts are often not the fastest, and completely incomprehensible to me but he is a powerful mage."

"Hum...interesting, well we could always try it out, setting up some simple wards and see what you can do with them, now many wards generally wards against magick but those that are more directed might get confused."
Joakim said and nodded.
"It is worth a shot at least."

(OOC: Yes Strife be careful with your head oh and also ward against gerbils. Razz )

"Well we should get out of here as the first order of business at least."
Darrian say and he signals for Lars to start diving. The Etherite nods and take the car out of the Hobby Lobby parking lot and back out onto the road.
"How is he?"
He asks you.

The thing is, that even if the man have pretty deep cuts he is not bleeding much, there is blood, but it is not gushing out of him like it normally would. The mirror you hold up before the strange man's mouth and nose remain clear, he do not appear to be breathing and yet he do move a little and moan every now and again so he is alive...somehow.

(OOC: Please give me a roll for first aid or medicine or if Devon do not have that just intelligence to treat the man's wounds or at least bind them with strips of his own clothing.)

Colin grinned wryly, "And here it seemed to me like the Primium rounds was the standard issue ammunition in the Technocracy these days... Enough so that I'd like to see if they have a sufficiently accessible stockpile somewhere."
He shrugged, "The coffee is good enough, even if it is markedly less bitter than the normal stuff... and honestly, I find the Virtual Adepts' work far easier to understand the basics of than, say, Verbena sangromancy. But then, I took a programming class in my youth; granted, that was in the eighties, and the programming language I was taught is hardly relevant any longer, but the basic logic of it remains the same. Granted, the scope of the Adepts' programming is several orders of magnitude beyond anything I could easily decipher... but the underlying logic governing the process seems the same."
He nodded, "If you can have someone set up a few wards, I can test their integrity. Hm, so much for not straining my Avatar too much while it's recovering... It's itching like all Hell, and unlikely to get any less stress for a couple of days at least..."

Devon:

You manage to tear of pieces of the wounded man's clothing and bind his wounds, it was not the world's best bandages but they where better than nothing. You do not find his pulse though, anywhere you try, it do seam to you that this man, while he is moving and making small sounds are indeed quite dead.

Colin:

Colin grinned wryly, "And here it seemed to me like the Primium rounds was the standard issue ammunition in the Technocracy these days... Enough so that I'd like to see if they have a sufficiently accessible stockpile somewhere."

"Well most of their agents carry at least some Primium ammo, not all have that clip in all the time though, however I do suspect they have a stockpile, the Technocracy cooperate better than we do, so they probably have some Masters of the Art who have a nine to five job producing Primium bullets for them which then gets distributed."
Joakim said.

He shrugged, "The coffee is good enough, even if it is markedly less bitter than the normal stuff... and honestly, I find the Virtual Adepts' work far easier to understand the basics of than, say, Verbena sangromancy. "Well sometimes tastes can be hard to get exactly so when creating something with magick I hear."
The Security Chief muttered.
"I have never studied programming Mr Wainwright but I do get the basic premise of Information based magick, it is still hard for me to fully grasp though so there I have to say I understand the Verbena's magick better, messy as their spells may be."

He nodded, "If you can have someone set up a few wards, I can test their integrity. Hm, so much for not straining my Avatar too much while it's recovering... It's itching like all Hell, and unlikely to get any less stress for a couple of days at least..."

The old hedge wizard gave you a concerned look.
"Are you sure you should be doing these tests then Mr Wainwright? Perhaps it would be better if you limit your use of magick, I would not want your injuries to get any worse."
He said.
"Are you sure you are up to taking part in the tasks we have planned?"
